1perfectworld = malware

After seeing reference to guides listed in these forums on 1perfectworld.com, I tried to go to hat site. Upon typing the URL and pressing Enter, I get a popup from my antivirus telling me that malware is trying to be installed to my computer.

What the heck is the deal? Is that PWE's site? Is this a joke?

    1PW used to be a very a nice site for information... Detailed enough to be complete, but fairly minimalist design, so everything you needed was quick to get to.

    Some time ago, the site changed owners though, and the new version is total garbage compared to that of old.

    The sites for PWI and JD and ESO and Foo! are all PWE's sites. 1perfectworld.com could also be one of their sites, hence my asking. All of PWE's games have a wiki or XXpedia like PWpedia, all part of PWE's sites. I was asking a simple question.

    Thank you for the response and telling me of what has happened to 1perfectworld.com.

    Would it be too much to ask for beginner's guides, newbie tips, and the like forums be updated to not point people to 1perfectworld.com and to maybe use PWI terms, not Perfect World China or whatever. For example, we say Venomancer, they say Werefox. This is PWI's forums, right? Then it should all be in PWI terms and not try to shove us off to some virus-filled website.

    Agreed that the links should be changed, or at the minimum, a blood-red text warning should be placed beside links leading to any known/suspected malware sites. I'm personally well protected, but many people I know are not, and it seems I hear of compromised accounts on a regular basis.

    As for naming conventions, it would be nice, but people are very slow to change their habits. Perhaps it's just my perception, but Lost City seems particularly notorious for its use of HH, hieros, EP, WF, etc etc.

    As time goes by, usage of Malaysian terms should eventually be eclipsed though.

    There are beginners guide and even videos made by the pwe entertaining team that explains about the roles of all classes in this website. There are also guides of each classes made by other players on the forums in this website too. People use sites like 1perfectworld.com cuz you can see there the locations of certain items that you are asked to find in a quest and etc.

    1perfectworld.com indeed has malware on it, its trojan actually. Embeds itself in ur browser's profiles and sits there, lol.

    Thought it was jsut me, Kaspersky keep just blocking the stuff while surfing around there, thought was false positives oh well lol.

    Funny thing...I recieved an email from that site today saying I had a new private message and needed to visit the main page to log in and view it. I haven't been to that sight in 7-8 months lol

    there is a some reason why there is stuffs on FireFox like AdBlockPlus and NoScript....1perctworld works for me nais and np with that oO and kaspersky sux as much as norton meow ? :P

    I received one of those emails myself and haven't logged into that site in I don't know how long.

    That's an interesting statement. I've used many avp's over the years and Kapersky is the best I've ever used. Small footprint, excellent detection/protection. Have you ever used it?

    Kasper is way better then bloated, inefective norton.
    Though i myself prefer avast and online armor.

    As for going to an infected site thinking adblockplus (simply an ad blocker) will keep you safe is a little naive.
    It is better to remain silent and be thought the fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

    I got the same message, luckily my virus protection caught it and immediately deleted it.

    Do NOT go to that website!

    The main URL for OUR website is www.perfectworld.com

    No numbers, no symbols, no country code letters, no spaces, etc.

    PWE isn't responsible for websites we don't own that you go to.

    Please use common sense when visiting fan and phishing websites.

    Kaspersky is an excellent AV program. It is the main one we use here in the office, and test with several others.
    Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

    Norton 2009 is far better than all older version if you read any type of reviews although I am an AVG user. Microsoft is coming out with it own antivirus that will have all other possibly beat.

    You can block ads and have no sripts running in IE and IE works better on this site compared to FF.

    I just contacted the admin of the site the other day and it's now apparently all fixed. I also got an email from them and put the url into firefox and avast went all wild so i contacted him. Apparently it's now safe to go there.

    It was an iframe attack, someone **** into his site and put it on there. It's now safe to go the site once more.

    @Mysti: That's iPW, which is different from 1PW, though still a fan site and not official (and covered in dust and spam from what I can tell).
