Keep getting disconnected

Before the most recent patch I never had an issue with staying logged into the game. Now when I am playing PWI, after about 30 seconds to a minute I get disconnected from the server. I haven't been able to stay logged in for more than 5 minutes maximum. Does anyone know what the deal is or how I can fix this issue?

I'm having exactly the same problem and it's infuriating. It's the same on both Harshlands and Sanctuary servers. I can last two minutes at best before disconnecting. For a long period on Saturday the list of servers claimed Harshlands wasn't even there! My internet connection gets an A-grade ping test and my speed is 19m, so the problem is definitely not at my end.
Judging by the way no GM has acknowledged this thread yet, I'd say they dont care. If this is the case then they can refund the several hundreds of dollars I've spent on this game and I'll spend it on buying something I can actually use. They wont be getting any more money out of me until it's fixed.0 -
yea im having the same problem.. need gameplay for this exp weeks.. but im re installing the game and ill post here if it works for me.. only thing i can think off XDD0

Yeah so I noticed as long as I stay in Arch West District I don't get disconnected...but as soon as I step 1 foot outside of the west district I have the problem mentioned above. It's getting quite ridiculous and if this problem isn't fixed I'll be forced to move on. Not like I want to but if I'm unable to play then no point in sticking around...0

I guess there aren't enough people with this problem or they are still doing research on the problem to figure out how they can help us. Be patient, maybe they're working on it. It would be nice of them to let us know they're working the issue...
I just hope it doesn't take too long.0 -
Im having the same problem. At first I thought it was my router but I usually have to wait a min before logging in when that happens but I dont have to wait it just logs me right back in. Seriously whats going on lately? Thanks for the siggy Dorset

Scratch that. No matter where I'm at I get disconnected. I guess the few times I didn't get disconnected I got lucky. But as soon as I moved I did...This is getting more and more annoying. Been looking for something to do in the meantime.0 -
Not to long ago I had a disconnect problem which lead to me being disconnected several times a day this could happen like 10 times everyday. But when changing all my internet stuff (router, modem, cables and stuff) the problem went away.
Now I have the same problem as most players that have written in this thread. If I make a cat shop and leave it online when doing something else I come back to a disconnected game.(\_/)

I've been killed about 3 or 4 times thanks to this problem and its pissing me off.
As of about 11:00 pm EST yesterday I've been unable to log onto the game at all and I just get disconnected instantly.
At first I just assumed it was maintenance but its been several hours so...0 -
Omg...me too, but i login and if i stay put i wont get dissconnected but the moment i take one step or jump, it shuts down on me =/0

If that worked we wouldn't be having problems...verify, redownload, reinstall, reupdate...none of it works. It's something wrong with the game and our version of windows or something that we all seem to have in common that's causing this game to malfunction on us.0 -

I have Windows Vista 32bit with 2 GB of RAM an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2.2GHz of processor speed with a GeForce 8600M GT Graphics card that has 512 MB of memory. Yes it's an old computer but still plenty strong to run this game.
Lets see if any of us have something similar with our systems that may help us figure out the problem. At least I hope so!0 -

What sound card do you have. I had mine disabled and it was causing crashes, but check and see if you have an onboard C-Media sound card.

Hmm didn't think about that...I have a Realtek High Definition Audio sound card...Gunna try disabling it. Did disabling it work for you?0 -
Not really being in the range of tech support because of playing PWI trough wine on linux but...
I had the same problem as mentioned in this thread and it seems I have managed to fix it by enabling OSS sound driver on wine config. Used to have no driver enable because didn't need sound.
After patch kept crashing on almost all the instanced mentioned previously, but now has worked fine for a few minutes and been able to kill a few mobs. So it would seem it is something sound related.0 -

Lol I disabled it and i stayed connected...right up until I cast a spell. When I cast a spell the client crashed...WTF yo!!!
Reenabled it...now what?0 -

It sounds like this new patch is having some conflict issues with sound from what you just described. Can't stay connected with sound, but can stay connected w/o it until you cast a spell. For me, I had my sound disabled and kept crashing, but when I enabled it, stopped crashing.
I would say we have a good idea what is causing 'some' of the issues.. sound or sound related functions within the game.
Now they need to figure out how to fix them asap.

ok very frustrating now, same problem (windows xp) after update I could stay in game several minutes before it just closed. I verified and then game closed after clicking start. I disabled sound, game stayed on until I cast a spell. ...I am not really very technical not sure what to try next!!0
-
We really do need and would appreciate a GMs help on this issue...0
-
Anyone tried updating sound drivers yet to see if that helps out?0
