Graphic card settings...ideas?

Since day one of playing this game I have odd behavior that has yet unaffected me in game. No matter what I set my in-game graphics settings to, all player names are white. As I understand, white/shades of red are PK mode and blue are non-pk mode players. I didn't care about the color, I do not go into PK mode. The names, however do show up red like they are supposed to.

Anyway, last night I download the ATT ATI-Toolbar application and installed it. I did this to combat an overheat issue I have with my graphics card. I wanted to town down the gpu and memory clock which the application let me do just fine and it does indeed fix my overhead issue.

Additionally, playing around with the settings I could make the graphics go from really terrible to really good depending on what framerate i was willing to accept.

Why am I going into this detail? Because somewhere I touched on a setting that fixed the PK colors. I have no clue what it was or if it even was just one setting at all but for a moment the colors were blue for everyone instead of white.

It's not really important to fix... yet. but as my assassin is getting to be a decent level, I may want to go into PK mode.

So, does anyone know of a setting or combination of settings that causes this behavior?

PCIe x16, Sapphire -- ATI X1950 Pro 256MB DDR3

    I stumbled upon this when I was (unsuccessfully) looking for what graphics cards are compatible for the game (on my computer) and noticed that no GM's have bothered to answer your question (big surprise there). This sounds like the same problem I had, then realized (by accident) what I had done to cause this. Adjust either your gamma settings in the game and if that doesn't work, lower the contrast settings for your computer monitor (the button for it should be somewhere on your monitor). I found out this was my problem when I was in Twilight Temple and could no longer see those green circles of death. Tried lowering the gamma settings in the game and that didn't work. Made my effects settings higher in the game and that didn't work either. Finally, I remembered that I had made my contrast higher on my monitor because the screen shots I'd take in the game were always so dark. I lowered my contrast and I could see the green circles of death again. Hope that information works for you. b:cute

    This char is an alt to my original post starting this thread....


    Going to try that now... though gamma settings in game have ZERO effect on my graphics... up or down it all looks the same... will try the monitor settings and report.

    What do ya know... It wasn't contrast at all! But you set me in the right direction. My monitor isn't just a monitor but an HD TV. And not a TV that works as a monitor, but a Monitor that includes an HD TV tuner... Therefore there are tons of settings that work TV settings.

    One of them... Tinkering with all the tv settings, I played with SHARPNESS... and lo and behold it was at 100 of 100. I turned it down to 75 and blam! Blue Names! WOOT!

    The image isn't quite as crystal as before but good enough!
