Assasins Squishy!!??

Just wondering why a mele class would be squishy... if they gonna use light armor wont assasins get wasted in close combat by barbs and bms?? i realy am looking forward to them and want to make one as my main but worried they gonna die to easy b:cry

err....because they're assassins?.....not warriors/tanks....
most likely they will be about as squishy as an archer.

They are supposed to be very good dd's anywyas, they can even sneak up opponents (you won't literally see them coming) and I think they will also have movement disabling skills.0 -

Evasion my friend. Evasion works great for true fists bms (I knew some great ones) and I bet it will be even better for assassins. I'm curious to see how much hp assassins will get from vit. They prolly won't be as evasive as archers unless they have an evade buff as well but since they will be dealing archer damage at a high attack speed you will probably be able to add a decent amount of vit instead of going pure dex like a lot of archers. Archer dmg at sword bm attack speed will be nuts and if an assassin can manage to get near the amount of hp as bm then they will be quite a challenging opponent b:sin
I'm very curious as too how reliant their damage will be on dex. For a Vit+Dex bm such as myself my damage is still quite good even though my str is capped at 212 rather than 280-300 like some bms/barbs. I don't really know much about archers but I'm guessing they go pure dex because their attack speed is so slow (normally) and they rely on spike damage, also they do not get much hp from vit. It will most certainly be interesting to play around with builds.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

In other games, ninja type characters were strong VS mages and weak against tanks... not like wizard had enough problems b:surrender0

There's someone in my guild that's Chinese and has been looking at sceeshots from the chinese closed beta. They said that assasins will have their own evasion buff. Assasins will also have a buff that gives them 20% of their hp if their hp reaches 0%, making it inpossible to one-shot them unless the skill is on the cool down which I don't recall how long it is. 20% hp regained isn't much, but with charms it can add to the survivability of the Assasin.
Some players might go for havy armor, probably not right away. Usually stat points are a little tight at lower lvls if you try to use a unique build. Yes they would get lower damage and a lower crit rate, but it would add to their survivability I think. I've seen venos go heavy at 90+ and if they do some good refining on their armor for hp they are hard to kill. I think the Assasin might be able to do the same, although it proabaly won't be cheap.
I still have to look at the mechanics of the stealth ability. Some forum threads have decriptions of the mechanics already, but I'm sure the game developers are still in the process of tweaking things so we'll have to doubl check those mechanics when the actual expansion is released here on pwi. I have to admit that this next part is based on conjecture. If the assasins become vissible once they attack something and find that they are losing they could stop attacking and retreat using stealth (if it's on cooldown) so what they are attacking can't target or hit them anymore (based on lvl of the attacker, the lvl of the stealth skill, and the lvl of the defender, the relationship of which will be better understood when the expansion comes out). You cold even use it to let your charm cooldown or your pots cooldown then get back into the fight. I'm sure some skilled players will find clever ways to use their class's skills to add to their own surivability.0 -

I'm pretty sure they'll be squishy. Aren't they in Light Armor? (the worst gear in the game). Archers have a few survivability skills that keep them going, and range stuns/freezes to keep targets in place. LA venos have fox form.. and LA mages have Stone Barrier to keep them alive too. It'll be interesting what the assassins can do in close range yet still survive.

Don't worry...There will be a new Genie skill released called "Feline's Essence"
