Why the hell make the cast time 2 seconds, and FoW's effect last for 5 seconds (maxed) when the cast time is part of the effect time? Now don't get me wrong, I love this skill. In PvE. It buys me enough time to take out mobs before ever getting hit. But is this skill useful at all in PvP considering during almost half of it's effect time, you can't do anything as well?

Well, I can't comment on the skill personally, but it makes sense that the effect shouldn't happen before the cause.
O power that lies at the root of all creation,
O memory inscribed in ages past,
Hear my call and arise before me!

FoW is far from being useless

You use it quite often as an interrupt (it's indeed on of our only 2 interrupt spells) f.ex. when you see other players spark/other wizards cast ultis in tw etc.

And never underestimate 3 seconds of peace for a wizard b:laugh

you can fire off a gush then blink so you can kite an opponent while not taking damage >.>

Sins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
    ...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze

Archer, Mage, and Cleric zens in TW can really **** things up. That's why we have FoW; because we can blink into range, disrupt zens, and then holy path away.

It might be better just to think of FoW as a purely defensive spell to buy time. First of all, it gives you 10 (or 15?) chi when you use it, and gives you time to cast sage pyrogram, that combo alone can potentially give up to 55 chi. Also it buys you 5 seconds of time to let your charm ticks recharge. The seal effect also happens in only .5 seconds, meaning you can choose when to seal, since it's faster than most skills.

Don't use it offensively, since it basically just gives them a free 2 second warning that there's a wizzie ready to sutra/nuke their ****.

I guess I was thinking about it wrong. Guess you guys are right. Didn't think about the fact that I use FoW in PvE to avoid damage more than to buy myself time to deal it, so I guess it's the same for PvP. So it IS defensive... I'm used to playing as a cleric is what is is... guess I have to wait for sporific whisper before I can think like that again.

Lol. This skill + sleep, and maybe Occult Ice will save your noob **** countless times in PvP. Not to mention let you complete ridiculous combos. Once you get 3 sparks, you can plan PvP tactics around this skill; for example seal + sutra + dpyro + mountain + pyro + snare + pheonix = target should be down or stunned/sealed through out most of the combo. You can also use the instant-Bt combo.. sutra + seal + BT to take out a retarted ep trying to heal instantly.

Even in tw the skill is rapeage when a mage party is chaining back-to-back seals untill target is down.

    You'll learn to love it.

Probably the best use of this skill is stopping yourself from getting stun locked by BMs.
See a BM running at you, gush once maybe then Seal before they can stun. Shrink and Glacial if you have time, or hail to stun them.

OH. No. I actually played my cleric for a bit after doing nothing but playing my wizard from 1 to about 60. It actually made me play my cleric better, in terms of killing things. All I meant was that I still have a bit of the cleric mentality. It's gradually being replaced by a wizard mentality.
