I'm stuck and I feel stupid...I have found out that the hay is a rare drop but what about the cage?

Cage is only available through CS or buying from another player in game. The gathering quests you get from the Pet lady will only open the 1st 5 slots in your bag, everything after requires a cage. Also, if you use a cage on one of the first 5 slots, it nullifies one of the gathering quests.

The Hay quest isn't really bad. If you get really desperate, could always buy it off of other players.

Hay is not that hard to get, depending on how long you want to wait, best mobs, imo, are as follows:

    Rhinodrakes Megalith
    Level: 22
    Location: Outside West Archosaur

    Antelope
    Level:30
Location Around east and south base of Stairway to heaven
Much better drop rate and are going to be the best mobs to grind, In addition antelope pups drop tons of "Dew of Herbs", can you say ca-ching $$$ b:victory

If you have a water pet you need to lvl Abyssal Mystery have a good drop rate, however the area is thick with aggro water mobs and moving in water is slower so I would still recommend rhinos or antelope as you best bet.

You can get hay earlier in the game from turtles and tortoises, but I wouldn't recommend it, the drop rate is so low you are better off to wait the few lvls and earn some decent coin from other drops while gathering your hay

It's much more coin efficient to do the "gather the fodder quests" then to buy a cage or a super cage, especially with gold prices these days b:shocked.

    Happy hunting b:cuteb:bye

Typically it doesn't take very long to reach lvl 20 and you will already have 2 pet spaces once you learn how to tame. I don't see how this would be an issue, it's not like pokemon where you gotta catch'em all. Typically you will only focus on a few quality pets to start as opposed to many "fluffing" around pets. Remember if you decide not to use a pet your can revert it to an egg for a nominal fee
