The Hairstyle Glitch... Not a Glitch.

Well, I will try to explain as best as I can in this Thread what I found out through my very own researches upon this very controversed and worrying "Hairstyle Glitch" for those of you who don't know what I speak about, many users have noticed that when the Rising Tide expansion was launched SOME of the Hairstyles seemed to be swapped/changed and yet we failed to receive an explanation for that, even in our Tickets we have sent.
That being told, I decided to do my own researches and I discovered the following... This is not a Glitch, not at all. Most likely the old hairstyles where a Glitch and they have fixed it now. So most likely those old hairstyles will either never get back, either get added again but later... very later on.
At Customizing your character before you could NOTICE that for this Hairstyle for example:
The small thumbnail displaying it appeared as:
So this was actually a Glitch from the beggining. That is how that hairstyle was supposed to look all the time, as I figured out. Meaning this:
Why did they seem to permanently remove it, I have no idea, but it does explain why they fail to answer our Tickets. This problem is not a problem actually, and that is why they fail to have the proper answer/solution to our demands. The only existing glitch on the game is that the "soft strand" effect appears to be gone, the hair looking like this instead:
Those being told, I thought this thread might be helpful for those who still concern about what happened, so I thought to share my small disovery with everyone. Sadly, I had to support the cost of a Makeover Scroll to test this thought of mine and seems I was proved right. If there is anything we should tell them, that is bring the old Hairstyles back (which they might someday) and NOT "fix the glitch" because they... DID fix a glitch as it is seen here.
On the other hand, I would like to demand the improving of animation graphics on the other classes too, because it is just so wrong that the Tideborns got the best looks now... Thank you for reading this and I hope it clears the situation atleast a little bit!

In my opinion, this is still a glitch. Sure the thumbnail is different, but they showed another hairstyle. The fact that we liked that hairstyle and kept it means we're a victim of a soon-to-be-glitch? Sure, I can agree to that. But a way to fix this is they could have just changed the thumbnail instead of changing the hairstyle itself.
That's my two cents right there. b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yes, that's right. But when they "worked" on it seems they didn't think of this too... I looked over all the Hairstyle thumbnails when I got this Scroll and I could not find the one I had previously. That bothered me, but it's out of my hands for now, this is what happens when you play a game made by others that choose for you.0 -
i noticed the thumbnails didnt match up a long time ago.. its been like that.. forever or almost. So i did the best that i could with what was available. However to change it back i have to buy a cash shop item. i dunno doesnt seem extremely fair and my cleric is too ugly to play right now.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Which is glitched is open to interpretation. You're taking the position that the hairstyle was glitched, and has been fixed.
I think most people who had the hairstyle would take the position that the thumbnail was glitched, and now that glitch has been extended to the hairstyle.0 -

Cool story bro0 -
I keep hearing about the "hairstyle glitch" myself, but in my archer's case, she had already had a glitch with her hairstyle when I used the free makeover scroll (from a quest) a few months ago - I chose a specific hairstyle that didn't update correctly, and she ended up with a mesh of her former looks, and the new one I chose. When I logged into the game with her after the expansion, her looks finally changed - might not be what I originally chose, as it has been awhile since I used the makeover scroll.I didn't realize Santa was in a business. I thought it was all good will. Guess I was way off. - NRGLG - Heavens Tear

Players scream for bug fixes.
PWI chooses a bug that doesn't matter and that no one complained about to fix.

I agree.
It could all just be a ploy ... next week they'll have a "Hair Pack" for 1 gold that may contain your original hair style.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Seriously, wth guys0 -
yea, they don't fix the important ones, they fix the pointless ones..0

Maybe we got this backwards, the thumbnail is incorrect and the hairstyles are the ones that are supposed to be there.
I'm freaking out as much as the next person but lets not make threads saying "official" information when its not. I hope its not but we dont have super solid anything to make it official. Besides, PWE is still working on all the problems the expansion caused. It looks like some bugs just take a bit longer to fix than others.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
And now faith, hope, and charity remain; but the greatest of these is charity.0 -

In PWI defense they did answer my ticket asking for before and after shots and more information which I did send in and received an additional response. They have not said they will be bringing back the hairstyle nor what they will do to compensate for makeover scrolls etc but they did respond. Thank you PWI for at least acknowledging my my "complaint". I still want my old hairstyle back... Prehaps a sale on makeover scrolls or a new quest with a scroll as the reward...0 -

I can't wait to hear what happens. I never opened a ticket because I wasn't seeing anyone say anything was being done. I had two 'toons messed up from this and one with the horrid "birthday cake on the head" one that I couldn't stand to look at.
I admit I bought a makeover scroll in the meantime because I couldn't stand to look at her anymore, but I hope something comes of this - a discount or something. I still have one other toon with messed up hair.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Glitch or no, I don't care. I hope you guys all get a hairstyle you're satisfied with. Good thing I hated all the ones that ended up changing. Also Known As: Sora_Kaiyou

One moment... I specified quite clear that this is not something "official" but my own researches. That is why I posted this here instead of the Technical Support zone. I am not very sure I am completely right and all I can do is just do my own researches and share what I found with everyone. Right or not.0 -

And that is what IT IS - a glitch! Most logical and player friendly solution should have been changing the icons (or leave it to be) and leaving haircuts untouched cause those were players choices and they did paid for it. So yes, it is a glitch...0 -
the "americanized" hairstyles are the ones that disappeared
americanized = added/edited for the international version of the game.
if the hair not looking like the icon (and the icon being how the style should look) was the bug, there were countless opportunities to change/fix it. every single patch from the launch of the game to now (release of tideborn).
what it seems to be to me.. is whoever does the localizations for the patches (translating, "americanizing", etc) overlooked the hairstyles.
presumably they dont have these styles (the ones that were lost) over in china on their version of pw. and that is where we get our patches from, and why it takes a few weeks for us to get them, somebody has to sit and sift through every line of code to make sure things work and are not lost in translation. somebody overlooked this.0 -
all the people behind their desks reading our tickets... and all the employees of PWE that are 'aware' of our problem...
you've pissed me off so bad.... still they act like children.. they don't present a solution for us..
they just let this insult linger in our faces in a ruse to make more money.

i want my flipping make over scroll and i want it now0 -
I was gone for less than 2 mos., come back & see my main char. looks totally different! Her hairstyle isn't even close to what it was, & her face has changed as well. although the colors seem to have remained the same. (i only logged on to 2 chars so far & am not aware if there is any further damage)
In my opinion there needs to be a free makeover scroll.mmorpg is R'lyehian for: Innumerable quantities of grown babies
