Cast time Question

Hi,
maybe i've missed something in my reading about clerics, but I can't figure out how casting(channeling) time works. I have a cleric, same level as another cleric with wield thunder(same level), and she's casting about 1.5 time faster than I am. Yesterday I saw another cleric casting IH blessing 1.5 time faster than me. Is there any link between skills to reduce my casting time? By the way, one of the only difference between me and the other cleric is that she upgraded thunderball to level 7. It's not written anywhere that thunderball or some other skill gives bonus. Her equipment is very similar to mine.

    Thunderball has nothing to do with it. For what i know, the only thing that can influence your casting speed are -channelling gears, demon spark eruption (not really your case) the presence of a RB (Heaven's Wrath, also this is not your case),r a -chann debuff, or a wizard's sutra (being your friend clerics, it's nothing to do)

    For what is about -chann gears i must say that only few players can manage to stack it to about -30%. And i am pretty sure are not your friends...

    Besides what was said above:

    Channeling = the amount of time takes the skill to "build" up (the wind up before the pitch)

    Cast = the release/action of the actual skill (the pitch)


    Only thing I can think of is maybe you were slightly lagging. But in all honesty it is hard to see the actual channel/cast times of another player and sometimes they may have the same equip as you but just looks faster.

    In my experience, male clerics always seem to look slower in there channeling to me then female clerics, but it could just be the different mannerisms in which they have for each skill.

    Yes, in fact the two clerics i'm talking about are females clerics(not mine), but I don't think this makes a (that big) difference. We have no super special equipments or high level gears, i'm level 52 and she's level 51. I'll ask her about the channeling time of her wield thunder and write back in the post later.

    I was saying that because of mannerisms in the casting of the skill, it may seem/look like there is a difference.

    If there is no extra enhancement of - channeling, your times will be the same.

    Pretty much its lag. *i should know, have tons of lag on my laptop*
    Its no biggie, it comes and goes >.<!

    To add on above said, unless its -%channeling gear, it cant be faster by any other means.

    It's not computer lags, that's for sure, must be hard connection lags or something, because even the casting animation of wield thunder is faster than my animation and I can really see it, I'll probably make a video on this to show you.

    Running pw at max settings:
    Graphic card: 8800GTX 768MB
    CPU: 2.4GHZ Conroe Core 2 duo
    Ram: 4GB DDr 2 800MHZ
    2 Hard drives with shared page file.

    Watch how the female casts it and watch how you cast it.

    They are different....that can account for you "thinking" one is faster then the other.

    Same can be said for Razor Feathers....same channel/cast time but different animation in the skill because of gender b:surrender

    Even Iron heart is faster and it's the same animation.

    Hmm, -30% stacked channeling ...?

    I see a lot of -3% stuff on the AH, and sometimes at insane prices, but to get it right :

    -3% channeling means you have only 3/100 casts more then someone who casts "normally".

    To be able to get -30% means you have to have loads of cash to buy /make that kind of gear to be able to cast about 1/3 more...

    How does someone get -30% anyway ? is there gear that has more then -3% channeling ? or does that change when refining ??

    There is plenty of -6% channeling gear around. I even saw a ring with a -3% AND a -6% channeling stat the other day.

    It could be they are using some sort of apothocary powder to get better channeling.I know a Veno who uses it to tame pets especially rares.

    Why do male cleric alway flip over to take?

    most of them are from gear.
    alot of them naturally have a -3% prebuilt in, some are lucky stats made from players crafting.

    this is a good example of a lower lvl gear with a real good -6% channeling. Its also actually very affordable too.

    As you up in lvl, more -%channeling will come from weapons. Higher lvl gear/ornaments that are crafted also have a better build in chance of getting these. If you check, the lower gear does not have the option of getting a -6% channeling on a lucky try (hover over the items addons), while the higher lvl ornament does. (whether you actually get it or not is pure luck)

    Frankly it is extremely hard below lv60 to gain a -30% channeling. But once you reach around 80+, it will be way easier.

    And yes anything that IS and above -6% channelin is VERY expensive and somewhat rare below the lv90 gears. Dont even listen to what Slake says cause ive seen only a single 3%+6%(total -9%) channeling ring in my PWI days.

    Is the speed noticeable in just one spell being cast, or are you referring to when you are both casting multiple heals, like for a tank on bosses? Because their is a link like you referred to between 2 skills, that cancels the cast time of the first skill. So they would end up finishing their 2nd spell by the time you are starting it. Along with this, is whether you are using a macro? That guarantees you won't have it happen, lengthening your over-all spell casting time.

    if it hasnt been answered already.

    with wield thunder, the animation is glitched for male clerics while standing on the ground. Males' arms move extremely slow, but the actual channel/cast time is exactly the same as a female. if u both start an attack on a mob at the same time, it will look like you are going slower than her, but u will both attack and deal damage the same time.

    Mhmmm, it might just be your level differences or the level of that spell xD Since after some upgrades your spell is definately going to be faster lol b:chuckle Hope that helped

    casting/channeling time doesnt get effected by your level, or the spells' level for ANY cleric spell *except sage/demon spells, like plumeshot for demon.*
