Have I screwed up?

Shizuka_Rei - Dreamweaver

I am a level 28 arcane robed cleric, aiming to be a healing (vs. attack) cleric and I'm wondering if I have messed up in locating my points. Here are my stats:
Vit: 28
Mag: 70
Str: 25
Dex: 28

If I've screwed up could you please give me some builds to set me straight. Thanks!

I'm gonna just give you my build and let you do the math.

I added vit until I hit 40, then stopped adding. This is my build until 40:

Even numbered level:
1 vit
4 mag

Odd Numbered level:
1 vit
3 mag
1 str

After 40, add the vit to mag

It's not too bad. You have a bit more dex than you need but nothing serious. The points in vit would help with survivability if you decide to continue pumping vit as you level. You only need enough str for you equipment (1 every 2 levels) and the rest should go into mag (you need 3 per level for a current magic weapon) with a few points thrown into vit (you can't heal if you're dead).

Seeing as you have added DEX instead of keeping it at base, you can do 3 things :

- Go for an LA build : meaning enough str and dex for armor, rest into MAG

- Keep going for an Arcane build, NO adding of dex anymore, but you will have lost points you could have put into mag or vit...

- start over or restat if you want to go full arcane.

In my opinion, your best choice is go for an LA build. It works quite well and is recommendable if you don't want to die and want more Pdef and survivability.
La builds work very well up until about lvl 90, where most agree that Arcane is then the way to go. But going LA for now doesn't mean you have to wear a full LA set, you can use robes as well and combine them.

I would restat if you can afford a reset note and get rid of that dex and put all of it in mag.

Yeah, I would've suggested light armor myself if it hadn't been for the points in vit. If Shizuka_Rei is willing to spend the money for a reset note then he (I assume anyone online is a guy) could just take the points of of dex instead.

There aren't really that many points in dex anyway and he could just get a restat later. Sure, the m.atk will be lower than most other clerics at the same level but the difference would be a couple hundred at level 90 compared to a pure magic build. Leveling from 28 to 90 gives plenty of time to decide whether it's worth paying for a reset note (either in coins or with gold).
