Now i just a few days ago got soul burn and yes it is awesome. Against monsters it does 4k worth of damage against players its 1.4k, with 6.2k worth of soul force b:victory.

One thing that puzzles me is its cast time how does that work in pvp i mean once you cast it the player will already be in front of you, so are there any tips as to how to get around its cast time. (did it once so am interested in pvp)

Well unless you aqua impact but it will pose another question after the slow effect the duration of soul burn cast time could easily be compared 2 attacks. Don't get me wrong i love the whole fast killing mage thing but shouldn't a psy be about killing stuff before they reach OR nearly killing it then soul of vengeance does the remaining work.

Nuke + Nuke + Nuke = b:shocked
Its like when you look into the eyes of a cute kitten or puppy it silently steals your soul.

But cmon THEY'RE CUTE!!! [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Use it in group PvP maybe when an opponent isn't focused on you. I imagine it'd be deadly if used on the right person, like an archer zhenning in TW.

Tbh, if you're using Soulburn you want them to be in your face afterwards. b:chuckle

I'm going to guess you mean they're in your face while you're trying to channel it.

But anyways, for 1v1 scenarios, keep a few things in mind.
    1) Range. Against a melee character, it would be wise to start channeling as they try to get in your face. If they are already in your face (like if they caught you by surprise or something), read #3.

    2) Freeze. This is debatable because in the time it takes to cast glacial shards (and HOPE the freeze procs), you could have just been casting Soulburn instead... This is more effective at higher levels when Glacial Shards has a higher success rate, but still somewhat iffy because its 60% chance at max. Good chance, but not great chance.

    3) Stun. Stunning is really our only reliable disables currently. (Maybe that will change when we get our 79+ skills). With Soul of Stunning on, you can get a second or two of time to help channel Soulburn if you react to it quickly. (Over 5000 soulforce should be guaranteed to you by lv50-51 even without refined gear). Of course, if you're stunned too it might be a problem (i.e. if the attacker hit you with a stun skill and that was the trigger to SoS). Depending on the scenario Soul of Retaliation might work better. Also, see #4.

    4) Two words: Earth. Vector. This skill is your friend. Earth Vector is the only truly reliable disable attack we have. (Again, hoping we get more in the 79+ skills). SoS and SoR are good, but Earth Vector is the only stun we have from an offense skill. Even at lv1 its a 76% chance to proc a 3.3 second stun. Much more reliable than Glacial Shards, not to mention stun > freeze anyway. (Freeze stops movement, but not attacks. Stun stops everything.) At max we're talking about a 85% chance to proc a 6 second stun. Amazing. Granted, when the stun doesn't proc, you may be in trouble. But its pretty reliable. Only 1 second to channel and 1 second to cast. The animation is awesome, imo. And the damage is decent. I love this skill.

That being said, I found Soulburn to be more useful after reaching Transcendent and falling in love with Earth Vector, and getting SoR as an alternative to SoS. b:chuckle

Edit: I sounded kinda hard on Glacial Shards in this post. Don't get me wrong, cause I like that skill too and its damage certainly isn't bad. Just saying its not the most reliable way to disable a person. A 40% chance to NOT freeze means that, to me, it's not a reliable enough disable for the really tough spots. Still, I find myself using it fairly often, so yeah.

Against Physical classes: Soul of Retalation -> Earth Vector -> Soulburn -> chi pot -> psychic will -> extreme poison + Aqua Cannon -> if not dead kite and continue with other useful skillcombos?
Against caster classes: Soul of Stunning -> Earth Vector -> Nuke till stun is almost over -> interrupt with landslide -> Soulburn + get hit -> stun cuz of soul and now depending if u got sealed or stunned 2 or not-> extreme poison + Nuke, Nuke, Nuke or glacial/holy path/glacial+holy path to get some time for starting a new combo.

Just as an example, shouldn't be too hard to figure stuff like that out..lol
there are so many ways to combine ur souls and skills for useful combos makin the target unable to do anything to u for about 10 seconds or even more against physical dmg - classes.

Depends on the other player too, but if u have the surprise attack on ur side it's like that nearly everytime.

stun dont stack, just a reminder, dont pull of your earth vector right after soul of stunning,
better earth vector first, then put soul of stunning on

Yeah, but SoS is ment to be casted before ur skillcombos. When u start a battle with Earth Vector the opponent shouldn't be able to hit u first. SoS takes effect after that and u don't have to cast that skill during ur combo. If ur Earth Vector fails in stunning then there is still ur Soul as a "backup stun".
+ In PK mode u may use SoS permanently cuz of our invisible relatives with the 2 daggers q.q
They like to poke a lot >:
