When should I buy my first ZEN (gold)

As in what level.

    Well - it would be sensible to not buy anything until you're sure that you're going to want to keep playing this character.

    When do you REALLY need something from it?

    It's really up to you. The really useful items early on are the inventory/bank size increases.
    Probably the next most useful one is the hammer, to open your supply stash - which is level 50.
    A faster air mount is also really really tempting.

    And, of course, later on - charms.

    i bought (much XD) zhen at lvl 50. i bought the iron hammer, and wings, a battlecat ( traded it for a HH) and much more. So i got my tt 70 wep, tt 80 gold ( crimson horn : soulsmasher) , my complete TT 70 arm, and much legend weps.

This borders on 2 mil game coin to open a box for a weapon you wont keep forever. 10 levels later at level 60 you get your TT 60 weapon which could be bought in parts or in whole for less than that (~450k is what I've seen not long ago), or simply farmed with a few runs. Lets say you do 5 runs, you're gonna get the mats you need unless you group with greedy people. So even if you don't farm for the subs, that's about 75k (at the high end, 60k if you are lucky) * 6 (5 to open the door in High boss mode, and 1 to craft with) = 360~450k. Of course... if you go the cash shop route with cash rather than game coin traded into gold - 15 gold for 15 dollars (look at it as buying a used game) is a better deal than farming, grinding, and swindling to get 4.6 mil game coin.
