Control the inflation

Ok the number one complaint right now is Gold prices. Many people have quit over this issue, and many more are on the verge of quiting. People say no more sales, but this is not the main issue. over 3 months gold went grom 150k to nearly 500k on Heaven's tear. Even when the Anni packs were not in the boutique Gold was still over 300k. This is over 100% inflation in a matter of months. That is a sign of a failing economy.
Since the consumers in this game are not buying physical products, this entire world economy revolves around trust. Trust that the product the consumer is buying is going to be there tomorrow, and will retain its value at least to some extent. Currently people are buying gold because their coin is getting to be less and less, but gold, in comparison is going up and up. If this trend continues, no one will want to sell gold, because the coin you get from it will be outdated quickly. Why is it climbing at such a fast rate? Inflation, like the game has not seen before. This came in two stages. First the Chest of coins. This gave consumers a direct way to turn zen into coin. It is fast, easy and convienent. The problem is that every time this happens 1,000,000 coins appear in the server. Now coins get filtered out by The AH, Crazy stone, Skill trainers, and buying goods from NPCs. and it was nearly even before the chests came out. In fact in the nearly 7 months I played the game before they came out Gold increased about 30k. then after their inception the chests along with the demand for gold from jolly jones increased it nearly 50k in one month.
Next issue, Anniversary Packs. Not so much the packs themselves, but one item out of them in particular; Perfect token of Best luck. Two of these becomes 10 MILLION coins. Now with chests of coins the coin was only 1/5the amount as these per unit. Combine that with the overwhelming demand for the packs, because of their rare items is a path to severe inflation. In one month it went from 150k up to 400k while the packs were out(due to high demand) but even weeks after the event Gold was still over 300k.(That is 100% inflation in one month) Not saying the packs were not a sucess, because with the amount purchased they were definately a sucess. The problem is the excess coin left over by them, without an increased demand for coin.
Finally My solution. We need a coin sink. Something Flashy, that will drain coins out of the Game. I cant tell you what this should be, but I can give a good example. Possibly for one week put an NPC that sells a highly coveted item in the game, and have them only charge coins for it. Somewhat like jolly jones, but without raising the demand for gold. My sugestion would be Charms, or Dragon Orbs. and price them competitively. Below martket Value, but it does not need to be all the way back to where you want Gold price to go down to. This is merely to drain coins out of the economy.
Second if the coin sink is going to be short term, then you will need to restore balance to coin entering and exiting the server. So either make a new permanent coin sink(since the game has shown this is not currently balanced) Or remove Chests of Coins from quest rewards. And eventually the Gold will have a fixed rate once again, or at least more stable.
Any Questions or comments?

Ummm, what do you mean by "normal". Does that mean we get our ~130k gold back? and people had relatively moderate gears?I was early taught to work as well as play,
My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday.0 -

actually what i ment was that people need to stop with all of the complaining. if something (or someone) was going to get/make anything better then it would of happened aready (not saying that nobody isnt doing their job). people are mad and i understand that (300-500k gold prices are ludicrous) but complaining about it every day isnt going to solve anything.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

people can beg the GM's/devs all they want, they cant really change anything, although the coin drain idea is good i doubt many will use it since they will want to keep the money they made
the only real solution is people taking action on their own as many have stated before but honestly i doubt that will happen0 -

Nah, normal as in other PW servers where cheap gold is at 500k+ without any events going on, fashion starts at 2mil, Gold charms are 2mil+, most high levels already have +12 gear. I guess we are not quite there yet.
The only way to stop inflation is to increase costs therefore reducing the amount of disposable income. Fastest way to do that is to fix gold price at 1million coins. That will, in turn, make most consumables very expensive, therefore most people will not have enough coin to spend, that would contract the economy, causing the inflation to stop. Obviously, there would be some very rich people out of it, the ones that are willing to spend RL money to buy gold, however, they do not have the ability to create new coins, specialy if the gold is at 1million, so they would actualy help in bringing in price stability for the masses.Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.0 -
I wasn't complaining that gold is too high, because gold is always Market Value. I was simply saying that there is too much coin in the system, that those who spend money will be able to afford things that just get further and further out of reach for those who dont. I do spend money, a fair amount. What I am getting at is grinding and all in game activities to make coin have become a less effective way to get certain items. I can get 150k an hour grinding, so before I used to be able to afford a charm in 2-3 hours depending on if they were on sale. Now with charms at about 1.2 mil-1.5 mil it takes 8-10 hours of grinding to afford the same charm.0

Actually complaining is the only way to get things done. It is the only way to get the devs and GM to "regulate" the game economy back to normal. Get enough people complaining then something will happen just to get us off their back.
1 million coins is too high. There should be an absolute limit of 150 gold coins per gold piece.
As for the gold coin sink. That one is very easy. All mats needed for regular manufacturing should be available at NPCs. All of them. The special stuff OK. Like accessories should be at the boutique. But "in game" items should be available... well... in game. This is the issue that drives me nuts, and of course in my personal opinion, unbalances the game play. At least if you run into stiff competition for mats because of mat runs then at least they would be available at reasonable prices. This would hold inflation down. And get prices in the player shops reasonable as well.
But like I said... The only way that anything will change is if players complain.
Heck if I was selling gold pieces and some sucker was bidding at 440k per I would be laughing at them as well.0 -
