Crossed swords

This is part rant, part question...
Firstly is there ANY way to cast cures or buffs or other protective spells on people with crossed swords beside their name? Secondly, what purpose does this actually serve beside render a clerics assistance completely useless?
I recently ran an FB with a player who had such a symbol (which lasted the full duration of the FB). It made my job as a cleric not merely difficult, but actually impossible!
Ugh... Maybe I should post in the suggetions thread to remove it. b:angry

It means that they are PVP enabled. The option you are looking for is in 'pvp protection settings' one of the buttons next to your minimap.
It's there to stop you accidentally healing someone who is attacking you rather than yourself, but yes, you'll want to turn it off in the situation that you describe.0 -
But I've seen it on non-PvP enabled players. Usually those who've recently been attacked or have fought back against other PK'ers.
I take it theres absolutely no way to cast on someone with that status then?0 -
If they've fought against another player then they are PVP enabled.
Oh - you also can't cast buffs/heals on those who are in a duel, but that shouldn't apply to your situation.
So go to your protections widow (listed as #10 here: http://pwi.perfectworld.com/guide/navigation )
And... the actual dialogue box doesn't look quite like that one. Being careful to not accidentally turn yourself PK-enabled if you don't want to flip the option that lets you buff those who are.0 -
So, you can't even help out a faction member who's being attacked? Forgive me if I think it's a rather silly system. At the very least team members should be exempt from this rule.0
