Youtube = Exp?

Recently decided to give rebirth gamma a try. And like any other experienced player I came across the usual problem, no one will take an inexperienced or train an inexperienced player, most likely due to charm expenses and huge failure risks. Of course a lot of people who run for the first time get help from their faction, but no factions running gamma seem to be recruiting atm either. =/ (I'm a lv83bm on sanc)

A while ago however I noticed on wc someone else complaining about this problem, only to be told to youtube it and that you would then be considered experienced. Personally, even after watching youtube I don't consider myself exp, there's a lot that is a little vauge, especially for a bm. Also telling a squad "yes I'm fully exp, I youtubed it" doesn't sound like it'd go down well.
But who am I to say anything if that's what was said? My only fear would be letting down my squad due to lack of experience, so I'd feel unsure claiming i'm fully exp and potentially misguiding them.

So...my question to you guys is do you consider youtube and reading guides as exp? If you shouted on wc for an exp bm and they came to you, never ran the instance before but watched youtube and read up about it, would you be fine with it?

well youtube is pretty much 4 looks if u think bout it, yea sumtimes it is misleading sooooo...instead of watching an then claiming ure exp, take em as they come, u cant be an expert cuz u keep learning new things an ure not perfect either, yea other ppl know more than u but still, no is perfect so if ure not right 4 the squad, find another squad who'll appreciate u bein in the squad

Have to admit that confused me a little O_o

Thanks for the vid Kannone, combat seems straight forward enough, just aoe like mad and don't die. The only thing I'd be worried about it is my task as a BM, I've heard I'd be a "runner" and since this job needs to be done crazy fast, I'm assuming I'd need to know the route and gimmicks perfectly in order to avoid messing about figuring out the little things.

Question still remains to everyone. You're making a squad, searching an EXP BM and one comes along claiming to be exp. Turns out afterwards he's only watched a youtube vid and never been in the instance, perhaps a little slow and asking questions. Would you be fine with that?

Oh and is vent completely essential?

like i said be4, youtube is all 4 looks, its misleading an yea sumtimes helpful but still, i wouldnt claim 2 be a expert from watching youtube vids, i have my hands in every class except barbs so i know a bit about each class an the approach in sum aspects w what to do...being u still dont believe me bout nobody being perfect i cant change ur opinion but its also not my place to do so, trust me, bein in a squad where ure appreciated is all that matters in my opinion, i dont enjoy ppl callin me a fail but if u do thats up 2 u, like i said, not my place 2 decide 4 u, i gave my help, nothing more that i can do except emphasis that youtube isnt the best thing 2 use in claiming ure an expert or even saying ure an expert when no1 is

watching a youtube vid for exp is bollocks, the only way to get up hand experience is to get in there and try it.

if a guild wont do that for you then there a **** guild and not worth the time, any "real" guild should care about its members and offer them the chance to gain exp

how can we barb get experienced into gamma if we cant do it since we didnt born with RB experience.

i think that u wont call urself an exp RBr after watching a vid, but sure it help a fking LOT

Youtube won't make you an expert and give you absolute knowledge over what to do, but it definitely gives enough so you won't just charge into the RB blindly.

Watching youtube videos wont make you a pro. It just helps you to not look like a COMPLETE ******. Same applies for guides, and tips. Go on a few runs with people willing to gamma with inexperienced players. Best way is gather a few unexperienced players that want to learn, and hopefully, you're in a faction with a few exp'd players willing to walk you guys through it. Do this until you get the hang of it. Just please dont call yourself "experienced" if you havent beaten gamma at least once.

I think it depends on personal attitude.
IF you are a youtube learner, be humble about it. Dont act pro.

Also very few are willing to take in inexperienced members. And reality is, even if you are able to fix yourself up on a all-noob run, if you fail once, 1-2 pple will suddenly have RL things to do and scat right then and there.

Im saying, go on runs with OTHER inexperienced players, with maybe 1-2 exp'd faction members willing to help. This way no one QQs if you mess up. So what if people leave after a run, better than sitting there twiddling your thumbs and hope you magically become pro at rebirth. A few "inexperienced" runs and you should get the hang of it, then join a decent squad (probably exp'd faction run). If you are decent at rebirth, squad should still be fine and make it passed. Then move to "expd" squads.

Need to take into thought time zones and classes. Its not as easy as written on paper. Some classes are more sought out than others. I'll call myself lucky if i can get 1 delta RB per week with my class and timezone.

I would personally recommend to youtube, and research thoroughly through the forums dating back to early this year, and also personal blogs.

Yea, try getting a retarrded first time non-exp'd barb for gamma or archers with level 1 boa.

The real reason for a lot is because your charm (real money) and exp are on the line. For some reason players are crazy cautious about losing exp or wasting money. Same reason why some fb squads demand a 9x barb and a cleric army.
Having fun, making friends, helping others.... these all take second place to the thought of losing a dollar or two in charm and the potential of a few % exp in a game.

I just laugh at those squads that wouldn't take inexperienced players as if they knew RB when they were born.

I was the first in my faction to RB so there was no one to hold my hand and walk me through everything. I learned by tagging along and failing. I failed so many RB's before my first completion. Failure was my teach, and it taught me hell of a lot.

I read the guides, got a charm, got a whole axe path skills and weapon and was willing to do anything they tell me to. Even though I've been RB-ing for months and could do it with my eyes closed, I haven't forgotten how I started. And that's why that I was never bothered by teaching new players as long as they were prepared, since that was where I was 3-4 months ago.
