wow Barbs are becoming more and more scarce with the new classes

When the excitement over the new fishes dies down and people get sick of all the oracle noobs on the new server, I'm sure barbs will pop back onto the old servers.

Of course, this isn't the only reason for the lack of barbs. Trying to keep it simple, let's look at the things that make barbs rarer or less wanted.

1. Fishes. The Tideborns be stealin' our barbs until the hype dies down.
2. New server. The Tideborns be stealin' our barbs because they want to go play tank on the new server where they will be needed like a drug addict needs their drugs.

These make our barbs disappear into the thin mist.

3. Greedy barbs. A few barbs who I noticed haven't left, have started to try and charge people for their services. I have to admit, point to them for being so opportunistic, but it's not the best sort of attitude to have. Also, some barbs get this way because people let them be greedy. "I'll tank this for you IF you give me a free charm and pay my repair bill." Chyeah. And people let barbs get away with this, too.
If you're going to say "BH69, wine 60k - but the barb gets it free" don't complain when the next barb who sees you demands they get their BH free too. It's six of one, half a dozen of the other.

This causes some of the nice barbs to hide from all the people raging at greedy barbs, and causes everybody else to want to kick greedy barbs in the face for their bad attitude. Frankly we all need to buck up our ideas on this subject - it's making tanks terribly hard to find.

4. Barbs aren't needed for everything. I find it ironic - an FB squad was looking for a tank for a good half an hour and they didn't manage to find one. (That amazed me in itself, people are like wolves with FBs.) I offered to tank for them, as I am of a high enough level to do so. I was asked if I was a barb. I said no. I was told to **** off, they wanted a barb who could tank.
As players continue to believe that the greedy barbs will eat them out of house and home, and more specifically money, they keep looking for other options when it comes to tanking. Other people believe barbarians are the only tanks in the world and refuse to let other classes perfectly capable of tanking do so.

Again, people need to seriously reconsider their ideas on this. Barbs are not the only tanks - but they are ideal ones. I think people ask for barbs when they don't need to a lot of the time and this can make some busy barbs rather angsty too.

So yes. It's not just the new classes and server making barbs rare, it's a huge tl;dr post!!! J/k. But it is a little bit of all of these things combined that are the cause.

honestly barbs who demand free wines are a disgrace for all barbs

and once this new classes hype is over it will go back to normal i hope(cause i have some alts who need stuff to)
barbs have been always rare mainly cause til you get to mid/high game its very very boring the repairs are dealable if you are a patient person who knows how to spend their money
but for now the new hype is the reason though there will probally always be a lack off barbs

My BH69 became incredibly sexy yesterday. It started as a 55k wine fee and then turned into an FB.
My second BH69 turned into a 60k wine fee, but the three archers in that squad made it an insanely fast run.

I had a lot of fun with those two. =3
(Although that said it would have been cool if the first barb had actually, you know, spammed Ream enough to let me attack without having to stop for a few seconds, every few seconds so I didn't steal.)

Which actually brings us to a point I didn't consider.

The barbs who somehow don't manage to learn how to play their class make people rage when a barb claiming to be a good tank comes along, loses aggro, dies after the rest of the squad does and then says he didn't know he had to level Flesh Ream.
[I've dealt with no less than seven barbs who have said this. It's sickening.]
The greedy barbs, and the ones who don't bother to learn the basic skills for their class, shame all barbarians everywhere.

Personally we need to make a group to specifically destroy the noobs and rebuke the greedy ones.

LOL I took up an offer to join a BH69 squad. Only had an archer, a bm, a cleric another veno and my veno.

They were spamming for a barb for a good 20 minutes so I offered to tank on my veno. They said no way I can tank polearm with my herc. I told them I'm not using the herc to tank but my veno. They all laughed.

Seriously, I've done it before with my veno tanking polearm and a cleric purifying. With alpha male on my genie, I regained aggro twice during that run.

These people don't even know a heavy armored veno in foxform can get the job done.

There's a reason venos have a 120% increase for physical def in foxform.

Although I had fun pissing a barb off today. Level 70 barb demands to join the squad claiming I wouldn't be able to tank Qingzi even if I had heals.
I solo it before he gets there and he cries and ragequits the squad.

The same barb then complains when I appear in an FB39 squad, and after complaining at me for tanking and telling me to know my place, sarcastically asks if I'm going to tank this FB too. Naturally I respond with "Well I can if you're going to whine and don't want to." To which he ragequits the squad again, and I tank anyway.

Other classes aren't the only people who think only a barbarian can tank. ;D There are barbarians out there just as bad and it's laughable.

I can only assist so many ppl. at a time. If ur on at night CST, HT Server, just holler my name, I can solo up to Bh29 and have assisted in BH59. So if ur on my server, just call me, I love Dungeon work, it's a rush for me, for some weird reason. Hahaha

To each their own, but I must say, I find playing a barb a lot of fun.

As is clear from this thread, we're ALWAYS needed just like clerics, so I'm never bored. Just to clarify that, I'm not claiming that we're the only ones who can tank, but there are always people looking for barbs.

It makes finding a BH squad insanely easy, as well as TT and Gamma squads.

Some may find it dull to play a barb, but I don't, and even if I did, the ease of finding a squad as a barb would easily make up for it.

I took out my barb and dusted him off yesterday did bh51 and bh59 with him, then worked on the tideborn quest had to tank general feng ect. I HATE not having range attacks it made me want to instantly log him off b:chuckle

I think i will shelve him awhile again. With my cleric i can tank just about anything long as i can stack iron heart and cast plume shell or guardian light and my hp charm on her lasts for like 2 months or more. and what i cant tank my bf's veno can in most cases b:victory

Just saying, on certain servers (like the malaysian one that I came from before PW-INT launched) it's understood serverwide that barbs do not tank 59fb. It is much more 'efficient' to have a wizard or a cleric tank the fb instead.

I love my furry friends (well, apart from them nasty nef ones that keep trying to run past me with their catapultsb:angry) but most things don't need a barb to tank.

Lolz, I love tanking seat and abaddon for BH, it's fun and it means I don't have to tone down my aggro who.re tendanciesb:laugh

We'd already been in one where the Barb got pwned from the first wave, and sent to 1k, and we stayed until we at least beat the first boss. Here this Barb is, acting like he's the only reason we're going to pass... I'm sick of it. An entire competent party, and the jackasses with E-Peens think they're God... So tired of this BS in this game... I think I'm going to start leveling my barb so at least there's one more competent, nice barb on Sanctuary.

A tank is a tank. No matter your class if know you can tank it. Barbs are fun cause I get to DD. BH69 I tanked all but polearm with the herc or just straight on me. Never tried it in fox form but then I'm not HA. AA venos can tank magic bosses like manta and dragon templar king.

My fastest BH69 run ever...Gaurnob and Polearm tanked by an archer in about 2 mins, including pull time.

I'll give people the benefit of the doubt if they say the can tank it. They'll prove right or wrong on the run

Good for you! I love it when another class can and does tank. It's a rush for me to just DD if needed for that.

I agree there are classes out there that can tank certain bosses way better than I can. But if one of my friends wants me in the squad...I'm there. I'll always be ready to hit alpha male if needed and always ready to hop into Tiger form....The biggest failure for me, as a barb, is if ANY of my squad members die, for whatever reason.

As far as the ppl shouting in WC for 20mins to 2 hours for a barb...I have no idea, I turn WC off as soon as I log in-it's more annoying than Duke Blacke ever was. PM me on the weekends if you need a barb, if I'm not busy I'll help out.

I like my tideborn, and I'll be rolling one on Dreamweaver as well and abandoning my Venomancer. (they're just plain BORRING..)

that's not my point.

here IS my point:

find a lvl 19 bm that can tank fb19; find a 29 that can tank fb29; etc. I haven't seen one yet. in higher levels, sure they can, but barbs are capable of it MUCH earlier (I had a lvl 10 tanking 18s, my lvl 20 can tank 30s)

It's true, I was shocked and surprised to be able to tank my mini-barbs fb19 at level.

Barbs have better tools for tanking, and are able to be better at it.

Whether any given barb is any good or not.... Well, that's another matter.

People laugh at me when I say I can tank lower-level FB's...just 'cause I'm a Wizard, no matter what my level, I can't tank nothin'. I've done so, shoved it in the non-believers faces, and just laugh.

*chuckle* I have stolen aggro from Pole and Nob in BH69...not the tank's fault, I just got really lucky with crits (was LA build at the time). I was able to take a few hits, though, and the Cleric really did act fast.

I quickly apologized and tried to explain, and they understood. Then they said the best line ever: "...that just means you're doing a great job as a DD."

I've been using it ever since.
