Anniversary catshop scams

At least on sanctuary server im starting to see a TON of catshops advertising BEST tokens for sale but in actuality selling normal tokens for 4.5M+ (yes, the best tokens here sell for average 4.5M and the normal ones sell for 15k give or take)
Im starting to screeny them in case ticketing is an option that will actually work but I have my doubts on that.
Is this the same mostly on every server? Average 1 out of 10 catshops i check now advertise these falsely in name and in price

Yeah, it's pretty lame... and one seller is even trying to sell Golden Scuplture, OHT mats, as cheap tokens for 8k. Now that's petty. lol

1/10 doing the scam? Nope, not like that on Dreamweaver. It's more like 9/10 here. It's almost to the point where it's not worth checking shops advertising best lucks.

People have been "scamming" since the start of the server.

Let the idiots and impatient people get what they deserve imo.

Yep Dreamweaver got infected with them. The worst part about it is the imitators don't even know what they are doing, they're just copying someone else and hoping that it will work. Too bad for them, the more people that do it, the less chance it will actually work. They missed that boat.

I spam there shops with: SCAM.

But it just teaches people to watch what they are buying. Always double check.

People are doing this because it works and it is unfortunate.

Yeah , next time go to the shop you should bring microscope just to check every molecules to make sure it isn't a fake.

Same on HT, and 4.5 is going to be about right everywhere since 2 Best tokens can be traded in for 10mil anyone would be crazy to pay more than 5M for one, I'm sure someone is trying to sell for higher though!

sometimes i wonder if its a tad bit hard for pple who cant read chinese characters to get scammed. Its literally a bunch of lines and squiggles. I can read jp and distinguish chinese letters but if this was say something like arabic that looked squiggly to me... i might make a mistake if im sleepy..

I think lots of peope will have a nice surprize if they ever buy a used car and do not understand what the little sticker on the side that says "as is" means......

Actualy, that is an incorrect statement. The scammers are not in-game because people justify their actions...... They are in game because people do not pay attention and fall for it.... They are not doing it for social recognition, they are doing for pure profit.....

half of these scams clearly state a false advertisement of the wrong product.

It would be like a merchant advertising "All our cars are in top notch shape! All sales final!" and someone buys one that literally has the whole entertainment system broke and the merchant says after "oh we didnt mean THAT one". Thats false advertisement on the merchants behalf, and withholding of information.

However, in the catshops, there is no way to withhold information... all the information is available for the buyer to see....

It would be similar to saying you got scammed because the car dealership advertisement banner showed a red car, but you accidentaly got a green one, because you were not paying attention..... (I know this is stretching)

Not saying some people clearly try to take advantage of others, however in this game, you get a item description on the tooltip of the cursor, so it is impossible to withhold or make the item change its name. If someone managed to do that, than they would get busted for altering game files.

I'm not saying everyone should scam, but if everyone paid attention and didn't let themselves get scammed so easily, those people wouldn't exist because scamming wouldn't be profitable. My first Crazy Stone as soon as I hit level 30 I got scammed, and I learned my lesson and now I check very thoroughly before I click to buy. And my "very thorough" check doesn't take more than 15 seconds.

yes.. totally.. looking at what your buying before you purchase something can severely cut down your chances of getting scammed from a catshop. I stand by this 100%.

I wish people would pay attention, because there's no reason to fall for this when the game gives you all the information you need to avoid it.

But having said that, the whole attitude of the wanting the victim (because that's what they are, careless or not) to "get what they deserve"... no... just... no... Evil cannot be morally justified by such a lame rationalization (well, except to other evil people, of course).

Ironically and sadly, my so-called "evil" girlfriend just saw somebody she knows running a cat-shop with this same scam. It really made her feel like ****, because basically it was the instant loss of a friend for the worst possible reason: finding out that somebody you like with is actually moral scum.

at least there you can get them for 4.5m but on dreamweaver you cant find lower then 4.7m -5m best tokens. if someone looks and says that not like a big difference but 200k or if you buy 2 400k are lots of money. b:surrender

Yeah, everyone should check to avoid scam. However, blame it on the victim and suggest people to continue scamming precisely to annoy the victim like Miss_Tika really deserve a ban or an isolation.

If someone said Ultimate Subs 500k, and used the poweders instead, do you really think anyone would fall for it? But when the Shop says Ultima Subs 40k, people "fall" for it..... The difference between the two cases (both are "scams") is that on the one people fall for it, the victim let greed blind them.

I dont think trusting that the capshop sells as advertised is greed. Naive maybe. Experience too much of that with the pple justifying that its the buyers fault for not looking, and soon you get this good hearted player turning crooked too.

Regarding your example, that victim is guilty for drinking and driving, not guilty for the accident, so your example is invalid. If someone get shotted, perhap someone like you would blame him guilty for not wearing bullet proof clothing too.
The TOS specifically against scamming, the TOS did not said everyone are required to check the item before buying. We should always check the item but that is for the purpose of protecting ourself from unnecessary complication but not for the purpose of letting the scammer have something to justify their action on like Miss_Tika is suggesting.

How come nobody falls for the US 500k one though? Everytime I have seen one of those shops they have always undercut everyone else in arc by at least 20k per unit. And they usualy only have a "few", so it will make people rush so someone else does not buy them first.

The Stones one is a little more complicated, since it is playing with people's boredom and distractions while shopping for stones in Arc. I know when I am in arc, that is the time I catch up on what is going on, so I am not really paying that much attention to what is going on (except when buying things... although I mostly make my own stones), so once you have 4 stones at the right price, it is easy to lower the guard and not notice the 5th one overpriced. However, you do get a confirmation box asking if you are sure you want to buy something for X amount of coins.

If something looks too good to be true, it usualy is..... Also, personal responsibility goes a long way to protect people from less upstanding elements of society. I am sure people lock their doors when they leave the house or go to sleep at night if they live in the city, and I am sure people lock their cars as well and dont leave expensive things inside. People check their receipts to make sure they did not get overcharged when they shop, this is not that much different......

I never tried to justify the person taking advantage, I just point out that in this case, "victim" is also to blame.
Everytime there is a post about scamming, people jump on the "poor victim" and the "you cannot blame victims", I am just pointing out that in fact, you can blame victims, and sometimes they will even end up in bigger trouble than the "criminal".
Obviously they are both guilty of different things, and the degree of how bad it is differs between them, but that does not invalidate that the victim has some blame for not paying attention, in this particular case.
