In your case, u bought 350 boxes, and if we take the probability of getting aerogear as 0.1% and horse as 0.2% (http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/quest/17048),
the probability of u not getting any of these is 0.995^350 which is about 17.3%, thats more than 1/6.

Your numbercrunching will not change the fact that this event, and the events made before, are a big scam. Except for the Anniversary packs, where you could still change your "losing" cards (also known as tokens of luck) into something useful, all PW gamblings I took part in only burned coins, golds & in the end real money. Most players over 40 (which is like idk ... almost everybody?) have no use from blue/red eggs or treats that recover like 500 HP/MP.
You're right the chances aren't very good you should expect not to win, and I did not expect it - not sure why I always take part in the gambling, not very clever of me but no matter - but what I am citisizing is that PW does these "events" over and over again. I mean it's a game, a game's first function is to bring ppl fun by playing it, a game's second function is to bring money to the ppl running it as a company. However it would not hurt the company to make a more human chance of winning a rare mount (idk like 5% a pack?) so you can win simply by beeing stubborn/insane enough to buy a larger amount of packs. The gamer is happy cause he/she has a new toy, the company is happy because it has got the money, the gaming world is fun.
And now Mr "magicnumbers" Jolin (Jones?) compare this with the reality:
Lowest droprates -> company still gets the money -> a few players happy, the rest unhappy & scammed.

You QQ because you gambled on an OPTIONAL event and lost.

The reason the prizes are valued are because they are RARE. Giving a 5% chance on any of these items would force them down in price and make them NOT RARE.

By your logic of a place of buisnesses first priority is to make the people happy... Are you really that foolish. Thats like going to a casino and expecting to win. Anytime you open a pack it is a gamble and the main purpose is a coin sink. I'm sure that PWE took this into account and adjusted the rates so that people still won from time to time but that in general money would be drawn out of the server, no different than a casino.

Personally I love the idea too many people running around with too much money. This will draw out a good amount of money and bring the game back to reality so that even lowbies can afford items.

After all less coin in circulation = coin is worth more, simple economics really.

Let me just state this simple thing one more time.

DON'T QQ IF YOU GAMBLE AND LOSE.

Cervantia, as your own post shows, people have gotten mounts within a relatively small amount of boxes, you just have worse luck than them.

The bottom line is you can't call a box that gives you a chance to get an item a "scam" simply because you did not get what you wanted out of it. You are free to not participate if you truly feel this way, but to be honest it seems like your real gripe is that you didn't get a free mount, and unfortunately the truth about these boxes is that you're not guaranteed to get one.

This is why the news post clearly states that you have a chance. If we just wanted to hand out a mount to every single player we would do it, but not being guaranteed a mount is the point of the box. Which is why the quest is repeatable.


From this point on, please post only if you are posting relevant to the topic. I don't want people to get flamed for their opinions, which is why I took the time to clarify.

I got what looks like a birthday cake, it gives you 500 mp and 500 hp and you can use it 20 times. Problem is, I'm a veno and don't need it.

I was going to sell them, but I saw one person in the Lost City, that had 120 of them and she was trying to get 2,000 for each one she couldn't even sell them at that price.

I'm only lvl 16 started playing again yesterday after taking a year or so off. I only just had 100,000.

You'd think it they were going to charge 100,000 they could give us something decent. I realize it says a chance of certain things. But what I got was not worth 100,000. And I see the people who got the real good stuff, had to buy box after box after box, some more than 30 to get a good gift.

I love the pirate outfit. Although I had to visit the NPC on alts to get the right matching colours for my main (green, as usual).

It's too bad it only lasts a few days. I'd love to keep it.

How is this event a scam? You aren't forced to spend money on it, you make the conscious decision to do so. It's gambling. You might get something good, but you have more of a chance to get something mediocre.

It's a gold sink, and a good one at that. Just because of the mount, people are tossing millions out. After the economy was screwed over by the anniversary event this will at least help it a little. It might not be enough to bring it back to where it was, but it's certainly a step in the right direction.

I'm personally not bothering with the 100k+gs chances, but good luck to those of you who do, and congrats to those of you who got the mount.

Lies. Common sense starts off as an item that almost every player has equipped, but as the MMO ages, less and less people manage to find it or equip it until it becomes so rare that not even the best gears in the game can be considered as rare as it is.

I opened 700 any packs and got nothing but tokens; but its not to big of a deal because the tokens still got me to level 90. I was totally prepared to lose; and i knew the chance of getting anything useful was 1% or lower

so if you're going to gamble, know the risks; and when you lose dont QQ you look like a kid.

Well I dont know when the Expansion comes out, but this stuff all seems kinda geared to low levels (namely 500 hp/mp items and gear that would be amazing on a level 5 character). If the expansion came out in a month or two and you had this stuff lying around when you make your Tideborn...

I opened two packs and got 1 HH amulet and 1 HH belt along with a common shard and halloween candy. I got everything I wanted from this event and only spent 4 mil

I bought the items I wanted realizing that in order to get both (playing the odds) I would have had to get upwards 100 packs spending 10mil. So instead I found people that already had the items and bought it off them for less than that... sure If i was lucky I could have gotten both of the items i wanted in less than the 100 packs but hey imo I gambled and won because I still spent less money than it prob would have taken to get the items I wanted.

If you want a specific item it is prob best to just buy it off someone else... Stop QQing about losing ^^
