What are guilds for now?

Alright, pretty straight forward question here. I mean at first I thought guilds were formed to take land, but unless you are spectral, Kami, or Essence, you won't be able to defend those lands securely. So I ask, what are other guilds really for?

Surely one can say to help newbs and to band together for squad activities, but you have a friends list for that stuff right? You want to help a newb, add them to your friend list.

Plus, guilds fight other guilds all the time, why bother getting someone consta-**** you because you are on their KoS?

    So since factions can only hold 200 people, I guess only 600 people should bother continuing to play. And, really, since only 80 can go into TW, I guess the other 120 people in each of those factions should quit too. Hope you elite 240 folks have fun with each other. So long.

    @1st Would a carebear really be saying the stuff I just said... really? And would an anti-socialite have a friends list?

    @2nd Don't get me wrong, this game is for everyone, but I am just singling out the Guild aspect of it, and in reality only 240ish people DO make a difference on the big map dunchu think ? IE last TW map with Conq owning everything and only a three way Harvster, Spectral, and RQ three way zerg ever slowing that eventual take over.

    I do agree that this game needs more content that guilds can work together on rather than TW.


    But that's not to say that guilds are pointless if your not in one of the top guilds.

    1) When I look at the map, I see 4 other factions that hold multiple lands and another 5 that hold one land. At least 3 of those factions had more land than Spectral until last week. Will that last? Who knows, probably not, at least not indefinitely, but I think it's a bit narrow minded to say that none of those 9 factions is having any impact at all on TW. As one example, FinalOath took land from Kamisama. OK, yeah, we all know Kamisama gave it to them, but it still had an impact even if the only impact was getting Daikoku banned a few weeks later.

    2) It's even more narrow minded to think that the only TW-related reason to have a faction is taking over the map. Look at how many factions are going nuts to bid on FinalOath's abandoned territories. Look at SG1 attacking Spectral last week. Do you think those factions think they'll hold the ex-FinalOath lands for 6 months? Do you think SG1 thought they'd beat Spectral? Some people just want to get into a TW and experience some PVP that isn't about sneaking up on someone 40 levels below you who is already half dead from a mob and one-shotting them with your completely unnecessary 3 spark.

    3) Beyond that, if your faction is really only about TW and winning lands, you need to look for a new faction. A good faction will work together on gear, events like City of Abominations, PK wars, etc. Can you get some of that from friends? Maybe if you have really good friends, but it's not the same. People join factions for the same reason they join book clubs or poker games -- it's a social group in a social game. If you're only seeing the TW domination aspect, you're really missing out on quite a bit.

    I meant, If you dont understand the importance of a guild, even a big guild, then you're what I said above.

    A friend'slist can't nearly do half the things as a guild can do. Are you seriously trying to compare the two?

    CQ only attacks kos lands, not kami, they're not saviors of the server.
