I'm a level 63 wizard (as shown by the display picture >.>) and lately i've been pondering whether to convert to LA or stay pure. I've been having trouble with questing and such, and i think it might be my attack combo. I've been using the same skills as i was when i was 19, DP>Stone Rain>Gush>Pyro>Gush and i think i need to change that up. I'm also strapped for cash lately, so i cant really afford to boost my armor. Right now, im simply waiting for a guild member to get online so she can quest with me, despite her being like 15 levels ahead of me. So, if anyone can tell me where i should invest my money into or give me better combo ideas, that'd be great. My skills are also kind of lacking i believe, and that might have something to do with it, but im not sure whether i should advance them or invest into my armor. Thanks everyone.
I....really have absolutely no idea what im doing. Just givin' you the heads up.

You should keep your Sandstorm as high as possible, it is your main nuke at your lvl. Use it as an opening skill on most mobs and use gush right after, so you get the slow effect. If the mob is near you, use Will the Phoenix, Force of Will or simply use Distance Shrink backwards. Learn to not get hit at all. Restatting to LA could make it easier, but i played to my lvl as a pure mage and it worked just fine. I did most of my quests solo. At lvl 90 you should restat to pure anyway, so you would have to restat twice...
Since your goal has to be not getting hit at all if possible, you should try to find a decent weapon. Are you using Ancient Arbor at the moment? If not, try to get it as your priority. At level 70 the Sakyamunis Light mold would be your best bet, till you can get Wheel of Life at 80 (But that will take some time anyway...).
Also you have to make sure to use the correct Shield in case you get hit anyway. Max your Stone Barrier and use it oh physical mobs.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I dont remember what sword i have off the top of my head...it's the level 60 green-glow TT one, though. Ancient Arbor does sound right. Yeah, with restatting twice, that's kind of the main thing keeping me from going to LA, which the fact that i dont have money or gold doesnt really help. I havent been using Phoenix or Distance Shrink much lately, so i think i'll practice with those tonight. Thanks alot, Xegeth.I....really have absolutely no idea what im doing. Yes, it is the lvl60 TT sword You should be able to resell it once u hit 70 and get a Sakyamuni Mold. Maybe you have to add a little. Depends on how good the deals you get are/how patient you are.
Yes, you really should use them a lot. Phoenix/Force of Will/Distance Shrink are your core skills for questing. You can also get Earthquake on your genie, that helped me as well.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Well, i think I've kind of figured out phoenix, and i have enough money to go from level 2 to level 6 Sandstorm and level 1 to level 3 Force of Will >.>, but that will put me bone dry. So i might just go to level 5 or 6 Sandstorm and wait for some more money or something and start to boost the other skills. Thanks again, Xegeth.I....really have absolutely no idea what im doing. At lv. 65 (As shown by the picture >_>) you should NOT go LA if you wanna improve your PvE, (Lv. 65 was the level I restatted from LA - Pure) because most mobs are Magical and LA will severally decrease your M. Def aswel as your Damage. As for your combos, you should have a different combo for each mob since each mob has different elements, HP and def. (Example: Minions of Alucard, Lv. 67 Water flying mobs: I used Sandstorm > Gush > Stone Rain as a reliable combo (With buff I exchanged Stone Rain with Pyrogram); While with Pyrosomething (Fire ground mobs located below Minions) I used Glacial Snare > Stone Rain > Gush. Also you have to take in consideration their "buffs", if they have Increased Life, use some FoWs, Sparks and spam the hardest hitting Counter-element skill you have, also when you get to Lv. 79 and have Undine+Sleep you can own those kind of mobs ^^. Hope I helped[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=2508297003&dateline=1263853257[/SIGPIC]

Do you have Pyro, Gush, Stone Barrier, Stone Rain maxed? If not I would keep FOW/Phoenix at whatever level they are at and spend spirit there.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

well, I'm around your same level, but you have a couple of levels on me, what I see is that your current combo gives monsters a nice head start running for you. where you have DP>Stone Rain, while leading with these two skills hits hard, it does not slow the mob down at all, by the time you hit gush, the mob will be atleast half-way to you. and doesn't give you much time to hit other skill to finish the mob off.
I find it is better to lead off with a long-cast high-damage skill (varying depending on mob element) then hit gush as my second spell. the basic combo for me as a pure build is Pyrogram > Gush > Stone Rain and if they're still alive after that, Gush once more, then WoP/FoW. against non/wood/earth mobs I like to open with pyrogram for the extra range, against metal/water/fire mobs I'll open with DP/SS(or SR)/GS respectively or whichever ulti I want to burn at the moment.
I will normally take 1 hit from magic mobs if I don't stop my combo chain to cast FoW, and no hits from melee mobs unless I mess up somewhere.
restating LA in PVE doesn't seem worth it to me, unless you're heavily invested in participating in PVP/TW activities. both builds seem effective, but I don't have any problems with survivability when I'm not doing something foolish (pulling with no mana, AE'ing a bunch of archers).0 -

I agree - although start off combo with sandstorm, go with gush second, stone rain (pyro if you really need it) followed, keep FoW and WotP ready when you need it.0
