im making a veno for the faster grinding, and becuz i need change of pace, but i was on pvp server where it was mostly LA venos, are they viable for pve too? or is pure arcane better or even vit arcane? i read the guides but it didnt really help me decide whats better pve, ty.

From level 1 to 60, go pure arcane. At 60, you should be able to tell yourself what you're missing. But in general after 60, either pure arcane, vit arcane and LA works. Arcane is still the most prefered type though for pve.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Vit arcane, sharded with garnets is the best PvE build.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Iv'e been playing a vit arcane and wished I went pure arcane. Between soul transfusion, nature's grace and metabolic boost I never run out of mana or HP.0

Vit is waste for PvE.
Unless you plan on doing bosses with massive AOE's (TT, Frost, etc.). Sure, you could shard your eq with hp shards, but I don't regret putting some points into vit also. It have helped me survive some good aoe's, and gives the cleric some extra time to heal. And yes, I use hp shards in my eq also.
And even though I'm not pure arcane, I still have to pause my skills so that I don't steal agro from my herc...
It all comes down to how you're planning to play. Running alot of instances/bosses, I would prefer some ekstra HP. Planning on just grinding, I prob would've gone arcane. I don't do much pvp, so I can't recommend anything on that subject.*-*-*When I wears my flashing sword and my hand takes hold on judgment. imo, vit arcane is the way to go for pve. Pure arcane does too much dmg and ur pets can't keep aggro away from you. Once the mobs turn on you, it'll be easier to kill you because you have less hp. Having the vit will keep you from stealing aggro as quickly... and once the mobs turn on you, you still have a better chance of survival. Also, with vit arcane, you can still tank all the same bosses as you could with pure arcane. In fact, you can tank more of them. There's not enough of a difference in healing ur pet between vit and pure to really change the outcome of a boss fight, but there's definately a difference on the AoE bosses. A pure arcane won't last against AoE's unless they have a cleric healing them.
Personally, I prefer vit arcane for pvp as well, but that debate is best saved for another day...0 -

Another thing you don't need for PvE is HP (Citrine) Shards. They don't balance out your pdef/mdef, they're more expensive, and they're bonus is not multiplied by your Fox Form skill. Cheaper Garnets are the ticket. It have helped me survive some good aoe's, and gives the cleric some extra time to heal. And yes, I use hp shards in my eq also.
Lower HP/ higher Def gives cleric more time. And even though I'm not pure arcane, I still have to pause my skills so that I don't steal agro from my herc...
A good veno will be busy starting with curses (Soul Degen, Amp, Ironwood), before attacks so it will do more damage while avoiding aggro. It all comes down to how you're planning to play. Running alot of instances/bosses, I would prefer some ekstra HP.
High hp / low def is very inefficient.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0 -
I'm new to the game so I'm verifying what you are saying. For a pve build you are suggesting a vit arcane build. I read the forums. Does that means using robes? I also read that I should add 3 dex, 6 int and 3 strength every 2 levels? I'm a little confused because that requires 12 points and I only had 10 points to spend. What is the difference between a pure arcane and a vit arcane? I'm guessing the latter adds vit but how much?0

Arcane is robes (arcane armor.)
Heavy armor is the only build that requires more than 10 attribute points per level to let you use own level armor and magic weapon. You either let armor or weapon lag your level, or get +stat and/or -req equipment to make up the difference.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If I understand your reply the 3 dex, 6 int and 3 strength every 2 levels is not a pve build. What would one suggest for PVE? Would you suggest:
Str-- enough to wear armor/weapon of choise
int-- max all one can
con-- base
agi-- base
Vit-- not sure about this one???
Armor-- cloth??0 -

there are 4 things you can put stats into. Strength, dexterity, magic, and vitality. A pure arcane puts the minimum points needed everywhere to wear their current lvl for gear and puts all the remaining points into magic. A vit arcane puts the minimum stats needed for your current lvl gear and all the remaining points into vit.
There are 3 types of armour. Heavy armour, light armour, and arcane armour. Heavy armour takes high strength and low dex. Light armour takes medium str and medium dex. Arcane armour takes high magic and low str.0 -
Just curious... Does anyone know the pet heal difference between a pure mag arcane and a pure vit arcane at lvl90? I think I've seen Solandri doing the math somewhere in the forum... could not find that thread any more b:sadMoved to WoW b:bye0

I think pure mag finds they can disregard mdef, so no: they only need worry about pdef for survivability. Adding HP will maintain the unbalance between pdef and mdef. Charm beatings aren't the only problem either. All forms of filling HP are affected like: leech, pots, and 3rd party heals. It can result in more expensive MP through HP pots / Soul Transfusion, longer time in fox form leeching. Also, Fox Form multiplies on your pdef: not HP.
Wizards and Clerics also have skills that multiply on their pdef.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0
