Best PVP pet?

ok, so i see that theres been some whispering around about new pets in the rising tides expansion. So whats the best PVP pet? is it still the phenoix (and if you can afford) the sawfly? or are there new better PVP pets besides the phenoix or sawfly?

If so post there names please.

P.S. if you've seen any major selling of the new pvp pets location; post it as well please.

Nix can be used on ground also, if you don't mind it getting stuck on bumps and hills sometimes. And I'm not sure if I would use herc for pvp purpose. It doesn't have that much dmg output, and if you want to use herc for pvp because of it's hp, you're in for a nasty suprise. Not sure if that many ppl will stand there and hammer the herc until they are dead themselves. You need to take down your opponent as fast as possible, and not count on that they only attacking your pet. The trick about the nix, is that it has good dmg, high atk rate, and fleash ream. Hehe.

I agree that punce could be good for pvp, when it hits!

you cant summon nix everywhere and also nix damage is reduced by half when attacking ground targets so a good ground pet is superior to a nix on the ground. As for herc, herc has good hp so it wont die and also has the highest damage output over time of any pet because it attacks at 1/s.


all water pets will get one shot by a high lvl player.

pets dont have reduced dmg like what we do,but i agree with Jellytops.
people usually go after veno instead of pet,i would rather use kowlin for instances besides herc
since kowlin already have bleed and magic debuff.
plus only that kinda place is secret passage and ull probably get banned if u pvp there.
so unless ur planning to kill ur party members,after bh or hh run,everywhere else u can use nix

Nix damage is not reduced when its killing a ground target; regardless of whether you're in the air or not. At least in PvE; I'm not sure if its different in PvP.

Nix is the best pvp pet hands down; unless you are inside an instance where it won't spawn.

hercule with ream would be best choice for pvp in instance becouse:

If I were PvP I'd probably go for a Seamonster Guardian with Claw, Flesh Ream, Bash, and Pounce in addition to a customized Nix.

I suppose I should add something more constructive here.... At the moment, I'm saving for my nix, so I've divided the duty into several parts until I finish. At the moment, I use Foxwing with Ream, Howl, and Thunderbolt for general PvP, and I've been going to dragon temple to try and get Claw and or pounce for it.

However, I've found I prefer land PvP at the moment, until I get nix. I've divided it into several parts two; for barbs and BMs, I have a kowlin with ream, slow, howl, and fireball... I have a threaten scroll too, but I haven't yet decided whether I'm going to drop fireball or howl for it. If I got pounce, I'd replace slow with it. It'll probably handle archers well too once I decide what to take off for threaten. Any suggestions there? Fireball hits HA classes harder than normal attack, but I'm not sure it's worth it for how little more--but by the same token, they already have pretty low mdef. Is more reduction worth it?

The other half, I admit I haven't quite completed yet, but my plan for as soon as I hit 85 is to mage a magekiller firefox with Ream, bash, howl, and shriek. I'm assuming the latter works in PvP, but I'll test it once I'm there--even if not, I can always use it on bosses.

Finally, for water--especially DT--I have a plumpfish with ream added on. Might replace icicle with something else later.

Drop howl. A magic debuff on classes without much in the way of resists in the first place doesn't get you a whole lot of extra damage.

Alright, thanks. Was what I was figuring on, but a second opinion is definitely worthwhile. On that note, can anyone confirm if shriek works in open PvP? I know it does in duels, but bramble is proof we can't count on that, and I haven't had a chance to use the pet I have it on now in open PvP.

uhh in pvp, nix is considered an air unit regardless of what terrain you are.

also flesh ream is good but i prefer pounce on a herc because you can stun lock and nova until they die.

of course the best ground pvp pet would be a herc with flesh ream and pounce and no reflect but that would require two hercs.


My personal ground pet is a kowlin with pounce, flesh ream, howl and pierce. Its nice because its run speed is pretty fast too.

yes u are right,nix is flying pet no matter are u in air or ground lol
but it dont have reduced dmg if target is on ground,go test it.
reduced dmg is only for players not for pets.same way how pets dont have reduced dmg in hh at bosses.
people on ground gonna drop dead fast as those in air,so only for instances u would need
another pet for pvp like what is secret passage,but that is gonna get u banned anyway,

well ur saying wrong lol
nix or any other pet wont do half damage because pets dont have reduce like what players do,
no matter where target is.
plus if target is in water most likely pet wont be able to attack,unless its on top of water <.<

That doesn't make a pet good, that makes it the same as any other pet. Pets ignore level calc differences (except for flesh ream), while your damage output doesn't. A pet will always hold aggro better against stuff higher than you, and worse against stuff lower than you.

No... pets aren't subject to terrain damage reductions.

anyone mind testing that? i cant log on atm but i'm 90% sure that when you attack with a flying pet on another player that is standing on the ground it will do half damage. On a monster it will do full damage.

i tested it a long time ago, and that was the conclusion i came to.

but who knows, i'll have to wait til after new years to test it again.

Nix does full damage from air to water, as far as I know but I haven't really done air to water PK much.

And also to Nyxya, don't say he has never played a veno if your not on this server playing with us, stick your accusations to your own server where you can be at least semi sure of what is going on.

*points* His veno is higher then his wizard.

umm u dont have to attack her right away,every1 would make an assumption (not accusation) that he dont play veno after saying such a thing that nix does half dmg..if he actually does have veno even higher then his mage,its even more sad that veno on that lvl dont know some basic things of his class..wouldnt surprise most of those lvls came with oracles cuz usually thats how oracle players ends..u dont know ur own class b:surrender

scorpion with ream would be the best pvp land pet because of its spike bleed dmg rather than DPS like a herc.

ur conclusion is wrong, it does full dmg.

This is true... unless you're up against a player that has AoEs available like... say...a BM. Then scorpion will go squish.

since pets arent players they dont get damage reduction on the ground from air, even skills will do pve damage (flesh ream for example).
others will say thats a bug but really... pets arent players.

Flesh Ream is the only pet skill that does not suffer damage reduction in pvp. All other pet skills and normal attack damage is reduced by 75%, just like player damage.

As for air to ground/air to water restrictions, there is no reduction, in either pve or pvp.
