Cleric vs. Wizard

I am playing with a barb but I would like to have a dude with some spectacular stylish attacks.

Do I take Cleric or Wizard? Do clerics have good attacks? please advice, but give me arguments.

    Depends.

    Cleric is pritty strong, but if you want pure dmg you need a wiz.
    Cleric is easyer, mostly due to healing himself, wiz is more of a chalange (a big chalange)

    Cleric is good for when you want to help people, like to be needed XD
    Wizzies are pritty understemated at low lvls, and actually pritty weak low (though will verry strong late game)
    9 out of 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy... the 10th is singing the music of tetris

    Clerics do not have a particularly wide scope of attacks. Tempest is the flashiest you'll get in my opinion. If you're looking for some cool actions along with graphics to go with a skill, Wizzy might be up your alley. Their double spark skills are probably the flashiest in-game. (I am particularly fond of their water one, blah blah Dragon Strike.)

    Clerics do awesome damage when built properly. I have been leveling my cleric with a BM and often when we attack the same mob I can out damage him.

    As far as DPS is concerned, the fight for the top is between Archers and Wizards. Both are good at stealing agro from a tank. Both hit very hard. The only draw back with a Wizzy is that their skills take a while to channel.

    Want cool attacks, go wizzie cause they have more attacks. (tho cleric tempest animation FTW).

    Cause i am a cleric ill point good stuff about clerics and leave wizzies to say their.

    Good dmg -*tho only 2 main DD skills for a long while*
    Healing -*makes yours life and those of your party much better*
    Fly -*from lv1b:dirty*
    Solo -*played right you can pretty much solo everything except bosses*
    Wanted -*where ever you go youll be stalked b:victory*

    Wow, that's a pretty though decision... gonna watch a video on youtube bout wizard and clerics tomorrow, keep the suggestions flowing though. I'm having a preference for cleric right now btw

    And as wizzie, I'll highlight the best points of wizzie:

    Highest dmg in the game, you'll laugh at some classes when the're talking about crits, cause those don't even match your regular dmg
    Massive mag ress. You'll laugh at the heavy armor guy telling you the mag mob hits him for 2000, when they only tickle you for 200.
    At high lvls, decent phys def when you're using wizzie self buff (gives +100%phys defence, combined with other buffs and good shards that add up real nice) (at low lvls, you're phys def sux, and every mob will hit you very hard b:shocked)
    Some of the best skils in the game (distance shrink to get away from mobs, alot of nice slow spels) to make sure the mob can't even come near you
    The best animations for skils (just watch a Black Ice Dragon Strike and tell me you didn't like how it looked b:angry)
    We rule at high lvls (get laughed at by everyone at low lvls though, but when you get higher you can return that)

    That the downsides:
    Only play if you really like wizzie. Especially the lower lvls are hell, because your kiting skils are still a bit weak, so you have to be extra carefull not to aggro more than 1 mob (yes, low lvl wizzies usually can't even handle more than 1 mob. Though it doesn't take long to kill 1 mob as wizzie)


    Overall, the choise is pritty much down to preference.
    I would suggest to try both, and than decide. Just don't yet the low lvl wizzie hell fool you, at high lvl you can kill any mob before they even get to you

    Mag Resist mobs will kill you if you aren't careful though. With a cleric you're safe, you have a string of Magic skills, and a good physical skill. You can swing either way and still get very good exp off of both mag res and phys res mobs.

    Also BIDS should be even more flashy!! Moar~~~ When the dragon hits not during casting. like the bm ice thing should explode out or something. xD

    And Mountain seize should have like the moutain break up and stuff.

    But without those ya Cleric's lightning beats our ulti in terms of flashiness.

    b:chuckle I like Mountain Seize because you're throwing a mountain at the target's head. The Dragon one is still my favorite though. My Wiz friends makes sure to use it a few times whenever we're together.

    i LUV WIZZES id say go wiz FIRST then try a cleric thats wat i did ._. now i have my wiz and cleric equal lvl ._. id be SUCH a higher lvl if i didnt do that tho ._. my first acc started last september 08 ._. sooooooo TRY BOTH b:cute

    well depends actually but in pvp clerics usually beat wizards

    It is not really a good idea to make poll on what class you want to play just make both up and take them to lvl 19 to see what you like.
    Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.

    Me like both cleric and wizards.
    Don't like barbs/bm/archers.

    Well if you go for the "cool effect" then clerics have flashy lightning attacks. Also Razor feathers looks cool and the light bow (plume shot) isn't bad. Their AoE blessings look cool. So if you're in to the *holy avenger look* then cleric looks good.

    Now if you want pure damage then the wizard is better. The cleric attacks deal almost the same damage and if you get the genie skill thunderstorm you kinda get the same number of relevant attacks (3 primary, 3 middle). The cleric ultimate deals somewhat less damage than the wizard's but at that power both are devastating.

    Wizard takes the damage cake because of 2 skills: undine strike (60% magic debuff, 30% more than cleric debuff) and essential sutra (for six seconds or so you can fire rapidly your spells).

    Clerics are build to last. Many go vitality build and with buffs, plume shield and stacking healing combined with OP sleep and paralyze and even stun (or freeze, I forgot, on Siren Kiss) they are very hard to take down and deal massive damage.

    It's your choice, just build it good.

    I prefer Clerics because I like helping people. You know, you get to buff and heal everyone. But then everyone is always asking you for help (I've even seen/had people demand buffs and resurrections before) and you can never get your own quests done unless you can say no. But the upside of that is that you always get to help in FBs and such. And yeah, clerics can solo everything except bosses if they just make healing themselves the priority. With clerics you have to figure out what order to use healing skills to get the maximum effect and such. But if you're gonna be a damage cleric you pretty much have to figure out the order to attack as well, like the wizards.

    Wizards are pretty awesome too, but they are HARD. You need to know the best orders of attacks for the different types of mobs. Like, to use more water attacks on fire mobs and how you'd make it so that you could get more water attacks in. And then if you have more than one skill that deals damage over time you have to figure out which you should use first.... blah blah blah. Plus, the more magic points you put on him the higher his attack will be, but then you can't use armor that would protect him better while he's grinding alone.

    But Wizards do win the shiny trophy for the graphically-best attacks.

    I've always called Clerics "Wizards that don't suck" because I haven't hit endgame yet. Clerics wear the same armor that Wizards do, but they don't need a friend around to get buffed for improved stats. Having infinite HP is a plus, too. Not to mention the two staple Cleric heals could probably go off before the Wizard's heal is done channeling.

    The main kicker is having both magic and physical damage, though; I've never found a wizard that could put a dent in my HP (without being 20-30 levels over me).

    The only bothersome thing about being a Cleric is the role you play in parties. If someone doesn't know what he/she is doing, keeping everyone alive (including yourself) just got a whole lot harder. Also, unless there are two Clerics in the party, you're more likely to be screwed out of exp if you die.

    Tempest and their squad buffs are about as flashy as they get.

    OK. I, personally, prefer clerics.
    I don't have much experience with either, so this is only a theory.
    Looking at the skills, wizards do appear to have more DPS.
    HOWEVER.
    If you are bringing 2, I think bringing one of each will be the better option. Because even though wizards damage is already epic, the wizards damaged coupled with the clerics de buffs of enemy magic defences, will not only put the clerics damage up significantly, but it will make the wizards even more terrifying.
    But that's just my opinion. b:cute

    Or you could couple that with breaks a veno could get from the Myriad skills. Magic/Armor break owns, especially on bosses with amp and extreme poison!

    There are allot of good veno's out there but BM's and veno's seem to be the choices taken by complete idiots. And I can say that cause I'm a BM. b:laugh

    Not saying that all veno's and BM's are stupid obviously...

    Break > Normal Debuff...

    My current favorite alt is a L42 Cleric. I also have a L39 Wizzy. Wizzy is extremely slow on channeling. I love my cleric. <3

    well, clerics and wizards are esentially 2 different things. clerics have some really good attacks, but from my experience wizards are better damage dealers. the benefit of having a cleric is, of course, the ability to heal. i have a low lvl (lvl 8) wizard, and obviously my lvl 20 cleric. i cant remember having this much difficulty lvling my cleric as i am with my wizard (that might just be me being dumb though ;). i personally prefer my cleric at the moment but then again i am enjoying my wiz more and more as i lvl. so i suppose its just a question of preference.

    With them both being self-tankers, Clerics, in my opinion, have it easier since they can put heal on themselves faster than a Wizard can. A Wizard has extremely slow channeling and in order to make up for that they are given one of the highest DPS rates in the game. Along with that, they have knock back skills, like the Archer does. On my Cleric, I don't think to Seal a mob to stop it from coming at me, mostly because my damage is so good on her any way that I don't take hardly any damage. b:victory Today I was also super pleased to see her one shot a mob three levels lower than herself when she critted slightly over 7k with Wield Thunder (on Native Vipions).

    i have one for everything for female chars at least i find my self at time sometime wondering where a skill went to when a, playing one or the other , i think it ture what other say pure damage is wizard not a lot of healing , though my wiz is not a high lev right now , my cleric is my higher lev and with thank to the healing skills i can go out on my own to kill but have to be carful of mobs and higher levs ,pepole useally look for celric for healing and buffs

    If you prefer being a glass cannon, be a wizard by all means. I wouldn't mind having better skills for healing myself though.

    But I've heard Clerics are always wanted in parties while wizards are not. How many cool attacks do clerics have?
