Yes, quests do 'disappear' after many levels of not picking up the quest.
I was early taught to work as well as play,
    My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday.

But if you pick it up but just don't complete it you can keep it indefinitely I think.

+1 on that I think. Never had a quest not completed after quite a few of level-ups, but I will find out soon with my FC quests still being in there. But one thing I know is that if you take a quest and trash it, it will remain in your find quest log for a while. And that trashed quest is the first DQ quest ( since lvl 20 I think ) and the 50 hay quest lol.

I still have my quest to kill Dragon of the Depths, which is a lvl 55 quest. That is, on my Current Quests.

Also, today I finally killed Mantavip Scout to complete the Token of Seven quest. That is a lvl 60 quest.

So yeah, they last a bit.

But some quests have also a max level requirement.
In which case, if you didn't take the quest, and is past the max level to complete it, you can't take it anymore.

Or if you did take the quest, but passed the max level to complete it, you can't complete it, and will have to trash it.

Or... maybe I'm wrong, but I've experienced that once with the first quest (kill 10 lvl 1 mobs)

First example is what OP is talking about.

    Second example is false.

most quests, if not taken from questgiver, will expire once you reach 10 levels higher than quest availability level
(these quests will not expire if you accept them from the questgiver, so long as you keep it in your quest log. you can then complete it whenever you want)

for those that don't, they are available permanently
(these are usually quests important to the character's growth, and/or the game's storyline)

I have had 3 quests disappear from my Quest Log, while they were active. Once was a Spider King quest (not Oracle) and I dc'd right after leaving Arch. When I was able to get back into the game, the quest was missing from my log!

The other two were just this past weekend (on an alt) and I dc'd, on my way to Plume to talk to the Elder. When I was able to get back in game, BOTH quests were vanished from my Quest Log. They were not in "Find Quest" section, but already accepted, and in my regular Quest Log, and working on them. But I dc'd and when I got back into the game, they were missing from the Quest Log. Weird... How does that happen?

I may be a bit directionally dyslexic, but....but... my quests?

Some of quests have time limit like, for example, 30 min.

Some of them you can't repeat after failure, like , for example, this.

Above quest can be taken by players of 29 - 40 levels only.

Exist one quest for spiritual cultivation, which will appear after your (character) death only.

Some of quests are "events' " quests, that can be completed during some period only, like this one.

Also, ome quests are only repeatable once a day. CS, BH, other dalies (past map dalies, cube, etc..) and rank gear npc quests.
I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.
