well i know I'm not as high a level but with my HP ornaments I have over 2700 HP unbuffed and over 1500 phys def and 8500 mag def with just my buff with a full magic build and yea I do have decent Shards/Refines. I solo healed my own fb69 with mediocre gear (though I dont know what the fb89s have in store and i've only been a little ways into frost before our tank dc'd, didnt come back and we couldnt find another.)

To the OP, again its all in how you want to play the game. Some people like to be able to take more hits... it makes them feel safer. Others like to see mobs drop at their feet without getting in a single hit (or maybe one). Heck I like to get on my barb sometimes where i can take hits all day long. But its all preference. Yes you will need more HP one way or another whether by adding vit or shards/refines but its up to you how you get it.

Hopefully your 2700 base puts you in the range of about 4,000HP (don't ever try it without hp buff) with beast king's to avoid getting one shot by soulbanisher in 1-3. Hopefully you also have the sense to be well over 5,500+ HP in AA gear when buffed if you ever want to do 2-3 in it's entirety, or not get squished to hell by acephalid rangers in brim. Also, with 2700 base, you should probably not do FF without a barb either. This is the limitations being pure mag, or near pure mag at best, sets upon you. So, sure, one can technically play any build they want, but we can rid of the notion that one can do virtually anything with this build when they cannot. If one puts a reasonable amount into vit, they still do a TON of damage and can survive not only grinding but especially bosses and other events clerics constantly get asked to cleric for. Putting a little more into vit (or quite a bit more for pure mag builds) is also more cost effective for people who don't have the insane amount of money to refine and shard everything extremely high.

you can actually solo heal FF with 2.7k, without a barb. I have but I am also always hp charmed, without one, I don't think you can make it past oceania. But on the note of full mag build, I was full mag build up till 85 had good gears sharded and refined everything. I liked my mag attack, but it's not worth it having such a harder time to survive imo. So at 85 I'm starting to pump vit and bought a reset scroll to take 50 points out of mag and put them into vit. right now killing mobs it takes me the same amount of hits to kill them as it did when I was full mag, and I'm almost to the point where my charm won't tick everytime Oceania uses an aoe.

The hands boss does not do enough constant damage to kill you in the sense where an HP charm would save your life by any means. At that HP, the concern is getting one shot by his AOE, which spread out over more than enough time to use over a dozen chromes before he does another, never mind surviving a hiccup where a hand were to asplode or somebody targets the decoy mob. I've helped several high 70s clerics in FF who had to basically stand some 40-50m away while another cleric did the healing because they kept getting one shot, and they were at 2700HP, and we had no barb. So if you managed to survive, consider yourself lucky.
