I have found a laptop for sale by someone witch advertises the following specs

Specs:
Intel Centrino 1.6Ghz processor
1GB RAM (memory)
40GB Hard drive (expandable)
DVD ROM/CD+/-RW
Wireless network
S-Video Out (watch movies on your TV!)
SD Card reader
Functional battery
AC Power adapter

It comes with windows xp and norton antivirus

Is this a good laptop for gaming?

    Eww, that laptop has ugly specs lol. Just get a good 600$ budget laptop. Shoot I use one with a 500gb hard drive and a 2.2ghz processor.

    Actually, the first generation of Centrino processors were released in March 2003. I'll grant you that it wouldn't have been top of the line back then, but would still have been a decent system.

    I'm guessing that you're looking at this on eBay? Because I haven't seen a computer in any store that came with a 40 gig hard drive for several years. Getting a good computer isn't nearly as expensive as it was, say, 10 years ago. My old computer burned out my mother board, which I could have replaced, but for $100 more than the cost of the mother board, I got a new computer with better...everything pretty much. You know, Black Friday is coming up at the end of the week and stores usually have some pretty good sales going on. Try going to Walmart or Staples and see what they have.

    this was on kijiji, for 300$ (canadian version of eBay)

    i was wondering if it was worth it, since it was cheap.

    Definitely not a good gaming comp.

    My old one was

    1.6 ghz Pentium 4 processor
    2gb of Ram
    120 Hard drive

    and it could barely run PWI at low graphics settings.b:shocked

    My new laptop is much better. Can practically run full graphics perfect.

    2.4 Ghz AMD Turion II Ultra Dual Core
    4 GB RAM
    500 GB Hard drive

    granted it cost a pretty penny but it was worth every bit.

    the best choice is to make it yourself.
    2nd choice is to get it premade. (although Dell and some other brandname computers have bad craftsmanship, overcharge ridiculously, or both.)

    ....for a laptop ehh Toshiba makes good laptops although it's not exactly gamer based. ehhh Samsung, Sony, ASUS, and um Acer?

    they overcharge and has a risk of giving you shoddy hardware. (well not sure about HP or Gateway too much but alienware and Dell for sure overcharge with the risk of getting shoddy hardware.)

    Tell us your budget, and I can provide you with links to help you out with my recommendations.

    General rule for buying ANY gaming gear IMHO, is to get a dedicated nVidia or ATI video chipset, especially on a laptop where it is harder to upgrade the video chipset, or impossible to.

    My personal laptop is an ASUS w/ nVidia 9300M w/512MB, 4GB RAM, Vista 64bit (Will upgrade to Win7 next year after some things are updated), and I can play all PWE games, and 2-3 year old PC 3d games smoothly with med to med/high settings. Good thing for me, I like having most of the graphic settings low so that I have a liquid smooth framerate in multiplayer games.
    Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

    Well one of the best prebuilt deals I've seen was.. a bestbuy (opening day of the store) sold 5 hp computers for I think it was $400.

    Cant remember the specs, but it also, came with a 21 inch monitor, and a printer. Happened like a year ago. Then again, the people who got them lined up at the crack of dawn, and they were refurbished. Oh yea, prices are canadian dollars.

    Actually, i use a toshiba laptop. Qosmio x500 with windows 7. It plays pwi beautifully b:dirty

    It takes max graphics like a charm, PK looks so great in max graphics b:dirty
    Sins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
    Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
    ...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
    Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.

    I don't know anything about building computers, so although it may be cheaper, I can't do it(unless i get someone to do it for me, but then i'd have to pay them, and it probly wouldnt be worth it.)

    -bites tongue and mubbles- i am going to assume that your talking about windows since there really isnt any "software" needed unless you use a VM.. as bootcamp is a hardware bios with small utility to start the install process windows require.. and i have so far many games including 1/2 doz games titles i shant list since its againt the rules of this fourm but feel free to PM me if you have any comments or what not... since i am not gunna start something here that could be disruptive.

    You already have the monitor, keyboard, mouse/input device, speakers, etc?

    You just need a desktop system, correct?

    I will be around on Thanksgiving and Perfect Friday(TM) most of the day, so I can post back today and the next 2 days (next 2 days are US holidays, until Monday).

    There are crazy prices places to buy a PC over this holiday weekend.

    Try to get a good video chipset with at least 512MB made by nVidia or ATI.

    If you get Win7 (or Vista BOO!), you should have 2-4GB or RAM.
