Account stash question

I checked the Account stash and even with buying the stone It has a Coin option, just wondering if this can be used with out buying the stone to transfer coin around? OR it its just there and broken.

    you can already use the gold trading at the auctionner to deposit coins with one character from your account and withdraw with another.
    I believe the stones are intended for items: fashion, mounts, gear, mats.. but they could do coins too idk.
