My personal Sin (solo)

Everyone out there has their own personal ideas on Assassin builds. the most standardized is 1 str 4 dex, or 1 str 4 dex 1 vit. Here's my personal build:
I started out on an assassin, pondering why the developers would post a page stating that Assassins were a "Solo" class. as I researched into Light armor, and heavy armor, the most obvious thought popped into my head, thats really really squishy. But as I explored further into LA, I learned its not as squishy as it seems; its actually more balanced, and thus, should prove more apt to soloing, Better than HA due to the sheer difference in mdef, and vice versa with the arcane armor. Starting a Solo build; I immediately statted 5 vit on my very first level, since then, I've not statted since.
Here are my Naked statistics on my assassin:
Level 56
10 vit
93 str
196 dex
5 mag
1573 hp
1260 mp
the goal is, to make a versatile adaptable character that is capable of solo grinding, as well as soloing bosses. Equipping gears that allow for higher vit, regeneration and str help a great deal. the goal is to wear heavy helmets before late level in the game, and allow for (if in squads) to allow the tanks to tank, and have myself not steal aggro.
Keep in mind, statting high str for heavy helms will not nerf my own damage immensly, because if you were to stat 1 str 4 dex every level you'd ultimately end the game with 110 str. I decided, to take 5 str and pour it into vit, and the rest I decided to max at an early level. Maxing my str to 105 will allow at lvl 68 for me to wear the helm of Aqua Viciousness.
Armors to seek:
Mid level Light armor is very stunning, and there really isnt much of a need to upgrade it til late game but here's my full list of armors I saught out, and aquired through due dilligence.

I sought out these gears simply due to the hp and MP regeneration. Also Seeking out a a tome which adds to your vit and str will help to reach the goal faster.
Using these gears I have attempted to solo bosses up to Ferren Sereniti. I havent yet attempted Calcid, or Trioc, but they are on the list. But the process of killing these bosses, I have NOT used a charm. the use of hP pots and second wind are enough to allow me to survive against these bosses I've attmepted.
Reccomended skills to Keep up in level:
Rib Strike Level 6 (hits lvl 6 at 54)
Range Melee
Mana 133.6

Cast 1.9 seconds
Cooldown 8.0 seconds
Weapon Daggers
Requisite Cultivation Aware of Harmony
Stab up under the enemy's ribs.
Deals base physical damage plus
80% of weapon damage plus 2587.4.
Reduce target's attack speed by 40.0% for 30 seconds.
This skill is honestly, one of 3 skills that allow you to solo bosses others wouldnt consider.
Focused Mind Level 8 (hits lvl 8 at lvl 49)
Mana 112
Channel 0.4 seconds
Cast 1.6 seconds
Weapon Daggers
Requisite Cultivation Aware of Principle
Increases your chance to evade enemy skills by 22.0%,
Lasts for 54 seconds.
Focused Mind shares a 90 second cooldown with Tidal Protection.
This skill, isnt needed to level, but is needed to be cast to solo.
Bloodpaint Level 1
Mana 91
Channel 1.8 seconds
Cast 2.4 seconds
Cooldown 15.0 seconds
Weapon Daggers
Requisite Cultivation Aware of Harmony
Make all friendly units within 10 Meters can absorb HP equals to
2% of damamge it dealt each physical melee attack.
Lasts for 990 seconds.
Only available for Blademaster, Barbarian, and Assassin.
Only available for melee attacks.
Leveling Blood paint increases the Duration upon the party by 90 seconds. the inital skill lasts for 16 mins.
Getting to bosses:
instead of mulling through hordes and hordes of mobs, Cloak and run around them
However unneeded it is to level a few of these skills they still add to your ability to reach unreachable bosses, that was lacking in other classes:
Shadow Walk Level 9 (lvl 9 is reached at 53)
Mana 20
Channel 0.7 seconds
Cast 2.8 seconds
Cooldown 6.0 seconds
Weapon Daggers
Requisite Cultivation Spiritual Adept
Enter stealth mode.
Enemies with an Awareness Level lower than your Stealth Level can not see you.
Costs 16 mana per second.
Only usable when out of combat.
* I only reccomend leveling it, if you dont want to burn mp pots like mad. You will be cloaked for extended periods of time. Level it to a managable point when you can safely cast other skills and not hinder your mp by cloaking.
Shadow Jump Level 6 (lvl 6 is reached at sin lvl 54)
Range 24.0 Meters
Mana 65
Channel Instant
Cooldown 21.0 seconds
Weapon Daggers
Requisite Cultivation Aware of Harmony
Instantly move to the target's location.
This skill, has little to no use in PvP, outside of closing on a target quickly. However, In PvE, this skill is used to quickly skirt doors and traps that would otherwise be a hinderance to you. I do reccomend leveling it, if you plan on doing a lot of solo boss hunting, because there's a lot of doors.
Door Teleporting: Its really simple, tab target until the red icon on your mini map has targetted something on the opposite side of the door, teleporting through the door, will not kick you out of cloak.
Costs 20 Chi
Cat-Like Tread Level 6 (lvl 6 is reached at sin lvl 54)
Passive Effect
Requisite Cultivation Aware of Harmony
Increases your Stealth level by 12.
This skill increases your ability to hide from mobs, the higher the level the higher the mob you can hide from.
Other skills reccomended for leveling are as follows but if you wanna "ninja" your way through FB and bh's the skills listed above are required.
Puncture wound
Dagger Devotion
Earthenrift (for grinding)
Knife Throw (for interrupting bosses when they channel)
Deep sting (for grinding)
WindPush (speed up your time while running around in fbs)
Maze steps (Speed up your time while running around cloaked)
Sharp observer
By no means should you ignore any of these skills in any order. Each skill has a different priority for each person, as I originally stated in the guide, I am building it to solo, and as of so far, its pretty effective, much trial and error, along with replotting of attack chains.
Remember, when boss hunting; think before you act you want to get the first hit in. Cloak, and go in for a rib strike. the less a boss hits you, and the less a boss channels the better. Many bosses if you pay attention to their feet, they get a ring around their feet. Often referred to as "aura." If you dont want to get clobbered by a massive spell, or harmful debuff, use dagger throw to interrupt the bosses aura.
In my personal experience, it doesnt feel like PvP is a good idea for Assassins, due to the pure lack of elemental attack skills. Blademasters, Barbarians and Archers all get elemental skills. it may hinder you against Heavy armored players, expecially with the ability to reflex pdef on Barbs and bms. Assassins may have high spike damage, but the lack of true Hindering skills on heavy armored classes, I dont see much progress against them, because an assassin simply cant stunlock, they can.
Hope you enjoyed this guide. Happy gaming!

Puncture wound rocks at mid game, but totally became useless once you hit 70ish and above. I maxed it, but I kinda regret it now.
Dagger Devotion is a must to max? Pretty Common sense.
Earthen Rift gives a 420% Weapon damage at max level. Imagine your dagger's base damage is 550+- at lv 70ish. Thats about 2k damage boost. Its about less than what your slipstream will do. The only plus point is that its aoe. You should only start leveling this if you got a dagger with good base damage at higher levels.
Knife Throw is lame. The damage is miserably low and the chi you spent on investing on an ability that doesn't interrupt channelling 100% is a waste. You're better off investing your chi on better Lv 59 skills. ( You're gonna find that getting spirits is one hell of a task at high levels. So you better start saving them up now. ) Lv 1 for this ability will do.
Leveling Deep Sting doesn't increase the sleep period. Lv 1 will do.
Windpush is cheap to level. Its a luxury skill. So if you feel like investing abit on it, its fine. It can actually come in handy at times.
Mazing Step - similar to Windpush. Lv 1 will do for this skill since the cooldown time is too long.
Sharp Observer is a must for high level assassins. You'd probably need them a lot in TW and PvPs.0 -

Remember this build is not a pvp build. so if you do not feel the need to PvP, Sharp observer isnt a needed skill. Keeping up with skills that will hinder enemies should be your main priority, because every chance you have to skate by a painful debuff, is another chance you wont die quickly.
I personally find Knife throw, however inconsequential the damage may be, to be able to interrupt boss mobs quickly, breaking their channeling.
Every chance you have to hinder your boss that you're soloing, the better off you'd be.Apparently its more difficult to milk a smurf than originally conceived..0 -
A better alternative would be to max Focused Mind and Throat cut?
Throat cut has a much higher chance of breaking a channel - if thats what you're looking for - and deals a heck load more of damage.
And Focused Mind will save any sin's asses if it is maxed.
Yes, knife throw may be useful. But you really gotta prioritize the abilities that you wish to level. But there are much better skills in a sin's skill tree that is worth leveling. You're thinking of maxing out so many abilities. I can tell you that its quite impossible. Once you hit 80-90ish, you're gonna regret wasting chi on abilities that seemed 'useful' at mid levels. Like for me, to level just an ability, would require me to use up the spirits earned in 2 levels. And to gain 2 levels, you'd need like a week - and that is painfully slow.0 -
Man, you realize this whole post is you basically saying you differ to the standard Assassin build by 5 points in Vitality.
I mean, seriously, who cares?
That 5 points ain't gonna do much difference, might as well have it in Dex..
As for the skills, basically every Assassin skill has SOME sort of use, except for Twin Strike (which will probably turn out to be awesome with Demon or Sage later, who knows), and Slipstream Strike which gets outclassed at later levels by moves with better effects.0 -
All you need to know once you hit 59 and can maintain a double spark indefinitely.. wait that is all you need to know. Build chi -> double spark -> ping to death, rinse and repeat. That is all you need to do to be effective in PvE. Most skills are **** in comparison with the damage you'll do with double spark on.
Puncture wound - ****
Dagger Devotion - max
Earthenrift (for grinding) - in grind it's **** if you find a use for it let me know
Knife Throw (for interrupting bosses when they channel) - ... *shrug* I don't use it
Deep sting (for grinding) - there's no need to level it unless you want to level it for the hell of it
WindPush (speed up your time while running around in fbs) - only if you have spare spirit
Maze steps (Speed up your time while running around cloaked) - same was Wind Push
Sharp observer - unless you are going to PvP don't level it or even get it
There are truly not many skills an assassin needs to level. They are most effective using normal attacks. Chi building skills can for the most part be left at level 1 to save on mana costs. So you pretty much have to just level skills that you like to use. If you like using tackling slash on melee only mobs or archers go ahead and level it. If you like the attack speed reduction of rib strike, feel free to level it. You have a lot of excess spirit so feel free to splurge on your individual favorite skills.
As for equipment, I would make it a personal goal to get Bracer of Blood Moon as soon as you can. That -.1 attack interval is extremely useful. You'll probably be using it for a long time as well. Any wrist armor with shorter attack interval would a decent substitute until you get it.0 -
i do both pvp/pve and at 61 i was soloing my bh 51 with the pure dex build and with straight LA ocf i have a charm but only a silver one and it was really easy as for personal opinion rib strike is a must it slows at max 50% that a huge difference between life or death as for stuns lvl 1 is fine 3.2 sec is enough time to do w/e lol slipstream strike is a very good DD skill not a must but up there and finally cat like tread is a must also to sneak past high lvl mobs or to force stealth away from them if u are dying0
-
Soloing bh51 at 61? Right.. unless you had high refines or at least full buffs with a cleric besides you I highly doubt that.0
-
You talk about bracers of blood moon. Very hard to get. And if you see em, they're insanely OVERexpensive.
I invested some cash into tokens for wraith badges and did a lot of FB19-29's. Then i got myself the rank 4 armor. Truth be told, it's plain and simple AWEsome. IF refined to at least +3 it will last a long time. AND it has -.x atk interval )
The outcome for both the bracers and the rank armor is the same. Expensive. But i prefer the rank over the bracers. Personal preferrence.
As for BH51 at lvl 61, yes, it's possible. Not easy and it will take some time, but using powders, a charm, maybe some junxiao(or whatever its called) you can solo those bosses fairly well.
To OP :
Your idea is very good, but having so much str at start lessens my dmg output too much imo. I'm wearing a helmet that gives me +125 + 4*32 hp.
More then enough to have decent hp. And there is really no need to add into Vit, thus again, losing dmg output.
Considering there is so much discussion about the skills, and everyone has their preference, you can't really say that some skills are not needed.
I use a combo when going up against regular mobs, and finish em of with my regular attacks. But going up against bosses, you really need some good damage skills. Why ? Cause the more dmg you do, the more bloodpaint becomes useful.
As for dagger devotion : this is imho a MUST have. Everytime you level it it increases your dmg output. NOT having it is like saying "i wanna do dmg, but not that much" , come on, assassins are meant to kill as fast as possible, why else would we want -.x atk interval ? And the more dmg you do, the faster you kill.
As for knife throw : i always use it to lure the (1)mob to me (not pulling, it isn't meant for that) so i can start killing it faster. Knife throw is also handy for when your sq member gets a second mob on him/her and you want it to run to you instead. Levelling it is optional.0 -
Soloing? I'm sorry I had decent equip, all legendaries or three star and refines up to 3 and flawless gems with cleric buffs yet I still get ohko by an AoE three times in my BH51 runs. So please forgive me if I find that very hard to believe. I haven't had that problem recently but it did happen during my second and third run of BH51.
Bracers of Blood Moon is fairly expensive. I don't expect a level 60 assassin that just started to get it unless they cash shop. However, it should be in the back of your mind by saving up any spare coins and not leveling useless skills.0 -
There are very few "useless skills" for an Assassin if you intend on PVPing.0

the difference in 5 vit is 220 hp, 30 pdef, and 3 extra hp regen during combat. May not sound like much, but 220 hp can mean the difference between life and death at times.
Also notate my difference in strength from a "pure dex" build, at lvl 60 I am now sitting on 105 strEvAxx - Sanctuary wrote: »All you need to know once you hit 59 and can maintain a double spark indefinitely.. wait that is all you need to know. I agree with you in a few of these skills that they dont need to be fully maxed, but every consecutive bit of damage you deal can increase your survivability and rate at which your boss falls down dead, if you solo, IE Puncture wound, its like dealing 2 hits every 3 seconds.
Earthenrift is a useful Aoe skill, if used in conjunction with Subsea strike and wolf Emblem.
Note: I find against debuffing bosses, Tidal protection to be more handy than focused mind, as I can solo Jewelscalen with enough focus and prep (aka buffs, and cloud thorn). As tidal protection has a chance, not a big chance but a chance to avoid neg status. I'd personally rather take the attack and avoid the debuff on bosses such as Jewelscalen/Krimson/gaurnob and polearm.
Notation on throat cut:
Yes it has a higher chance to interrupt, but has to channel and cast for 2 seconds and consumes a spark, and as we all know, sparking is king for us.
Also I have all my skills (outside of sharp observer) Maxed out due to soloing bh's and selling the loot, aquiring molds helps the coin, and the bh quest helps soothe the pain of spirit. While yes it is pricey to keep up on all the skills, and isnt reccomended to all, who want to keep their coin in pocket, I dont regret keeping my skills maxed out, as I intend to max out all my skills at end game anyway.Apparently its more difficult to milk a smurf than originally conceived..0 -

Also notate my difference in strength from a "pure dex" build, at lvl 60 I am now sitting on 105 str
b:chuckle you lieee, i got a +10 vit tome pk-ing a barb, and that only boosted my hp by 130, so i sold it... 1 vit = 13hp
btw even +10 vit on a bm is 250 hp...
b:thanks have fun with your 105 str, whereas you could have 1-2 shot most squishies will now take you much much longer.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
