Yes, this is bannable. Take a screen shot of the character and send a ticket with it attached.

or you could do them a favour and respect their choice for that hair, because they put the effort and money into looking that bit more special than these Preset doll's

turn a blind eye to it :P it is bannable but only if your caught. i dont report people if i see them with it because whats the point, its their choice how they want to look, devs dont want it only because it may cause glitches etc

And what can glitches do? Affect gameplay for them and everyone else. Sure, give them credit for changing the .ini files to their liking, then tell them good-bye.

Just to be honest, not knocking the rules or anything, but I don't understand why anything as harmless as editing your character's appearance through the .ini files is bannable. It doesn't affect game play or interfere with other players and it does not damage the servers in any way.

So, you visited the tideborn city, liked their style, bought a makeover scroll and had your hair done. No harm done and pwi made 2 bucks off your new hairdo.
There's no such thing as a "Perfect World" full of Jade, diamonds, gold, and other riches and treasures. There is only an imperfect world, with an imperfect society, full of imperfect people, with imperfect idea's about how to be perfectly rich and perfectly perfect. No one cares about being perfectly kind, perfectly fair, or perfectly content.
    It's a perfectly sad world.

.ini edits in most cases are completely harmless. The only ones that produced problems to my knowledge are the super skinny characters, which are hard to see.

I think it's not so much just .ini edits, it's just, if you're going to edit the .ini files, what else are you going to edit?

its all true words, but as far as changing the hair is concerned as the topic is, i support it and see nothing wrong with it :)

Well, I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I honestly don't see the point in not allowing all hairstyles for all races. Besides, editing the .ini file can actually be a more useful way to create a character. Such as with the Venomancers, you can find a specific type of animal tail/ears using it more easily. If I remember right, there are six or seven different animals, two of which are just two different tails for the fox. It makes it much easier to edit when you know what to look for. Plus, I remember also a very odd hair color which I could only find with a preset, of course I could be mistaken. Still, I just think as long as you keep what you edit to reasonable standards which do not affect gameplay, let it go.

Lulz... I should be more specific with my statement. Changing HAIR through the .ini files should not be bannable, imho. Unreasonable edits should not be allowed. Not that it hurts the game itself, but if a character is two skinny to see, or too fat to see around b:chuckle, then yea, that should be bannable because it interferes with the game play of others.

Well actually they weren't explicit about Tideborn hair styles on other races until they introduced "head fashions". Or maybe people just didn't ask. Still it feels like someone realized... HEY! We can make $5 off everyone who wants hair with up-to-date details!
Because you *are* allowed to move presets between folders and even email them to your friends. And technically that's all that was done to get Tideborn hair as far as I understand. However, because elves, venomancers, and humans don't have access to those hairstyles its a problem. Rules are rules... at least now I can buy my hair for $5. They better release some more styles soon though...
On a side note though... imagine people were allowed to manipulate as much as they wanted... Half the barbarians would be the size of buildings >.<

It's not banable. There has been a topic about this before. There is a way to put different default hair on other races without editing files, and yes I'm to lazy to find the GMs post about it.

the damage caused by editing your ini files is that we have to put up with yet another friggin tideborn hair onnanother race thread every other day. And EACH one has to be followed with a discourse on ethics and ini's. I think at this point everyone knows what everyone else thinks on the subject of editing ini's. Whatevs.

Seriously, these threads are more tedious then the friggin "when nu servers gonna be" threads were back in november.

I wasn't trolling you, I was trolling the fact that everytime this is brought up it turns into a 3-4 page debate on a)whether ini editing is bannable (yes, it is) and b)whether ini editing is ethical (probably more important things in the world to worry about).

Sorry, I forgot that we need signed invites to post in other people's topics on this public message board.

The thing is, you don't need to edit any ini files to get tideborn hair on the other races. Just need to move presets around in the folders.

And it's banable if someone reports you for it.

People it's as simple as this:

Putting tideborn hair whether by moving ini files or by direct editing will get you banned if you are reported and you do not correct it

I originally posted how to do it without direct editing of the files, and that original thread was locked. I mailed gm about it - they said that in any way if a non-tideborn character has tideborn hair it will result in a ban if not corrected immediately.

    I don't think that's fair...

They're not invisible, just stick people. You can still see their hands and feet because there is no way to edit them.
