Pet Bag Slots all opened?

First, i tried searching this, but 'pet' and 'bag' are deemed too small words to search for, and so i didn't get good results searching.
My question: What are the order and opened pet bag spots for the food quests?... ie....
1- gather 20 hay to increase pet bag to 2 slots
2- gather 50 fruit to increase pet bag to 3 slots
3- gather 100 fungus to increase pet bag to 4 slots
4- gather 100 fungus to increase pet bag to 5 slots
Is this right? Are there any other food gathering quests, or should I just go ahead and open the rest with cages? (i heard something about wild ginseng being another quest)
(the reason i ask is that i've been gathering fungus only to have no NPC give me a quest. That's when i realized that i have 5 bag slots opened and might have already finished the fungus quests. Before i spend gold on cages, i want to make sure i have no more food gathering quests to do first!)

20 hay for the third
50 fruit for the fourth
100 fungus for the fifth
There's one after that, 150 wild ginseng or something insane for the sixth except it's not in the game. Without CS items you can't take it past 5 slots. If you're planning to open them all up, just get a super cage and don't worry about the quests.0 -
if u already have 4 slots opened, super cage would be wasting money.
since u would need 6 more cages to open all slots (2 gold ea=12 gold) and super cage is 14 gold..if ur not cash shopper,u would waste over 1mil for nothing (with current price of gold).
maybe u wont even need all slots,i got 8 and its good enough for me..
i got kowlin,shadou cub,ninetailed pyrofoxie,herc,nix,puppy,celestial plumpfish and horse for mount.0 -

If gold is 500k, each pet slot costs you 2 gold, or 1 million.
20 hay @ 10k each works out to 200k, or a savings of 800k.
50 fruit @ 4k each works out to 200k, also a savings of 800k.
100 fungus @ 5k each works out to 500k, for a savings of 500k.
Total savings is 2.1 million, or 4.2 gold saved. Which is more than the 2 gold you save with a super cage. Put another way:
If you just bought regular cages, you'd spend 16 gold, or 8 million coin.
If you bought a super cage, you'd spend 14 gold, or 7 milliion coin.
If you did the quests and bought 5 regular cages, you'd spend 5.9 million coin.
So the cheapest option is to do the quests, then buy 5 additional cages. At least until everyone reads this and starts buying up hay, fruit, and fungus driving up their prices.
Yeah, back from the ban. ^^0 -
Yay! Welcome back Solandri!
Was worried that you'd been hit by a permaban for that (perfectly legitimate) comment.
Also, you can buy Fruit really cheaply by using a catshop buy order in Angler's... I bought most of mine for 500G way back.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I think your math is off here. Cages are 2 gold each, 5 cages=10 gold. With 500k gold that's 5.1 million. Add in the 900k for those three slots, and you're at just about 6 million plus or minus a little depending on the prices on each server. 12 gold would be just over 6 million so although it would be cheaper to just buy cages, there's also the fact that you get all the slots up front which could be worth the 50k or so more you'll pay. Anyways, I would say it's pretty borderline at 500k, if gold goes above that it's certainly cheaper to use cages but at 500 it could go either way, in my opinion really coming down to whether or not you need the bag slots.Yeah, back from the ban. ^^
About time the ban is gone. Especially since you did nothing wrong in the first place.0 -
Not sure I follow. Did I make a mistake somewhere? Seems you've got three choices:
Buy all 8 pet slots individually with cages. 2 gold each = 16 gold = 8 million.
Get all 8 pet slots with a super cage. 14 gold = 7 million.
Get 3 pet slots from the quests for 900k, get 5 from individual cages. 2 gold each = 10 gold = 5 million. Total 5.9 million.
To me, adding the slots one at a time makes more sense. You start with a ground pet and an air pet. After a few levels you add a water pet. Around level 20 you can afford/use a spurred mount. In your 30s and 40s the FBs and BHs start to become a bigger part of your play, so you get a lure pet. After that the extra slots are just for variety.
So slowly adding pet slots one at a time as you need them makes more sense to me. If you get the super cage at the beginning, you're paying a huge opportunity cost by having 7 million invested in pet slots, most of which will likely remain empty for 20-40 levels. (OTOH if you're a cash shopper, $14 is a couple hours work at minimum wage.)
As for the ban, I was talking with a guildmate who had a secondary account perma-banned for a single post. Apparently they have a hair trigger when it comes to any political comparisons with China.0
