You know, it doesn't pay to try and read the forums when you have a good buzz going. I so read the title of this thread as Carebear Sentinel - World Boss and was like WTF? I wanna see this!

i dont know if in this threand anyone have fighting Hauntery queen (Lunar boss) before
well hauntery queen use the same pattern of attack
but that boss use bleed
cerberean sentinel istead use armor breaking
from the past of my my-en days
i try of explain what happening when u face these bosses
the reason because this boss strike everytime a specific dd o more dds
is called with 2 words: target aggro
is a rare tipe of aggro used from the some boss of pwi
basically before the boss reach a ??% of his life he fight like a normal boss
cerberean use sporadic aoe stun and a close phy aoe
when the boss hit a precise ??% of is life
the IA select a few dds an then start hitten them with his armor breaking
is not a random aggro because he dont select a random victim from overall the dds
but only from that choosed number of dds (usually 3-4 players)
he will random hitten only those player until the end of fight with is armorbreaking
and ignoring the others dds
this sistem of aggro can became a nightmare if the predestined victims are the clerics
so for avoid this is better if some backup clerics dont do nothing until the boss use his first armorbreak
no heal, no purge, nothing, so no dd IA wont select them as a victim
after the IA make his choice each dd hitten by the axe after ressed must to go in a large space without ppls around, not to far from the boss, with a cleric with ress 11 behind them.
i named this a "sacrificed for the boss" :O
a this point the boss use kill one of the sacrifical group again and again putting himself in a confortable condition and stop moving, (infact if the boss reach his target without moving he wont moving) mean he wont come againt in the middle of the ranged dds and aoeing them
less confusione less dead peeps0 -
Mivi - Lost City wrote: »Stuff
1) It's called random aggro because the aggression randomly changes from the tank (who has already built up enough hate to keep the boss attacking him/her) to a few select DDs who are also picked at random by some form of randomiser.
Yes, it is random aggro. There's a code behind it that selects who the boss is going to attack, sure, but it's a randomiser that selects one player not the tank, at random.
2) This thread died a few months ago because the 'question' had been answered. Why'd you dig it up?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
nu >_< if the boss can random hit only 6 player on 40 dds
is something different from random aggro
u can call it how u want but a fight with these boss
include a different type of tactic
and i find this threatd via google
still without an adeguade answer for the question at post 1
so i have give this aswer and share my info
not much ppl can afford to make pratice
on valley 7 lunar boss >_>0 -

No, it remains random aggro because (and you clearly didn't pick this up the first time, I pity you) a randomiser is used to decide who is going to suddenly take aggro. Get the idea? You know... randomiser creates a RANDOM target who wouldn't have stolen aggro on any other day. Look at the word.
Randomiser. See where random appears in that word. I'm sure you'll get the idea.
Even if the DDs who steal aggro remain the same people to steal aggro, they first have to be randomly picked out of all potential players. The aggro remains random.
If it hasn't sunk in yet, it never will. But I hate to say, the OP's question was answered perfectly fine, and you don't even seem to understand the concept of "random" because you seem to think that a randomiser randomly picking a random DD in a group of people killing a boss who will reset his aggro at a given point in time isn't random.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I don't understand why you have to be so condescending to non-native English speakers. If you were in a foreign country trying to communicate and provide useful information in their language, how would you feel if they nitpicked at every grammatical and punctuation error in your post, and made you feel like a dumbass about it?
I understand where Mivi is coming from. I just did this boss with her and our faction, and it hit a certain veno with said axe move at least 15 times. When it seems to hate target a certain class over and over, it may raise doubts about its "randomness".
It might be random and we were just unlucky, I don't know. I haven't taken the time to read the whole thread, but how you dissect and ridicule a foreign person's English speaking capabilities is like beating up a disabled person and laughing at them. Disgusting.
I pity you for not even having the basic etiquette to show a little respect towards fellow human beings.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

He said that it picks around 3-4 random targets at the beginning and then sticks with those targets, even if they die. This means that it is random at first, but then those people are stuck being his default targets from then on, assuming that one of them is alive when axe time comes around again.
Honestly, it sounds like a reasonable alternative explanation to what originally just sounded like bad luck.
I don't know if it is true, but it certainly sounds plausible, and without testing it, you can't rule it out entirely.
P.S. The word is "randomizer", not "randomiser".0 -
Nothing random about Cerberan Sentinal. He most certainly hates venos. The two times I fought him he shot out every single veno in our faction at least 20 times each, no joke. Even my ingame wife who came by to watch and didn't even land a hit. Massive QQ from every single veno afterwards as well, not a veno in the faction who'd go near him afterwards, good times. b:chuckle0

All I knew back when I made this thread, and still hold to today, is it is not a purely random aggro. No way. Unless we venos and wizzies just had the insanely bad luck that ONLY we were getting "axe'd". No other class got chased down and axe'd. And others have reported the same thing. I can't agree that it's purely random if it's happened repeatedly...
So Mivi...In theory, if what you said is correct, it could have been other classes?Katzyn, level 101 Demon Veno

I have fought a lot of WB's. I can say this, it's possible it hates venos. I have never fought that boss but, I know for fact Dipter will only random aggro on the cleric. It is an aoe so anyone near me would be hit too. I have fought that boss 20+ times and never has it random attacked another class.0

Ick, why was this moved to the Sanctuary forums? Sentinel isn't a Sanctuary-only boss, nor was I asking for opinions/experiences from only Sanctuary people...
And Hellhowl, I never said it wasn't a necro, but your post is indeed spam because unlike the necro post, yours didn't contribute at all to the discussion going on.Katzyn, level 101 Demon Veno

We've been killing Cerberan Sentinal many times on different nights a few weeks ago, and we observed the same thing. Venos were targeted more than often by this wb, and are usually the first to die after seeing that axe drop on them. There was one night when we had only 2 venos out of about 16 other people. Those 2 venos were always the first to be randomly targeted when his hp reached around 50%. It may be random aggro, but if there are venos nearby- venos are the first to get those supposedly random hits. And the funniest part was, when one of those venos clicked on res'ed after about 15 sec later, she got killed instantly again with that axe attack.0 -
LMFAO.
This thread prompted me to encourage my faction to try this boss, wanting to see if he really did hate venos and wizards. We just tried it. You were right. xD
2 wizards, 2 venos from faction were there, plus a random veno who happened to be in Snowy Village. Shot down. Every. Single. Time. Res. Shot down. I was laughing my **** off the entire time. Even the random veno who merely watched from a hill. Shot down. One of the wizards went into town to buy some pots. Shot down. Freakin' hilarious. One time, right after I ressed, he turned and axed me. Dead again. The other veno went afk for a minute but when she returned and ressed, the boss ran ~100 yards to axe her right away. xD
At one point in time, we all agreed to stay down and see if he went after anyone else. The random veno had gotten smart and went into the air just high enough where he couldn't aggro her. He'd turn towards her every time after that, wanting to axe her, but then our barb/fist BM (not sure which was tanking as Cerebrean kept running all over the place xD) would regain aggro.
This was our 5th WB today. No other ones have showed any quirks like this where it targets a specific class. I lost a good amount of exp from all the ressing, but I laughed so hard it was worth it.

So according to your logic, anyone who posts in any thread pointing out the obvious necroing of it is spamming? I am contributing. I'm pointing out a TOS violation.
