Hello,
A few days ago i've bought myself a new mp3 player and have decided to put a few songs from the PWI soundtrack on it.

However, since the Raging Tide expansion, the only soundtracks i am able to find in the game files is background music (sound of the wind, etc). If anyone can please tell me where the files are located now, or provide me with a secure website where i could download this music, it will be much appreciated.b:thanks

I'm not talking about the background sounds, but the music tracks themselves. (Ex: The Game's Main Menu music when you enter your client and are at the log-in window).

P.S. avatar mix up, i am the OP.

these files are in the PCK files, and the only way to get to them is to open those files. (which is not normally possible. it requires outside tools)

    No.

That is the theme song for Perfect World.

By soundtrack the OP meant the list of all background music that plays in PW. Like, you know, the soundtrack to a movie would be all the music in that movie and not just the theme song.

Back on topic. As somebody has said, since the expansion the music files for PW excluding background sound effects are now in PCK files or something like that - and you cannot extract the music without getting into trouble. (As it requires outside tools to extract them and that's a naughty).
Best thing to do is try and find somewhere on the web where you can download the music files (there are a few places, I found a couple but cannot remember the links) and download what you can from there. But do remember to check for viruses before you download as PWE naturally isn't responsible for any extras you might get in a download besides the music.

Excluding the new Tideborn music, the background music can still be found in the Perfect World International/element/music folder.

I'd love to know what client you have downloaded then.

Because as far as I'm now aware the only files in element/music are background sound effects - all tracks have since been moved and compressed into a different type of file which requires extraction to get them out.

Funny. I have the exact same client and yet the music files to PW are nowhere to find in the element/music folders - and this has been the same for many people since the TB expansion.

Funny, that is not the case with me nor one of the posters above.
I've provided proof that those files are in my folder. But I guess some people love to argue for the sake of argueing.

I have the same files in that directory too. I guess that either one patch put them there and the people who don't have those files skipped that patch (using a later accumulated patch/install), or the fact that I do manual patching got it for me and the people who do automatic patching didn't get it.

The dungeon_f1.mp3 file, for example, is the music for the Cube of Fate, so this is the music, and not just background sounds.

If you have freshly downloaded PWI or patched from a really old one to the latest you won't have the music files in there. They were added seemingly accidentally in one or a few patches a while ago but obviously have been removed since. PWI doesn't actually use them; all the music files PWI uses are compressed in the sfx.pck file.

I wasn't arguing for the sake of arguing, I was pointing out that the last time a similar thread like this came up (search button FTW) a lot of people including the OP could not find those files in the element/music location.

I guess some people love being an **** for the sake of being an ****, though? After all, nowhere was I rude nor sarcastic to you, I was merely pointing out that the music files were not in that directory on my computer, and in the previous thread like this (again, search FTW) many people had agreed that the music had been compacted into a different kind of file from which they needed extracting.

Oh well. Whatever you want to think, but personally there was very little need for your attitude in your last post. Maybe read my posts a few times over to realise I wasn't arguing with you and - despite what you seemed to have assumed - I wasn't being sarcastic either. Gratz, now you look like an ****.

This would explain quite a few things. A few months ago I updated to a new computer and had to redownload everything (manually, BTW. Just to make Sangodoc happy and to prove it has nothing to do with automatic update against manual update) from the client to the latest files. On my old computer I had access to the music files in the element/music directory where as on this computer I do not.

    .

    Attitude?
    You hysterical or what?

You're the one with the sarcastic comments, implying I downloaded a different client or whatever.
I simply stated the files were there still, which I've obviously seen with my own eyes. Why would I search for this on the forums, if I've seen they're still in my folder?

Maybe you should reread your own posts. You say they weren't sarcastic?
Implying I'm lying and as if I'm talking about a different version. Even your "funny" remark. Yeah, those were definitely not sarcastic.

The only one here being an **** is you. And yes you are argueing. Because I've explained the situation and yet you keep overthrowing it, saying it's not like that.

Yup, the client comment was sarcastic comment.

The funny one however, wasn't. You just decided to take it that way and then treat me like I was arguing when, in actual fact, I was merely commenting it was funny you had the files when I did not and I wondered why that was.

So, no, my friend. You assumed I was being sarcastic where I wasn't and then decided to tell me I was arguing for the sake of arguing. My apologies that you failed to read my post properly and assumed I was doing something when I wasn't.

Also, I never ever said it wasn't like that. When did I specifically say "You don't have the music in there"? Hm? Please tell me where I ever said you didn't have the music in that folder. And I don't mean quote some post where you thought I said that, but an actual post that proves I said that.

Also, if you really want to keep this up, it's not "argueing" but it's "arguing".
The above is how I would have behaved if I wanted to argue for the sake of it. Are you starting to realise the difference? I sure hope so.

So. Let's see... you assume I'm being sarcastic when I'm not, accuse me of pointless bickering afterwards and also apparently tell me that I told you that you were wrong, which I never did do.
Who is it being an **** again?

First of all, I'm not being an ****, but simply saying what I think. Yes I assumed you were being sarcastic as the previous post had already that direction and you don't always have to specifically say exactly what one implies.
But you weren't, so in that case I apoligize.

I suggest we just leave this to rest, like 2 grown ups, since there's already enough of this on the forums.
I admit I was wrong on my part.

Uhh, from what I know if you install PW-My you can get the background music in the folder.

I checked if you can get them on the PWI client and its not there, its probably compressed in a file, and I don't know how to uncompress it. xD

Their used to be a link to all PW bgm music, but its gone now. Hopefully some one will post one that still works.

Perfect World Entertainment would make a killing if they released the game soundtrack commercially. Okay, maybe not, but I would totally buy it if they did.

hmm. Maybe it has to do with people who got the original game, then they had to download the Rising Tide expansion and it packed up the music files.

Because i downloaded the original and the expansion as a package ( in one download)and i have the music files, with no extra tools or anything.

oh and to the above posters sig, its from Yu gi oh, the abridged series, correct?

I notced when I downloaded PWI on my new computer the songs were not in the file, but my old one had them. It was fine before Raging Tide. I think it cleared them off the easy-access folder after the Expansion patch, but the ones that were already there stayed with the Expansion patch not effecting it.
