I'm lvl 19 and am wondering what the best land, water, and air pet is for a light armor veno. I've heard a volcanic magmite, golem, petite sawfly, treefrog, etc. But I don't know what's the best pet for my build.

So, in your opinion, what's the best pet? I'd like answers from people who are light armor venos themselves who know best. But anyone who know about it is welcome to answer too!

Thanks! =)

the pets you would use would probably be no different from the pets you use as other armored venos (maybe besides Heavy armored ones) since you need the pet to be able to tank as its main job.
Land: A magmite or a Shaodu Cub (rare lvl20 pet) would be fine, a magmite being a beastly physical tank while having little magical defense, and a cub being a more overall tank, if you do use a cub, becareful for the amount of damage you do, because it doesn't have fantastically high atk as the golem does. Also, a treefrog would be used as a magic monster tank, since it has as high of magic defense as a magmite with physical defense.
Water: you would probably use a turtle and/or switch around until the lvl 80 celestial plumpfish, but I'm not sure because i dun rly fight in water.
Air: A sawfly is an adequate pet for everyday use, but it is not that good of a tank due to its low defenses and average hp, but can make up for it with its high atk, for air tanking, (if you can catch one) a windwalking piggy wound be best, with very high stats in both defenses and hp (though it has very little damage i believe, so it would be harder to hold aggro from monsters).

^ I agree right there. When I turned level 80, however, I got an armored bear. The stats on phys def and m def are better than a shaodu when both are at 81 (odd but true). I use both still to this day.

For air, I had a foxwing for a long time then I actually spent money to get a nix (which I rarely use given that I'm mostly on the ground and I hate it getting stuck lol).

Water... at 87 I tamed an undine and I prefer her over the plumpfish. Her attack is stronger (in my opinion). as I was able to knock out that asgard quest quicker with her than with the actual plumpfish itself.

Its really all depending on your personal preference though.

Reason for using a different pet for builds other than Pure Mag:
    • Higher Def to HP ratio.

The frogling doesn't have the best mag defense, but it does have higher HP than the best mag def pet. A Carapest Terror isn't a rare, and has the highest known mag def for a non legendary pet.

diabolic jester is a great magic tank. it's a mini boss that spawns west from lost.

I would just forget about a magic tank and get a ranged shooter (ex. Eldergoth sharpshooter), or a shaodu cub.
I was early taught to work as well as play,
    My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday.

I found a use for my mag tanker. After picking out phys mobs with Threaten, I can send my mag tank in with slow to lure the mag mobs. Only problem there is it doesn't really require a mag tanker as the Armored Bear I use for Threaten could do it. Instead of sacrificing a skill on the Bear though, I prefer to use the mag tanker I had anyway.

The Carapest Terror comes with Slow is lower starter than Diabolic Jester (same family), and has the higher def to HP ratio.

Not sure how useful it is since you can lure most magic mobs safely with Tame Pet (including many bosses) or just use a combi mag/phys tanker to apply slow. Slow also doesn't seem to work on bosses and some phys mobs.

I don't mind leveling my land pets, and have 10 spots in my pet bag, so that's how I roll.
