Maximizing Damage vs Bosses, Demon style

I am looking for advice on how to maximize damage when going against a boss.

Stats:
- Lvl 89 Demon, and I have the three basic skills (Take Aim, Frost Arrow, Blazing Arrow). Unless someone walks by me and drops a Demon Quickshot on the ground, I do not think I will be obtaining a new skill anytime soon.
- I am using Crimson Horn: Soulsmasher +4, Bracers of Blood Moon, and Rank 4 Chest.
- My Attack Speed is 0.77 attacks / second (Attack Duration of 1.30 seconds per attack).

Which of the following methods should I use? Let's assume Sharpened Tooth Arrow went off already.

(1) Normal attacks, Demon Spark when possible.

(2) Mash Take Aim as fast as possible when it is available, to regain Chi faster. Otherwise, use Normal Attacks. Demon Spark when possible.

(2a) If I do choose (2), should I still mash Take Aim if I Gloom? Or should I wait for Gloom to finish before trying to regain Chi with this technique?

(3) Use a genie skill that increases attack speeds, so that I regain Chi faster so I can Demon Spark more often. (Not preferable b/c of Stamina costs)

(4) Maximize Barrage and use that. (Not preferable b/c of mana costs)

Otherwise i'd say go with 3, stay away from 4 unless multiple targets, I never would really consider 2 myself as chi gains fast enough from normal attacks, and if you want stamina to be conserved then stick with 1.

My style is different, I just have one massive outburst, i spark, mass debuff (tangling mire and extreme poison) the boss and let loose. I love it when i time it with other debuffs such as heaven's flame and amplify damage, i always steal aggro doing that though ^^;;

(and yes I know i'm not demon yet..)

My favorite is #2. With the demon spark you can cast Frenzy + Extreme Poison.
If your genie doesnt have enough mag you can go with #1.

What about (2a) ? Should I let Gloom finish, or should I still use the Take Aim trick?

There is a nice genie skill called cloud eruption, use it lol. it gives you like a full bar of chi for a little bit of energy. Once you have your sparks are full, trigger your eruption, and if you have the energy on your genie use frenzy and/or Ep. just my 2 cents

Hmm... the latest patch made that skill cost 500 stamina. I think that's a bit pricy for me to use constantly.

The full bar of chi occurs with a lvl 99 genie. A lvl 90 genie gets 90 chi.

why do i somehow believe that #2 will cleanly and abruptly get you killed? i only do that as a joke to take aggro and have the boss charge at the squishies when messing around with my fac...and it takes aggro every time just with dual sparks..these are 8x barbs we're talking about too...

ya it works, when i was in RQ we found two Spectral Archers AFK doing a world boss by them seleve way farrr on the map ,they were just spamming normal shots with triple spark,so we pked them and took thier world boss.they continued to lay hier dead for hours, i think we put a player shop next to them saying RQ was here xD

There is only one world boss soloable by an archer and that is Soul Hunter (658 434).

Takes a LONG time though. 23 million HP, plus an attack speed debuff, plus a ranged aoe stun makes for a long fight.

I wonder though, does taping down the auto-attack button count as botting? b:chuckle

Well, couldn't you use a macro filled with normal attacks and the "Do over" at the end? Or does even that chain end at some point?

Normally, you put Do-Over in the front.

Anways, if the boss has AoE stun, that interrupts any macro.

Ethics aside, I think putting a stapler or other weight on the attack button could work. You would have to buy a few hundred thousand arrows (it auto-equips) and equip a charm. My main concern is what happens if your weapon needs repairs. Maybe check every few hours and swap to another weapon if necessary.

Brigid - Harshlands

I don't think you need as many arrows as that. Only about 20 million HP after the Sharpened Tooth, and at an average of maybe 700 damage per shot you'd only need 30k or so ammo. Since you can get 50k in one stack, you should be fine on ammo.

As for repairs, it's easy to lure him to Village of the Lost and stand next to the blacksmith. Just check back every once in a while to repair on the fly. As an added bonus, you get to make all the WQers go "wtf are you doing?" b:chuckle

Charms are unnecessary since he doesn't do damage and you'll just be using normal shots anyway.

The biggest issue is simply the massive amount of time it'd take. I want to say it'll take something like 15-20 hours between the high HP, the attack speed debuff, and the stuns.

soloed it, took under 50k arrows, my hh90 didnt even come close to breaking and it took around 3 hours. got a g9 mana shard ftw. b:surrender

As demon to maximize your damage (PvE):

(1): Quickshot whenever possible until you get the attack speed buff - then continue normal arrows until the buff ends, rinse and repeat until you have 3 sparks. Then Proceed to (2)

(2): Demon Spark and normal attack until the quicken ends. Then Proceed to (1)



If you have Demon Sharpened Tooth you can throw that in for higher critical rates.


Remember to keep Blazing Arrow alive - its only 10 minutes.



Aside from that quickshot is really all you need to maximize your damage. You could add in relentless courage to catch the times when quickshot doesn't activate quicken (its only 50% chance.)


But without a good tank who is much higher than you are - you will only kill your party. Barbarians and Venomancer Hercs the same level as an archer have trouble holding aggro. against Demon Spark Criticals. Couple that with regular criticals, and fast attack rate criticals from quickshot and you have a squad disaster when the boss decides to come kill you then the cleric.

Just be lazy... auto atack, grab sum food n spark~
If ya in a rush.. do the take aim trick.. but once its max.. its around 10ish mana so ya can only use it 10 times before potting... so i only use it like 4-5times n let mana regain again (i have cape of tauran)

I find best tactics for doign the most damage seem to work when timing debuffs with the other members of your squad. For example, I use the Broad Land lvl 85 frostcovered bow, with the proc unrelenting and refined +6. That is unpredictable, but i can predict when a BM will HF, a veno will use sage amp and EP, and when you will have the barb buff for phys attack. While carefully timing this, I managed to land a 74k crit and a 72k crit back to back after my bow proc'd, killing guarnob from 6 percent in 2 hits.

Of course after reading you are a hybrid archer, my biggest suggestion is to lose the vit and add it all to dex.

And to Quilue, I am yet to meet a barb that can hold aggro from me. I call it a pure damage build: minimal str to wear armor (90 str base, +4 str on my leggings but keeps it at 94 so i can wear TT90 LA) and i restatted my vit to 3 and my magic to 3. My dex is at 418 at the moment, and i find every point more useful. I am also a pick of the litter for every TT run and rebirth my friends do, considering i do enough damage to account for 2 high level DDers.

So to sum it up: doing the most damage has to do with your build (maximize dex), your timing (cooperate with squad), and your weapon (refine refine refine!).

Go ahead n pull agro from an Aoe boss.. kill the clerics.. cleric whine for 3 hours to go to town.. call for another cleric to come.. 3 more hours waiting

lol it's more of a challenge. i know how to not take aggro, and i enjoy dying. I don't do party wipes, and i work with a lot of my friends. I present a challenge to barbs, and they try to go through with it. It's just something to make the game more exciting.

And yes, i am proud of aggro stealing and dying. I've developed quite the reputation for being interesting on any runs.

I knoe how its fun takin agro, or sometimes is gud takin agro when theres tons of mobs on barb/bm just to keep them alive..
But also.. any Archer/wiz can take agro if they want too

Actually, Gloom activates so often that I lose the mana anyways. I may as well use it up beforehand.

lols taking aggro from bosses is mainly a joke thing, i wouldn't do it on a serious boss fight that can get the rest of the group killed, so definitely not TT or an aoe boss. well i've done it on polearm b4 during faction bh's but i'd stand far away from the cleric/venos (and next to Kuoleme if anyone knows her x3)
