Disbanding factions with foreign names?

Hi everyone,

I'm the leader of 'Fate火', a friendly little level 1 faction.

Today I was told by a GM that I needed to disband my faction simply because of the chinese character in my faction name, what I'd like to know is why?

(Yes, it was a real GM that was capable of using the "GM" chat and she or he had the red GM symbol next to their name)

The chinese character means "fire", it's nothing offensive, I've seen many other factions with foreign characters (usually japanese or chinese), there are even factions names that are offensive in plain english, yet it is mine that has to be disbanded?

What if it was a level 2 or level 3 faction?
According to the Guild/Faction guide on the website, these factions cannot be disbanded.

What about the money we used to create/upgrade our factions?
Will we be refunded?

There was no rule indicating that we cannot use foreign characters in the faction name and I find all this very appalling.

Are there others who have experienced the same here?
Can anyone confirm whether I really have to disband?

they made a big over-glorified stink about it on sanc too. world chat was spammed all day....

from what i hear, the faction called out the GMs to show themselves by the faction master npc, but when the GMs didn't show, they kept the faction (and afaik, the faction is still around)

i know there's several factions with foriegn letterings in their name on our server, and some of them are upgraded

somehow i doubt this will be enforced, because it'll cause more trouble than it's worth

Players that do not follow these rules will be banned at the discretion of a GM.

Those naming rules apply to anything you can name in the game.

But nevertheless, either way, the GM's usually ignore these rules for the hassle it causes. I mean GodHatesYOU is still part of Sanctuary...

I dont think symbols should be allowed in names as its hard to submit a report about suspected hacking/scamming if you dont know how to do the symbols.

(im not saying names with symbols are cheating, just that it could be hard to submit a report if you suspect they are)

I don't see how this can be enforced...how do they know who you are talking about...if your name is Bob, then you could be saying you suck...is that harassment? b:shutup

Simply ask for the creation refund then and make a new guild. Theres no point in complaining about a simple rule. You were wrong to use the symbol, knowingly or not.

The player doesnt have a foreign sign on his actual nick. This is a game flaw. Anybody with a 'long name' will have some weird sign on the items they make. Check AH and you'll see alot of those.

Foreign = not from the country that the game is located in = US (International stems from it being a foreign game making a move across nations to be brought to US)

would a GM be able to answer me on that?

If you want to be technical,

Obscene = Repulsive; disgusting (A Player can consider anything repulsive or disgusting, that is a pure opinion)

Harrassment = To irritate or torment persistently (So Direct harrassment means that it irritates me directly. I am irritated everytime I see the Word Nefarious, so is that not allowed?)

In other words, most of these are opinions, such as foreign is based off of what country one lives in. (So, if you live in China, Chinese is not a foreign language, and technically english is)

@Forath: International = Extending across or transcending national boundaries (Thus international means that all countries should be able to type what they want in chat. If it was because it wasn't in the Original Country of Origin, it wouldn't be International, but Immigrational, which is defined as "To enter and settle in a country or region to which one is not native")
