2 str, 2 dex, and 1 vit every level is a rather common light armor build. People usually cap their vit after they are satisfied with their survivability and put the extra point into dex for extra accuracy, evasion, and crit.

3 str, 2 dex every level is the heavy armor, all weapons build. This build will allow you to wear heavy armor as well as use fists and claws, which require 2*CLvl+3 dex for claws, and 2*Clvl+2 dex for fists, IIRC. If you don't care about other weapon paths, what you can do is look up and match the str requirement for Heavy Armor at lv.20, then put 2 points into Str every level afterwards, and put the other point into whatever you want (vit, more dex, more str, up to you).

If you want to tank then definitely stay with heavy armor, as it is better for most tanking situations.

All blademasters should wear heavy armor.

    Stats required

5str, 4 dex 1 extra . As you can see you have a spare point. With this stat distribution you will be able to use your level Heavy armor and your level fist/claws.

Some like to take the extra stat and go 6str/4dex every two levels. This allows you to use all weapons of your level.

Others like to use the 5str, 4 dex and 1 vit. Till they feel they have enough vit. Then they will go back to a 6str, 4 dex build.

I'd go 5 str, 4 dex 1 vit and definitely HA if it's purely PvE and you plan on occasional tanking with only fist. Just take into account a 6 str 4 dex build will allow you to use all 4 weapon paths.

If you went 15 mag I'd consider restarting ^^ level 1-20 is very quick and 15 points could hurt in the long run, especially if you plan to go multiple weapon paths.

Damage is based off of str stat. You will be sacrificing damage and the ability to wear heavy armor.

I highly suggest if you are going to be getting vit. to go with 5str 4dex 1 vit every 2 levels.

As a up close melee toon you will be getting hit a lot. With the extra str for damage and the heavy armor you will be taking less damage. Which will make up for the lack of vit. Look for gear; rings; belts helmets; amror etc...thats adds vit. That will make up for it.

This is only a suggestion. Take it as you will.

So is there a good (or maybe just standard) point at which to cap vit?

Most BM's have vastly different opinions on this subject.

Some say 50- 60 vit. Some say 100.

I capped mine at 36. A friend of mine capped his at 30 for easy restat latter to full 6str/4dex build.

Vit helps more at earlier levels then it does at latter levels. Refines for armor get some much better. And the shards you can put in your armor are of a better grade.

Standard rule is if you feel you need more add. One of the best things tokeep in mind is equipment. Equipment with great adds +hp; + vit; etc. will make a huge difference. The fact of whether its 2 star; 3 star or legendary equipment makes a huge difference too. In the end you have to do what you have to do to play your character the way you want.

    Most of all Have fun.

The only right fist build is 6 str 4 dex every 2 levels. Why??? Because LA melee sucks. That's why sins are such an epic fail. It's great for pve and pvp because you can use every other weapon and using heavy armor too. And for tanking? Just use spark eruption + basic attacks and you outdmg dd classes so you will be able to hold aggro. Little warning... You will grab aggro from barbs. Most of them suck and you cause too much aggro. Especially at 60+ where you can get 1.8 attks / sec and even 5 attks/sec at level 99+.
