I'm not having any luck finding thelp in the game so come here in desperation.

I have some celestone fragments, some celestone of earth and human, that
all state 'take to gem merchant to convert to x.' on the stone.

Okay, Went to the gem merchant and he offers nothing . No dialog
to convert what I'm carrying around in inventory.

Very frustrating .

All it says 'my job is to convert, blah blah.' I tried dragging and dropping
the celestones on the NPC but then the items just fell to the ground.

As an aside, what is the deal with my standard chat input being limited
to a very short string of characters? I can barely enter one sentence worth of text and then it stops and I can enter no more text.

You need 3 of each celestone type to be able to turn them in a mirage celestone.
Or you need 21 fragmants for 1 mirage celestone.

    Ah, k! Thanks.

That explains it. I had 2 each of the human and that other one.
That NPC could take the time to explain that but I guess they had no
time to include text in dialog .

    Thank you.

She means "3 each of the three celestone types (earth, human and heaven) or 25 fragments." The gem merchant offers quests to do the trade in, but I wouldn't take the quest until you have all the celestones/fragments needed.

You better not try to make mirages yet. You won't need them anyway, and using them now would be a waiste

^This^, unless you are planning on selling them. You'll get a lot more later, and an extra 10k every now and then can help a lot during low levels.
    Who needs a sig anyways?

The celestone conversion is under...... Quests! Yep, it's a quest to get the guy to do conversions. :) (he still just does it, you don't have to go kill stuff for him or anything. They just called it a quest for some reason, instead of using a crafting or shopkeeper interface. /shrug)

They're mostly given as quest rewards. Typically you have a 70% chance to get a fragment, and a 10% chance to get each of the celestone types. Very rarely you'll get them as mob drops.
