i think it would be very nice to be able to name your personal ingame weapon.
maybe a cash shop item or some kind of coin or material payment to npc?
good idea eh?
do it. im being nice. i didnt even use any curse words.

While it would be funky for somebody to hit "Player Info" and then notice my Unicorn bow is no longer called Unicorn but "Charlie" - I'm sure noobs would then run around looking for the bow named Charlie because they want that particular bow when they level up.
So sadly, I'm against the idea, for the safety of our newblets and the silly noobs. =3
-edit-
Minor addition, just to include the fact, that I wouldn't want to pay for an item like that every time I got a new weapon just because I have a naming fetish.
I would rather rename my mount than my weapon, but I can't do that either.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
b:scorn you just made me rerun in my mind that youtube video charlie the unicorn please don't ever do that again. b:sad that video makes Pressa uphappy[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

I think this was meant more along the lines of something like "Airyll's Unicorn Bow" or "Hisuna's Aquadash" Not really naming it anything you want. If anything it should be a quest though, and let you name one thing. Not a cash shop item. It could be an interesting thing for pkers lol. Go around collecting named gear :P.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Umm...I don't really see the point for this. Let me explain:
While naming might be an available feature for Venomancers, it serves both a practical and extranious function. Anyone who names their pet gets to feel good that the name is unique to them, and if there are a large amount of the same pet in the same area, it becomes far easier to identify what pet belongs to what player. Also, the name is constantly visible while the pet is out, so identification is a very easy thing to do.
Moving onto gear, it makes less sense. Not only will the name not be visible unless a player were to go into "player info" (good lord, please don't put more floating over our heads), people swap out gear at a minimum of once every ten levels. It could functionally serve as a reasonable coin sink, but would inevitably lead to confusion, like Airyll said.
Overall: A decent idea, but it would need significant work before it could be included in the game.I shall dominate the Dreamweaver server through the use of Baked goods...and only baked goods.^^[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Venomancers are Female. Barbarians are male. It will forever be this way. So suck it up and deal with it already.0 -

Now, I recall a game... which I won't name because we're not supposed to name other games here... which had a system kinda like this. Anyone who played it should know which one I mean.
You essentially received a "personalized" weapon as a reward for completing a set of challenge instances in order. Character level didn't matter, because you were set to specific levels, gear, and abilities in each instance (your level/gear/etc only being restored when you succeeded or failed).
Nevertheless, many of these weapons were considered endgame gear and stacked up against the best of them statistically - although not without a significant grind requirement. Basically it started out with virtually no attack power and you had to invest a significant amount of "grind" items - often a couple hundred - into it before it reached its true potential. Visually they looked like very basic weapons, except they showed a different color of weapon glow than any other weapon in the game (and also had a different name color).
Another perk? You could choose the weapon's special ability (for a price).
If PW followed the same basic idea, I could see it happening. *shrug* Though I wonder how we could do it without either having everyone and their dog run around with one, or only allow the "elite" to have them. This other game I speak of set it up so that anyone could get them, but not without a significant time investment, good communication with your squad, and a little luck. Could PWI do this? ...maybe...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Yes, I'm still a stubborn holdout in favor of the old game. Haters gonna hate. ;]

I would say the original poster was on the right track as far as customizing the weapons, however. One thing I would like to see implemented is when you craft an item, there is an option to input a coin amount before crafting. At this point to my knowledge it does nothing but return to you. What if paying an amount of coin made the weapon a little more unique than just stating made by so and so. Whether it be a special glow or a new look or what have you. Like stated there are other games where that sort of thing has been done.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Although the idea is not bad, it would cause a massive number of teen players to get banned (or childish adults) by naming their weapon with an offensive name...
mmmmm wait.. this is a good thing.
Yes please, make it so we can name our weapons.Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.0 -

DING! but i'd never name it something someone already has.
obviously there would be a way to tell the difference between named and unnamed weapons. maybe a different color glow or a denotion at the bottom where it says "manufactured by:xxxxx Named by: xxxxxxxx"
the only reason for this would be fun, like clothes which serve no purpose but to make you look better.
why cant i be glowing purple with electricty with dual axes named Axes of the Lumberjack King?
best idea ever? or bester idea ever? you be the judge.0
