Making Armor/Obtaining molds

I understand where to get materials, where they are and so on. My question is besides in the shops, where do you obtain these molds? Where do they come from? Is it just from higher level classes? I want to make my armor but can not find the molds.

    They are generally from FB drops.

    Higher level molds (some) can be obtained using Mysterious Chips.

    I see. I have some mysterious chips but states they are for the mysterious merchant; which I have never seen. I have 10, where do I actually take them?
    There is so much depth to this game.

    The mysterious merchant is in the City of a Thousand Streams, at the northwest (top-left) corner of the map.

    I don't think there's really anything you can get with just 10 chips anymore though.
