Confused about Sockets

Okay...I beat the giant octopus thing..got the daggers. So..now I want to jack it up with some soul gems. I bought a soulgem...but when I try to add it at the Blacksmith...it says "This Item Has No Socket(s)"...but when I go to my equipment page...it's written "Dagger of Trials (2 socket(s)))" in blue. What am I doing wrong?

    The only thing I can think of it that you have already filled it with two stones.

    It is also possible that the error message is wrong, and that you're trying to fill it with entirely the wrong sort of gem (you want the sorts that the merchant sells, not chi-stone, nor mirage celstones nor fragments)

    Maybe just like Vitenka said you already filled the dagger. b:bye

    Stone that you can use to socket.
    See the grade of your weapon or armor because you can't put higher lv soul gem into the gear.
    You can put same lv grade or lower grade to the gear.
