How do I repair my sword?

I have a purple ice ring glaive lvl 2 which I'm guessing I got as a quest reward as it states "quest reward-- unable to refine". It is completely broken, down to 0. I took it to the blacksmith and tried to repair it. I had the 18 required yiyan stones. I placed the sword in the box "drag shattered gear here" and the yiyan stones showed up in the box below. But the box wouldn't light up to allow me to repair it. All I could do was click on the "cancell" button. Any suggestions what I'm doing wrong?

    you have to go to the trade list of the blacksmith, then there's a box that says repair. Just click your weapon with it. ^^
