Aqua Impact VS Glacial Shards

What would you prefer? What do you think is better? Why?
I don't know what skill of those both level up. Im still at lvl 19, but i don't want to waste any point.
At my level i have Impact at lvl1, and i didn't have much trouble due to not leveling up it, and now that i got some more powerfull spells (Landslide), i think i will not use Impact more than to have a 20% chance to freeze enemies. Or maybe not. My Genie can freeze 100% with a 25 meter range, without costing mana to me...
In my opinion, Aqua Impact does not worths those Spirit points because the damage is low in comparison with Shards, the % to freeze is less and the casting times are not much different (of course, the shards needs more time, but not a significant difference). Yes, the cooldown is 5 seconds more, but once the enemy is frozen, i can cast other harmfull spells, and come back to Shards when it's cooldown is over.
And for high levels, i feel like the Aqua Impact will be pretty useless.
What you all think about? Any "high" level psy has experimented with that?
Thnx in advance. Cya.

Perhaps, reading the skill description will help you to understand their own individual usefulness.
One is singular target and the other is AOE style. Not good for solo grinding. As for squad grinding, it may be useful, depends the proc.
Basic skills for psy and mages are never useless.
Because of the low cooldown, it can be chained casted in succession. Also, it scales with our gear.0 -
on the one hand you have a skill that costs you your own mana to cast (and spirit points to level up). OTOH you have a skill that costs you chi stones to keep using forever (and spirit to level up).
In the long run, which do think will cost you more?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I did it before posting this, that's the reason i have the doubt. :?Giodia - Heavens Tear wrote: »One is singular target and the other is AOE style. Not good for solo grinding. As for squad grinding, it may be useful, depends the proc.

If you mean the AoE cant be used for pulling, you are correct, but when i need to pull a single monster, i can use any other spell for that purpose.
If you want to mean "pull + freeze", i can use my genie skill, that costs me nothing, it freezes, it gives me walking speed, and has 25 metre range.Baalbak - Dreamweaver wrote: »on the one hand you have a skill that costs you your own mana to cast (and spirit points to level up). Are you sure that Glacial Shards needs chi?
Right now, i am not logged to the game, but here http://www.ecatomb.net/skillpwi.php it says that this does not uses chi.
Yes, Shards maybe uses more mana, but the real question is: does "Aqua Impact" worths the spirit points spent on it, but thinking on *real* future use? This is: will be so so so useful this spell that any lvl 60, 70, etc... will be used as a must-have? Because, i have tested my new upgraded skills, and i can kill monsters with Spirit Blast>Landslide, and the mobs can't even reach me, so i don't see now (at these low levels) the use of Impact.0 -

[EDIT] What do you think about "Aqua Cannon"?
(Ups, sorry for double post)0 -
Haven't found a use for aqua cannon yet, and I doubt Ill ever will.
As for glacial shards, theyre quite useful especially if you have a tank surrounded by monsters. They have a chance to freeze and costs 175.5 mana to cast.0 -
Personally, I think Aqua Cannon is useful, dunno what I think about leveling it much. It's not a priority, but it is useful, should you be surrounded, or want to use it in connection w/ Landslide."Avaricious often implies a pathological, driven greediness for money or other valuables and usually suggests a concomitant miserliness."0

actually I was referring to the genie skill you were using to "freeze" the enemy. And yes, eventually you will run out of stamina on your genie unless you keep feeding it chi stones. Thus I ask which you think is going to cost you more in the long run.. a genie skill that you must keep feeding chi to your genie to use, or a personal skill that all you need is your own mana.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

What are you talking about? I don't see genie skills mentioned anywhere in here?
She's talking about Glacial shards the Psychic skill, which damages and has a chance to freeze (Although Ecatomb says immobilize....)
Personally, I like my aqua impact, If the mob is slowed I don't even need to resort to landslid.
However, I see where your coming from, as I'm sure I can kill a mob just find with land slide and spirit blast. However, remember that those are both earth elements and when you go to fight earth mobs, your going to have a bit mroe difficulty.
I've never had trouble with spirit, and I managed to waste about 30k on my Genie (I was being dumb, lemme alone :<)
Judging from the skills though, I see no reason that Glacial shards couldn't replace aqua impact except for a few key things.
1. AoE, Glacial shards is going to aggro everything in the area when solo'ing. So you'll have to be pretty damn careful.
2. Mana cost. I don't know specifics, but I'm sure Shards is going to be a chunk more expensive.
3. Cast time and cooldown. Big difference.
4. % chance to.... There's no specifics on it yet, but if the percent chance is to low, it'd prolly be better to hope for a impact slow than a shard freeze.0 -
No body mentioned this, but Aqua Impact slows, it doesn't freeze. Yes, they are two different statuses. Slow reduces movement speed. Freeze prevents movement entirely.
As for the skills themselves, you don't get Glacial Shards until level 39. So for 38 levels, you need SOMETHING to attack with. Keeping them up to date for your level, the combo of Aqua Impact>Spirit Blast>Landslide>Aqua/Spirit is sufficient to kill mobs without taking a single hit (excluding increased m.def mobs). Aqua Impact, as well as Spirit Blast, has a 3 second cooldown time, making it a lot more spammable than Glacial Shards with its 8 second cooldown. Aqua Impact could be replaced by Aqua Cannon as an opener because of the higher reduction in speed, but Aqua Impact is still going to be your bread and butter for dealing damage quickly. Also Known As: Sora_Kaiyou

That is true I relay on aqua impact for alot of my kills. Without aqua impact I'm sure monsters would reach you about 20% of the time, plus Aqua impact effect is activated I wont need landslide.0 -

XD in your face b:chuckle
this left apart, don t choose take both A.Impact is your basic attack with S.blast and in my opinion glacial shards is too good coz of the paralyze effect that is a most for either pve or pvp. And it s said to paralyze not to stun in the description so it s normal that it paralyze.0
