What would you do if somone wants you to disband your Level 2 faction?

Back on November 1st we created a new faction. All went fine till yesterday, when a GM saw a kanji letter on our faction's name and tell us to level up a char till L20, pass him the faction and delete the char.
In the time when we create the faction, there was no reference to this rule in the creation of new faction process. In recently updates, they added this rule averywhere during the process.
The point is, they let us be for 3 months, let us update the faction to level 2 spending 2M coins, and now want us to disband. Does it make sense?
I have no problem leveling a char through level 20 just to be able to delete the faction, but I think I have the right to ask for a level 2 faction. Maybe 2M sounds like garbage to you, but not for us, and is a matter of common sense.
I would like to hear opinions from you people about this...

2 mill isnt that much really
you probally made a forbidden name which is why keeping a non offensive english name with no foreign signs is the best way to go
either way you are screwed think a tad better when choosing a name and read the rules about them in the futureits impossible to always do the right thing we all make mistakes i am not different from that
just try to be a good person
english isn't my native language so there might be a few spelling/grammatical errors in my posts0 -
If you have an issue with a GM request you are best to take it up directly with them.
Bringing it to the forums so to make it public will not end smoothly.
Also, your title states "someone". A GM is not a someone.tatuaje: grinding mobs and zhenning ???

They've never let people have kanji in guild names as far as I knew. There have been ones disbanded before yours that have had kanji as well.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

^^ This
The subject has been brought up in forums before the date you created your faction0 -
I see factions with non english characters all the time. Unless its an actually offensive word, who cares?
If you made your faction before the 'no foreign character' rule, if there is one, you should at least be compensated for the disbanding of the faction. But the game isn't exactly a democracy..b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Ex Post Facto laws are totally legit here.

I have no issue with a GM, when he speaks, is God's word. I'm just asking for your opinions.
I though a GM is someone, as all we are. But maybe my english is not good enough.0 -

I think I saw a few of your members around Dreamweaver...
Honestly, The rule that no "special" characters are to be used in the faction name has been there since the beginning. People have formed factions, and leveled them, only to have them deleted. Note how you did not see any other factions on the server with special characters in their names (or at least long lasting factions).
The upgrade process has nothing to do with GM's, and it takes a long time for them to notice new factions, unless said faction is reported by other players (what I assumed happened) and the GM attention is drawn to the party in question. Otherwise, gm's are kept busy answering reports, and generally trying to keep the peace.
No. I don't think you should get a new lvl 2 faction. I read through the rules regarding factions prior to the recent updates, and did see that no special characters were to be used. If you had done the same, you would've known that. Your mistake or intentional ignorance was your own downfall. But, if you were a lvl 2 faction, you should have the member numbers to collect for a new one. Maybe not all 2 mil, but pretty darn close.
Just my opinions on the matter.I shall dominate the Dreamweaver server through the use of Baked goods...and only baked goods.^^[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Venomancers are Female. Barbarians are male. It will forever be this way. So suck it up and deal with it already.0 -

But based on the issue with the OP a "someone" in general is not asking them nicely to disband.
This "someone" has authority over all of us during game play which in this case is not an average person.

Yeah - it ought to tell you when you choose the name, but non-English characters have been banned like, forever.
I bet I even know the guild it was, saw it around and figured it'd be for the chop, soon.
Ask the GM for the coins to make a new lvl2 faction?0 -
You've got a direct line to the GM's through the ticketing system (http://support.perfectworld.com/ticketing). As they don't regularly check the boards for questions such as these, I would recommend using the system to send them your concerns.
If you tell them that you weren't aware of the rule and made a mistake, chances are you may be refunded. I am not a GM though in any capacity so don't take that statement as fact.0 -

The thing is that we have sent a ticket, and the answer was just to level a char, disband, etc. No money nor level back...
I assumed that in perfect world INTERNATIONAL, and being able to type kanji letters, they'll allow this. Why they don't just put an in-game filter?
Anyway, thank you all for your post.0 -
Please forward reimbursement requests to the ticketing system.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

GMs disband these guilds because they're ordered to. The problem is that such "rules" aren't allowed in countries like the USA. In other words, if any player feels censored or harassed by it and decides to sue PWI, their office in the USA will be the defendant, not the boss in China who sent the order.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Have to say I agree with this.
I've also seen a number of factions with chinese and japanese names in katakana, kanji and so on but they never seemed to last long and I think it's probably because of the rules. Maybe because they're not easy for people to point out or something? no idea lol. But either way, they are the rules and everyone has to follow them.
I'm sorry you lost 2mil though. :S I guess all you can really do is try and save up again with help of your guildies. I'm not sure a GM would fund something if you were at fault for not having read the rules earlier.
Everything I've said has probably already been said lol... but there's my two cents anyhow.0 -

I had a faction made some time over a year ago with Chinese characters meaning "Transcendent" but was asked to disband it a few months after (and unfortunately because of this...my faction fell apart...). Nowhere did I see any mention of any rules of this...and I even did some research on the forums I think and don't recall seeing anything that says you couldn't do this. If there was, then I guess I was pretty blind, lol.
Fortunately, even though it was just a level one faction, I was given back my puny 100k and I simply made another faction, this time, in English text.
Nowadays, I see people with symbols in their names and wonder if that's even allowed, too? If not, then there should be a CLEAR statement on the dialogue thing with the faction creator-npc-dude-thingy saying that so and so is not allowed and what not...or simply just put "If you cannot type it with the English A-Z alphabet, do not use it!" or something. s: Surely can't be that hard, eh?
Anyway, I think you should be given back your 2m. Some people say it's not a lot but to me, I think it is, especially if your faction was full or near full and you have to end up re-creating it from scratch, re-add everyone should they wish to come back or join another.0 -

In this you would be incorrect. There are few actual 'laws' regarding how MMO's operate in the USA and none saying they don't have the right to limit names or character use. The laws concerning free speech and publication do NOT operate within the strictures of an MMO and is why word filtering/censoring is still allowed by MMO companies to protect their users.
Before you make an assumption that 'free speech' laws apply to something, I would suggest that you actually do some research on it first. If memory serves me correctly both Blizzard and Sony Online Games (SOE) have been sued on this subject and won against the plaintiffs, and because of the TOS and EULA you agree to when you sign up to play the game (read this as the lawyers kicking your backside before you even start), you effectively abrogate your 'rights' to free speech the second you click accept and start the game account.

There's absoutely no abuse in speaking a foreign language. If another language is used to swear, for instance, the abuse is for offending someone, not for speaking a foreign language. There are things that cannot be negotiated in contracts for being beyond the limits of it. For instance, if you sign a contract where you pay something or you'll be murdered and doesn't pay, the murderer will still be a criminal.
You should also take a look at this.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
