My Genie Skills

Hey ppl, id just like to get some views from others on the skills and potential skills on my genie.

I currently have a lvl55 zeal genie, with 33/50 lucky points.

Skills i currently have:
-Second wind lvl10
-Extreme Poison lvl8
-Elemental weakness lvl4

I mostly use second wind as an emergancy heal, and i decided to get elemntal weakness, for potentioal pvp later on.
Can anyone tell me the effectiveness of this skill at later lvls?
worth it? or not...?

Also im considering getting tree of protection, seeming as i have another skill slot free, and depending on how my genie levels i may get Holy Path.
Can anyone tell me thier opinion on these?

Also this is aimed at other wiz, but what skills are you using?
Can you suggest any skills that may help me.
Also just so you know, im a pure mag wiz.

    I'm current using two genies, one STR-based and one DEX-based.

    STR-based (mostly gamma)
    Second Wind 10
    Extreme Poison 10 (don't ask me why >_<)
    Cauterize 10 (<3<3<3)
    Holy Path 9 (Yes, a low level genie ._.)

    DEX-based
    Holy Path 10
    Extreme Poison 10
    Absolute Domain 5
    Cauterize 10
    Wind Shield 9

    i hav another slot and shud soon hav an extra 2 slot but not sure wat i want yet so
    i hav kept my affinity that is left over..

    From wat i can see the the 3 i mentions seem to b among the most common..
    the next 2 skills i get will probably be about survival as im pure magic and seem to hav enough attack especailly with Poisen..

    if i cant make that genie to final form (and get the 6th slot), I will replace windshield with extreme posion. Absolute domain is just gold when I'm stunned/paralyzed. Depending on dmg I get I'm going for imune or heal.

    Hey all, thanks for your replies.
    Well i ended up getting treep of protection as my 4th skill, and ok its only at lvl6 but its not that great, and second wind is ALOT better as an emergency heal.
    So suggestions on a different 4th skill and why =)

    for a high HP character (barb any1? lol) tree of protection may be their only way to really get a decent heal out of a genie (because the skill's all % based) but for the lower hp ppl, second wind seems like it would suffice just fine.

    i mostly play veno, and have had holy path save my bacon countless times when pet dies, i also have used holy path to jet thru the barb to bring a mob to him (while playin in hh1-2.. with me at lv60 -_-)
    i'm pro all classes, and against none in particular..
    but the age old QQ about venos is just that. OLD.
    QQ'd about a nix lately? check out this thread n tell me who's "OP" lol..

    hm i added tangling mire on my genie jus to help with pplz that use physical attack.. shud i maybe replace that.. tho i got second wind, tree of protection and holypath i find my genie pretty uselfxD

    I dont see how second wind is any good. Tree of Protection heals me for 1k twice, Second Wind would heal me for a little over 800 once. And that's with lv5 ToP and max Second Wind... even with a STR genie I doubt it'd be worth it.
    Wondering how much longer these **** packs are going to be around.

    Hmm...not too sure also, ive added got 25str points, so if my amazing math skills are correct im healing for 1200, and thats good for now.
    Though i only have 1500 health, with no vit, and no sharded gear, atm.
    Now im going into the 70's i am going to begin sharding to get more HP.

    How much hp do you have at your lvl? and so do you think TOP will become a better option as i get higher and more hp?

    Not Sure whic skill your asking about because there is 4 mentioned..

    Tangling Mire - is a AoE Debuff the decreases targets speed and Phys Res
    Second wind - is an instant heal
    Tree of protection - is a complecated heal..
    Holy Path - is a god send speed buff (NITRO!!)

    Edit : After Lookin around.. the skill that ima goin to add next to go with
    Second wind,Poisen and holy path is Absolute Domain.. Havent tried it yet but god it seems nice !

    Anyway, after everything ive decided to get a new genie...>_<
    Zeal again, this time i kept earthflame on it, and ive decided to make its str bases. So im haveing second wind, extreme poison...still looking for another skill. Im considering occult ice, still any suggestions.
    Oh and is holy path really all its cracked up to be?
    cos it gets mentioned alot... =P

    I had both on a genie for about 2 weeks. both lvl 10. Second Wind wins hands down. A maxed second wind on a 50 str genie heals for 1.6k HP ( 800 base + 2% for each point of str, 2x50=100% - another 800 HP). And it has a nice discreet animation so no one on a 5 mile area knows u just healed yourself. ToP gives a little more healing on a long term, that's true, but Second wind gives you a big boost when needed.

    3 as standered,4 when u hav 41+ Lucky points and 5 when its 61+ not sure on next slot ,my guess wud b 71+ or 81+ tho..

    Isnt it 4standard? then 5skills at 41LP+ and so on...

    It used to be more mag points you had the more skills you could use, but they changed it.

    Holy Path is a staple. Everyone should have it. It's useful in non-escape situations too. When I'm in fox form and someone pulls aggro or attracts an extra mob and starts running around, I hit Holy Path to catch up, then Stunning Blow to freeze the mob long enough for the tank or my pet (or even me, since I'm heavy) to get aggro back.

    At lower levels and at low hp, Second Wind is a better heal than Tree. It has the same cooldown (1 min), but costs 200 stamina (vs. 700 for Tree) and is instant. The main drawback is that its primary stat is str (Tree uses both str and dex). None of my other genie skills use str. With both skills at level 10, I calculated the break-even point at somewhere around 3500-4000 hp. If you have fewer hp, Second Wind will heal more for fewer stat points. If you have more hp, Tree will heal more.

    I'm not a big fan of +% crit. It's an almost negligible increase in average damage in PvE. But it can be very useful to increase the odds of spike damage in PvP.

    Extreme Poison is also a popular choice. It's a 20% damage add like Amp, and stacks with Amp.

    Tangling Mire reduces pdef like Ironwood, but is AOE. I'm not sure if it stacks with Ironwood anymore. But it's popular with folks who like to AOE grind with a herc. You drop it, all the mobs hitting your herc have their pdef lowered, and take more reflect damage.

    Relentless Courage will temporarily speed up your channeling. So some use it when spam healing and they start to fall behind on their heals. I prefer apothecary items for this since they have a much more pronounced effect. But the genie takes up less space, lets you use the skill as often as you need, and has a shorter cooldown.

    Earthquake at level 10 has a 100% chance to interrupt. Since I'm usually in fox form right next to the boss, I have it for nasty bosses as a backup to the barb's interrupt. It's also handy in Cube room 4. I use the bow method to kill in there, and if my pet starts to fall behind I can end up with a lot of the tombstones whacking on me. I just fire off Earthquake to kill them all in one shot.

    The default skill of the Zeal genie (the yellow one) still lets you lure single mobs. I use it almost all the time since it's a lot faster than luring with a pet. The stamina cost could be prohibitive though. I get my chi stones super-cheap so it's never been an issue for me. And at 90+ I hear there's an easy daily quest which gives you a bunch of perfect stones.

    Blinding Sand used to be awesome, but it's been nerfed. All it does now is reduce the target's attack speed. And doesn't even work on bosses.

    I found this using the search feature, I figure it will be useful to people here.


    For me:
    I currently have second wind and leaf dance on my experimental genie. Unfortunately leaf dance maxes out at 2% crit at level one. b:surrender

    I plan on getting holy path and extreme poison, or maybe absolute domain.
