Shapeshift Intensify doesn't give the entire Def?

Hello community,
I want to discuss this point. I have a problem with Shapeshift Intensify.
I'm a lvl 42 Barb. First I tell my stats & co so that everyone can calculate it on his/her own.
Naked & human:
69 Vit
123 Str
28 Dex
=> 49 Ph Def
Equipped & human:
85 Vit
124 Str
31 Dex
=> 2199 Ph Def
=> 57% Ph dmg reduction
Shapeshift Intensify lvl 4 gives +40% Ph Def like the skill says.
So it should give
2199 x 1,4 = 3079 Ph Def
but the game says
Equipped & Tigerform:
=> 2903 Ph Def
=> 63% Ph Reduction
Difference Ph Def = 2903 - 2199 = 704 ph Def
Relative Differ. Ph Def [%] = (704:2199) x 100% = 32,0% (2199 cause that are Def additional to 2199 !)
So that aren't 40%, that are only ~32% which Shapeshift Intensify gives.
3079 Def it should be. 2903 Def it is in reality
It differs by 176 Def.
Ok, in this calculation the ~50 Def should be calculated, too. So you have to
176 Def - 49 Def = 127 Def.
You can withdraw the 49 Def, cause Shapeshift Intensify normally should only increase the Armor Def by 40%.
But still 127 Def are gone to nowhere and why? I would like to know, why they are left.
(127:2199) x 100% = 5,8% (2199 cause that are Def additional to 2199 !)
But still 127 are gone to nowhere and can someone explain me, why? That are still close to 6% lesser Def as it should be.

diminishing returns
b:byeGifs are hard to make work here0 -
Does it have something to do with the fact that it only increases Armor Def and not the Def that you acquire from your VIT?0

Shapeshifting intensity is not a bonus of your total defense. Just a percentage increase of def given by your armor. Bear in mind you get phys defense from Strength as well. So if you get 2900 def from your armor and say around 1000 from your strength, the 1000 will not be increased where the 2900 will be. Hope that helped :P0

well part of this is true but your vit,str multiplier with armor,oraments and such as i have 92 physical ress tottaly unbuffed but vit,str do ad multipliers to your gear as with just my plate equiped which gives 1378 p.def my def goes to 2008 p.def so thats a left over off 538 p.def out off no where meaning there has to be some multiplier(wont go that far in researching)
anyway in tiger my def is boosted by 60% and its actually 2835
so lets take 60% of my plate's p.def which equals 827
2008+827=2835 so yes your theory is true but keep in mind your armor stats have an multiplier to your def its just not boosted more also the multiplier adapts to mag resses to
wrote this while being bored and doing WQits impossible to always do the right thing we all make mistakes i am not different from that
just try to be a good person
english isn't my native language so there might be a few spelling/grammatical errors in my posts0
