And yet another noob asking questions, I'm afraid!

Hello! I'm completely new here. Cx Basically, the idea is that I don't know a thing about the game; it hasn't even finished downloading yet. ^^'' However, in other games I've played I've always been a buffing class and I'm familiar with the kind of role played by those classes, so I thought that creating a Cleric sounded like a good idea.
So I just have some questions-- is this a good choice for a newbie? Buffers are often quite poor; is this the case here too? Is the demand for Clerics quite high or quite low, and as such would I have a good chance of making friends and levelling with others?
What sort of stats would I need for a full support, and what equipment? How does this class's skill system work, and what skills do I need? Is there such a thing as a stat-built hybrid here and would that be a better idea on a very low budget? Are there any terms I should know before I start the game?
Finally, is there anything else I should know about it?
Thank you in advance for your help!

wow lol. For most of these actually playing the game will answer most of them.
Clerics:
Heal
Buff
Attack
Debuff
Revive(the only class that can res)
I would say clerics arent the easiest characters for a first time play, but I did it fine. In my faction of 190 players, we have 62 venos, and 56 clerics. Thats a gaint chunk of player base in two classes. There are class stereotypes just like in any other game. Its hard to deal dmg when you have to constantly heal someone else. Clerics are often the first ones to die, mainly due to a tank running out and not grabing all agro, and every heal causes agro. Clerics get better as you lvl them, but I know personally starting out with a cleric was hard for me till around lvl 25 when I met my barb hubby. If the party whips your expected to res in town and res everyone else so they dont lose exp but you always do. Playing a cleric you need to have a backbone. I have often let people die because they want to just rush in there and be stupid.
If you want a more simple class to start and reroll a cleric after learning the game mechanics, I would suggest either Veno(magic attacks +pet to tank so nothing hits you) or a barb(phy dmg, and is the main tank of all the classes) These two are the easiest to lvl.51 lvls in Calamity, **** whomever actually pressed the kick button on me, while I was at work no less, you coward.0 -

I started PWI playing a cleric, and having previous experience in MMORPG i have never found problems. At the beginning the gameplay is simple, you have just few skills, the important thing is to learn the char WHILE it grows.
Clerics are sadly poor, due to their constant MP management issues; you need a lot of pots to keep them high, and pots are expensive. For suggestion about this check there: Guide for coin-management
The demand for clerics is very high in high levels. More up you go, less clerics there are, and very lesser are the good ones. btw, you will feel to be very requested from your 4x with Bounty Hunter quests. What sort of stats would I need for a full support, and what equipment? How does this class's skill system work, and what skills do I need? Is there such a thing as a stat-built hybrid here and would that be a better idea on a very low budget?
First skill to lvl are undoubtely attacks. Before my 4x-5x you won't really spend time being a "support class", in low levels is more important ro be able to make your own quests alone; this means nuke skills up to date (plume shot and great cyclone at the beginning). Rember, in PW full support clerics (i.e. those fools that train only support skills, are a complete fail and it's only matter of time foe them to quit).
Personally, i found very good until 65-70 the hybrid build, it gives you the possibility to survive with cheap gears and still deal good damages. Hybrid build points distribution is (every 2 lvls) 8MAG 1VIT 1STR or 7MAG 2VIT 1STR. Obviously, more the VIT you will put more the HP you will have, otherwise getting more MAG will mean have more attack power but lower HP. Often ppl look for a VIT "cap", a fixed value over which there is no point to go. It is generally between 40 and 100.
Only thing i agree with mandey is that Veno is undoubtely a simple class to start with. But i don't see the point of making a veno to learn to play simply a cleric b:chuckle
PS reading that leveling a barb is simpler than eveling a cleric made me rofl b:laugh0 -

Personally, I find arcane vit cleric has an advantage over the other ones -- more into mag means more powerful attacks, more powerful heals (i.e. more useful cleric), vit means survivability and even more mdef in case you ever want lubs for tanking manta. b:pleased
The skills I would say you'd want to do right off the bat for any support is Ironheart, purify, revive, plume shield (a few points now, more later) buffs (mag atk, physical defense, magic defense, hp/mp regeneration), plume shot, and whirlwind. These will be your bread and butter for a good while until you can save up the sp for other things such as wield thunder, chrome, wellspring, stream, regeneration aura (bb), heavens wrath (rb), tempest, group buffs of the aforementioned (matk, pdef, mdef, regen), and so on. You really don't have to be only support or only attack.
As for finding squads, clerics usually always find squads, and are, I'd say, the 2nd most needed (by the amt of ppl asking for them) class for squads right after barbs.0 -

anyway, u will want to have maxed plume and cyclone (or just plume if u more determinated) to do ur quests ofc - coz yea - u have to do them to lvl up.
but u wont want to learn others attacks coz of lack of sp at low lvls (coz of that i waited rly long even with maxing hp/mp regen buff)
and at ur 4x-5x u will be 'support class' (random quest parties, fbs, bosses, bhs ) and tbh u SHOULD be. Coz if not, then - when u ll learn how to be good cleric? at ur 60-70s after 50th party wipe out in TT?
anywa.. before thinkin bout ur build u shud choose on what type of serv u ll play. pve/pvp determinates a lot :PBUILD EFFICIENCY CALCULATOR: pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1129681
