- sufficient defense / HP for most of my activity, but I do roll with the Devil's Cape of Aries for grinding (for the -m/s listed in the build below). Note the matk (note also the low refinement of my weapon which can be decomped / upgraded and non mag shard as well (cost me a mere 100k)). This matk combined with -% channeling is part of why higher level venos were getting pissed / embarrassed about me in Public Quest. When the demon venos were casting Venomous: the difference was amplified.

Now I know TT90 green would have been better for survivability, but I chose -ch and -m/s over defense and have not regretted it (I'm PvE). The coin saved could be applied to refines / imbues, and I'm sure grinding is better with the equips I've got, and Bean Collecting time in Rebirth heavily impressed some people.

Grinding with my defense equips sucks, which is another reason I haven't considered vit arcane. I also could still use more MP, faster MP recov, more Mdef, more Matk, and more pet healing for grinding which all comes from the mag stat.

His reasoning for it is that against wood resist mobs, rather than toss 2x as many spells at it, he drops into fox form and melees. The metal shard contributes more melee damage for considerably less cost than a garnet. When I ran the numbers, it can make sense for a low-str melee build.

I think there's some question about whether elemental shards add melee damage when you use skills though. Seen people claim that it does and doesn't. Never bothered testing it myself.

Even then, theres so few wood resist mobs and bosses in this game its pointless.

1) the shard cost a mere 100k (much cheaper than any comparable garnet)
2) It makes a significantly bigger gain percent wise for my melee than a much more expensive perfect saphire for mag.
3) I use Fox Form for survivability, mag resist mobs, and seldom for wood resist mobs.
4) why are we responding to a troll instead of just calling the troll a troll?
