EVENT: PWI Sitcom Video Contest [Winners Announced]

Another wonderful contest has come to an end. As always, congratulations and thanks go out to everyone who took the time to participate! Comedy is much harder than it looks, ask any successful comedian, but our players managed to extract the humor that comes from a regular day in PWI and make it into a video!



Just to recap, the theme for this contest was PWI themed sitcom commercials! You know, funny one liners, lots of awkwardly hilarious situations that all of us seem to find ourselves in at one point or another.



This theme was much more difficult than any other video contest that we've had, and we salute the participants for their dedication in tackling such a daunting task!



Now, without further ado, we present our three contest winning videos!

Hear ye! Hear ye! Let it be known that the newest PWI video contest has now commenced!


The theme for this month’s video contest will be:

PWI themed sitcom previews/teasers!



For those of you who don’t know what I mean, I’m talking about things like this:

In short: funny one liners, funny situations & discussions, make us want to watch your show!


Previews in the sitcom genre usually tease the audience with excerpts from funny situations or scenes from their show. Now we don’t want them to be 30 seconds long, so feel free to expand on the concept a bit to give us more stuff to laugh at!



When we say PWI related, we know that everyone has had some funny stories about happenings in the game, maybe you have a crazy friend who always makes off-the-wall comments or maybe you’re the guy who always gets stuck in bad situations. Whatever it may be, we want you to make us laugh so hard that tears start rolling down our cheeks!

Prize: Top 3 entrants will receive a Bad Panda land mount!

Rules & Regs:

* Entries must be a maximum of 2:00(minutes) long.
* Entries must be posted via YouTube unless you have a specific issue posting there.
* Must relate to PWI in some way.
* Must be funny!
* All entries must be sent to pwi-events@perfectworldinc.com with the subject "Sitcom Trailer Event".
* Deadline for submissions will be September 28th at 5:00pm PST.

Let's try this again.

Have you guys ever seen the commercials for sitcoms? Yeah the ones with the funny dialogue and quirky characters? Yeah that's right.

We all play PWI here don't we? Yeah that's right.

We all know people who we know in game who are so funny/ill-fortuned that they would make a great base for a sitcom? Yeah definitely.


It's not a PWI commercial, if you think that then you truly did not read the event description.

Maybe the examples are lacking PWI influnce? I dunno. But for more inspiration, perhaps try Grimno's fine examples...

Though Spoons, it'd be nice if we could get some info on prizes.
Last time it was "Any Mount / Air Mount" and people were drooling all over themselves, but I loved browsing the contest thread for new entries and "I hope I win- I'd get THIS!" posts.

The "copyright" material probably isn't an issue here. Venorik used Max Payne clips in his Action vid. And most music has someone's copyright on it anyway. Like with the calendar contests, PWI isn't likely to take issue with it, just the original holder (if they care).

The profanity however... that might be an issue.

As long as it's not being used for profit, I doubt the original holder would have a problem with it. As for PWI, the only restriction is that the video clips themselves have to be taken from within PW. For music, audio clips etc, anything goes.

And sorry spoons, have at this delicious cake I baked with love to make it up to you. Remember to use a spoon. b:laugh
