Archer Build Barb O.o

I was doing some stuff... and i kind of made a new type of barb.

Scince i liek both archer and barb i did some stuff to a barb....

It's basicaly a barbarin that uses a bow, and has the stats of a pure archer(1 str 4dex per lvl)

And this thread i am asking, should i go on with this build, or stop?

Well it's not completely fail, if that's what you're wondering. Barbarians and BMs get the highest bonus to evasion & accuracy (per Dex point) in the game. So a barbarian on a pure archer build will be more accurate than an archer. And then there's the lovely crit rating for that much dex...
That being said, our damage is calculated from STR, not DEX, so you'll be hitting pathetically weak compared to an archer or 'sin. And of course, you'll lack the STR for heavy armor, decent melee weapons, decent melee damage, and the only 'skill' you can use while playing the bowbarian is to Spark.

Personally, I like dex. Mine is around 130 or so, counting gear (including +15 dex tome). But there does come a breaking point where it's detrimental to the character - I don't plan on advancing my dex any further, except with a better tome (want Divine Brotherhood SO bad... b:sad) or alternate gear, and I imagine most barbs will say I'm ridiculous for having mine that high.

I can't recommend trying to keep this build above level 30 or so. But if it works for you, well done

That's kind of what I wanted, high crit/evasion/accuracy... Scince Its a barb, as I get higher will I take less damage, if it does ... Bowbarian (sick name btw) Vs archer... Who do you think will win?

At low levels, you will probably. Your def and HP will be higher, and your accuracy/evasion better.

At mid to high levels, the archer is probably going to kick your furry butt. They may not hit as often, but they'll do significantly more damage. They can use skills. And perhaps most significantly, you'll be in LA same as them, which means your PDef will be a lot lower than a barb's ought to be.

Archer damage is based upon dex, barb damage is based upon strength.

Ok my BowBarian is at lvl 7 (took ages -.-), at lvl 1 to 5 i was hitting low as my punches, but when i got to level 5, i started hitting pretty good. I vsed a lvl 7 barb in a duel, he had heavy armour and used lots of skills, i had light with no skills, abotu 1% of my hits were Misses, and about 70% of his were misses ... it was close duel, i lost

So i accualy think this will turn out well

Nope, you are not wrong.
Using Dex for Bows will yield same power regardless if you are a melee or a range toon. The difference starts in how much attack power each of the class gets from each point of DEX. An archer has better attack power gain from DEX than a barbarian. So it is class dependent only from the point of view of how much damage you will squeeze out of each point of DEX. So barbs are STR dependent only if they use melee weapon, if they use range their attack power will be calculated in regard of their DEX.

However, an archer will simply destroy a bowbarian ( even a 4DEX 1STR build one) starting level 50 at most. Let;s just assume archer's higher attack power is compensated by bowbarian's higher HP and maybe Ph. Def.
But after that it all downhill - archers have skills based on their range abilities and attack power, attack speed, whereas barbs have skill concentrated on melee abilities and HP.
Having a few AoE that have a average range of 12m will not help that much when an archer has 20+m range, some stuns with way higher chances of success and a freeze that has 90% chance of succes and start with at least 5.3 seconds duration and ends with 8sec.
Oh, and yeah, an archer can probably have some fun and kite you around, because of his Wingged Blessing passive skill that adds 10m range when maxed while you will have only base range of your bow.

You have some skills to use like Poison fang, the HP buff, blood bath, strenght of the titans and Feral regenaration also the genies skills(many of the genie skills will be useful). Poison fang add some damage and titan add even more damage if you get some interval gear it may work but its hard very hard.Many hours of hard work.You may also use fists for melee range fight

This is not a new type of barb. It's been tried before, just an incredibly stupid idea.

Thats one aspect of this game that dissapoint me a little. Last game i played all classes could use any weapon. You be weaker of course but as long as you had the stats for it you could equip that weapon. The skill avalible if you uses weapon not primaritaly for your class you could only get very basic begginers skills. If this game was the same you could throw 30 magic on barb and equip a low level magic weapon. Not always smartest thing to do but was fun for some to build weird hybid characters.

anyway dex builds can be good for barbs but don't bother using a bow its not going to work well, the most extreme you should go is using just enough str for your axes and rest into vit and dex ( you don't want to slack to much on vit because there will be no use for you for anything just fun to look at XD

Hmm, I don't know how almost EVERYONE on the thread is saying it's a good build. I mean sure, the extra evasion and accuracy is nice BUT...are you forgeting about Bow Mastery...

when maxed adds 60% weapon attack, that's a LOT of attack power that the barb is missing out on.

I mean yah if you enjoy playing such a build go for it...........but I wana know why everyone is saying a barb with a bow with 60% less attack then archer is good

yea archers get 60% weapon attack(Bow Mastery) they have skills to use, more range so archers are better from bowbarian, but its fun to play one. the genie skill Relentless Courage can get you some really good speed with full str genie (yea its working even better for archers) barbs have Poison Fang and Strength of the Titans thats 60% more damage(just like Bow Mastery).I know that archer are better from bowbarins but if you like to play bowbarian TRY IT b:victory

I don't really see EVERYONE saying that a bowbarian is a viable option as far as efficiency is concerned. Just that for the heck of fun and weird build, you can try one, that is all.

As far as archer skills that a bowbarian will miss, I summed up a few, just that I didn't bother to name each and everyone of them.

but heck, I use bare hands to build chi XD I rather use no weapon than bows. and yes I am just a pure VIT barb...

What good is an archer build for a barb anyways? at least 3 DEX and 1 STR per LVL is not worth it.

And archers are the hardest class to play I die too much on archer
