On a BH29 run with a random squad (I was the only cleric) on of our DD stole aggro from Qinzi and began a party wipe.
Havin' already died and used my rez scroll before preventin a prior party wipe due to a reckless BM on the towerling room, I said "hell no. Not gonna die again", so while Qinzi was killin' the last squad member (Tank and BM were already dead) I casted plume shield, popped a chaos orb and finally casted Town portal (lucky for me Qinzi didn't cancel the spell).
I'm not gonna tell you what kind of words they said to me for doin' that. b:chuckle.
So what you think, was the right desicion? I was gonna get killed anyways, rez on town and go back to rez all others anyways. But that way I wasn gonna loose exp b:victory

In BH yesterday, I was kind of rusty because I hadn't been in 69 for a few days. I missed the purify by a few seconds and the barb was uncharmed, and pole started running rampant...I didn't even try to heal whoever had aggro. I headed straight for the center of the pool and let everyone else wipe. Once they were all dead and pole was heading back for his little room, I ressed them all.
The cleric is the only one who HAS to stay alive. No one's there to ress them b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Assuming that you're a Cleric on a BM alt...
I would've just stacked Irons, tanked the hits and rez'd them. Qingzi's ranged is magic based, after all. Unless you're LA, he shouldn't be hitting TOO hard, and Irons would be more than enough to hold you during the Revive casting (just make sure people know to hang back until EVERYONE is up and you can start focusing on the tank again).
Besides...it's WAY more bad-**** when someone pulls, say...Pyro and all his adds, everyone dies cause they all want aggro, and you're standing there tanking them all while they scream at you to run, picking off the adds one by one, then rezing them all while still holding Pyro when he's all that's left. b:laugh
You didn't exactly take a cowardly way out, so much as the cautious approach...but it shows both a lack of experience and confidence in your own abilities.
...Chicken. J/K
Of course...this isn't recommended for something like Pole or Guar, and taking a dive is a smart tactical maneuver if you deem the current situation unsalvageable (I.E. no suitable secondary tank that could hold long enough to get the primary back on their feet).0 -
The most Epic thing I've ever witnessed a cleric do is tank about 6-8 of the Wurlord clones. He was our BB cleric. Somehow we ended up with all of the Wurlords and the pulling veno swears up and down that bramble was off of her herc and I believe her because I watched her buff it. b:victory We all lived, luckily. I was on my hubby's barb tanking the real Wurlord. The weird thing was, after we had all the adds from the like the second or third cloning, no more clones appeared afterwards. That was cool, meant I could run up and fleshream then run back to the safety of BB.0

hey clerics got a skill that reduces xp loss by 90% does the other classes have that? NOb:angry
no need to kill yourself to make a point
but next time know your boss and his damage. and also do a better job healing your squad...and dont use ress scrolls in short dungeons like fb29b:chuckle0 -

That's what I exactly did (my earth resistance is the lowest of them all, he was hittin' on me WAY to hard). Archer died (stole aggro), tank recover aggro, IH IH IH IH tank, rez archer, don't heal archer, IH IH IH tank... but still Quinzi overcame my healing and tank died (BM held quinzi while I rez tank, but died before I could max tank's HP so tank got killed again), and I have all of them maxed (yes, even purehearted).
What annoys me is I have done the same run soo many times and never had a party wipe on Qinzi... I guess that happen when you team up with only DDers and your tank is the lowest level of the squad b:sadRezzErection - Harshlands wrote: »...Chicken. J/KSliding we go, only fear on our side. Thats the funny thing, people like to blame the clerics. In squads without my friends, I "kill" somebody and they start ranting about how awful I am and how there are better ones.
What you did was actually awesome in my opinion! I mean, they were a fail squad in the first place. You are the innocent one there! If you died twice already, don't risk a third. I hate those squads, you die the most and they still blame it all on you, even though their not the ones going back to town and losing precious EXP!
Me, I usually now a days just leave the squad and just do something else (Black listing them too in the meantime b:chuckle) and join a better squad, since you deserve it right?
So if that happens again and you know your in a fail squad, just leave! Best way for them to understand they are fails... b:cute[SIGPIC]http://i933.photobucket.com/albums/ad175/beinghope/beinghopesiggie.png[/SIGPIC]

Nothing wrong with saving your own skin if the party wipe is imminent. You can res them, they can't res you.
Sounds like a lousy squad anyway.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

b:cool totally agree there
Rofl, one of the only times I've gone on a "PK mode" situation was after this stupid BH where I died almost 12 times... Stupid barb kept getting everyone killed... We all PKed him off
He was a complete fail too b:angry He even called (at the time this was the height of Destiny) up Destiny and got a KoS on me and everyone and urrrrrgh.. It is NOT amusing to be killed by your friends... Plus I lost all my armor and weapons and stuff.... I'm glad i don't play on a pk server, lol...
But truth be told, your "tactical withdraw" was good and sensible.
You have to know your bosses. If you're not convinced you can tank him enough to rezz others, withdraw and rezz em when you come back.
The most important character in a squad is the cleric. Without him/her, there is no squad.period. Without him/her there is no rezz.
The most important char for a cleric is the tank. Keep him alive, stack IH and rezz the others, then start IH again on tank. If the tank can't survive the boss for e few with IH stacked, then tbh, it's a bad tank.
I've had a tank saying to me : "no BB" , but IF i had listened to him, half the squad would have died. You heal the way YOU see fit to do so at that moment, not how others dictate how you should play. If someone doesn't like how you play let them play cleric or let them find someone else to be the idiot.0 -

i second this. but if a tank tells me how to do my job when i'm already good at it. i mean 65 levels of cleric you'd be pretty sad if you don't know what ur doing. well if they do. then just let them die back off away from the party it's that simple. Clerics who know what their doing can find a squad pretty easy because their an asset to the party so just leave and find a new one it's that simple. on pk server just kill the guy and leave. if a KoS is put out on you just log off and watch a movie with some popcorn while laughing that he has to get others to kill you because he's unable to and calls you pathetic just means he's pathetic and not really worth playing. just make sure to take note and kill him every time you see him. oh and blacklist is nice too.0 -

I would like to point out that a KoS on a PvE server =/= a KoS on a PvP server here.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

True, just because they don't/can't do their part, doesn't mean you have to give up. But this is only true IF you don't die time&time again because of them.
I've been in some messy squads before, but usually it works out well when i tell them what i'm going to do (using BB, stacking...etc).
Generally people tend to follow certain "rules" according to their class, only occasionally you have some that indeed don't know what they need to do or how, and yell at others for their own mistakes.
Luckily this happens very very rare.0 -

Luckily I never had to quit a squad due to incompetence, from myself or another squad member. Most of the times after the first wipe everyone start doing his part and the squad works fine. It seems the "dead time" waiting for the cleric to rez them is better for planning than the time used before entering the dungeon.
It happened on this run: because of the lvl diff between the tank (lvl 43 barb) and the archer (lvl 49), we told him not to use skills to prevent stealing aggro... and what's the first thing he does? fires a critted lighting strike, steals aggro and all the plan goes down the toilet... along with the life of all others (except mine. I casted IH a few times on the last standin' wizzie to bought me some time for the town portal spell to kick in b:sin)
Also, based on my experience, it is common that the "squad's organiztion problem" (aka leeroy jenkins members that think they can kill'em all by themselves and you need to heal them...and only to them. The rest better have charms or start poppin' HP pots like it is new year's eve) is the first one to leave cause "u guys sux", and after that everything goes smoothly.Sliding we go, only fear on our side. That's... pretty surprising for two reasons.
Firstly, an archer's second highest DPS comes from using just normal attacks (with Demon barrage being highest DPS an archer can attain), so telling the archer to stick to those would actually just help them take aggro faster.
More shockingly, though..... why not just let the archer tank? By the 40s, not only can archers tank Quingzi fairly well (or very easily if in a squad with a good cleric), but they'd also take less damage than a barb does. With a decent archer and cleric, if someone dies you can stack a few IH on the archer, have the archer use winged shell to buy time, res a dead party member, and go back to healing archer.0 -

Finishing a run is a good thing. Keeping yourself alive to come back and res the party when someone else screws up is good too though.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Thanks for the sig Ophida0 -
heh...normal attacking for an archer is a very efficient form of single target dps. higher still i guess if they spark or something.
demon barrage idk, it might be highest if we're talking about multiple opponents, and it would also depend on how much -interval the archer has stacked...
anyways, "use normal attacks so you won't steal aggro" is not going to work. b:chuckle every DD should know you wait a bit before hitting a boss to let the tank build up some aggro.
when the tank goes splat, it should be the DD's job to grab aggro and run around/tank long enough for the cleric to ress the tank, or at least grab aggro to give the cleric enough time to get away. there's nothing wrong with what OP did.Elena Costel: I wash my hands of this affair.

Interesting, I never thought that. The last thing I remember before the slaughter began was the archer launching a lighting strike, that's why I believe he critted that shot since we were doin' just fine. Qinzi had 'bout 1/3~1/4 of his total HP left when the archer stole aggro and I was havin' no problems on keeping the tank's HP maxed. Perhaps that's what happened, archer total damage overcame tanks total damage due to lvl diff between them and not a critted shot on a bad moment as I believed.FatherTed - Dreamweaver wrote: »Finishing a run is a good thing. but don't forget the exp win/lose ratio: if you are loosing more exp than the one you're gonna get, better saddle the horse and go grind, less chances of gettin' killed... or find a better squad b:cuteQuilue - Sanctuary wrote: »anyways, "use normal attacks so you won't steal aggro" is not going to work. b:chuckle every DD should know you wait a bit before hitting a boss to let the tank build up some aggro.
