new at barb?

well i just made a barb and its like lvl 15 ish but can anyone tell me whats different about it? like playing style, skills, builds, and stuff. my main is a veno and i know that there are major difference between the two.

well the biggest diffrence is how you fight.venos fight from afar (if i'm correct) and let the pet tank the mob. barbs get up in there face and take the hits. so the role of a barb isn't really to dd even though we can do that quite well at certain times our role is to make sure you guys (veno) don't get the aggro or hit by the boss or mob. barbs need ALOT of healing products, in my short life as a barb i've been hit so much its ridiculous, tanking qingzi everyday takes its tole b:laugh

so yeah, the basic role of a barb is meat shield. its slow 30-40 and the armors are ugly but if you can push through that (most people quit there) barbs are actually really usefull

oh and about skills the guide at the top of the page is the standard tank build i use (6 str. 3 vit. 1 dex)
but there are other builds like dd builds and hybrid builds.

and always go with axes and hammers

normal barb : style is tank the mobs like a hercule(better? :P), skills is also for tanking mostly although you have DD builds(not as good as classes like archers) and got this HP and strength buff . build normally is the tank build which in short is 6 str, 3 vit, 1 dex every 10 points(2 lvls). stuff, eq is heavy. oh and we are weak at low and mid lvls without clerics xD sucky accuracy
but endgame, you have crazy HP b:laugh one of the best at endgame i beleive

Welcome to tanking!

There's many differences between playstyle...as a barb you are your own pet, in a round about way. And that's a good thing! So playstyle is virtually: go up to the mob and have a slapping contest, at least at lower levels. At higher levels it changes because the nature of the mobs change.

Skills: Max axe & hammer, Flesh Ream, True Form as soon as possible.

As far as builds go, there's a bunch of great guides here on the forum. Personally as an early barb I went 3str, 1vit, 1 dex every level until I got to 40 dex for the extra crit % and to avoid seeing "Miss, Miss, Miss" on my screen. As a barb you will still miss quite a bit, but it gets better in the later levels.

Two quick tips: NEVER put any points into Mag and when sharding in later levels HP ALWAYS beat Pdef.
